I almost was about to give $99 to some SOB *selling* the file on ebay. When I clicked on your video, I was just expecting a tutorial on how to load one those... I had no idea that it's available FREE. You made this so easy, and free. I am now running v3.4 and the shiny newest 2/20 map. In the end I kicked Cyan Labs $50 bucks cuz we need to make sure those guys stick around for us.
Thanks COLT! I updated my 2017 F-150 SuperCrew XLT 4x4 from version 2.2 to version 3.4. Maps updated from 2015 to 2020. the downloads took 25 min and the install on the SYNC system took 27 min.
Im glad u posted this. I got a 17 Lincoln MKX and my version is 2.3 and I was worried about the 3.4 version crashing my system. Is your Bluetooth better now? My system is so laggy with Bluetooth, videos on my phone are almost unwatchable it so bad.

This was awesome ! I updated my sync 3 from 2.2 to 3.4 and it worked perfectly. My maps are updated, the screen is much nicer and the cameras are clearer. Thanks so much for doing this video Colt !!
I cannot believe it, man! I just recently purchased a 2016 F150 Lariat with the nav. and the sync system was lagging and glitching to where you couldn't even use it. I have hours and hours searching for a fix and couldn't find anything. I was looking for a new APIM as that's what my next option was. This video came up on google while I was searching for the new part. Not only did this solve my issue with the sync system, it updated everything to a smoother working and cleaner look! You have also just saved me $1800 and from the dealership from having my vehicle for 2 days! Thank you very much for this video! I will share on a few forums I am apart of in hopes that it will save other people! You Rock!

on my 2019 f150 the screen just says “updating system software” at the top. the whole time i never see a loading screen or anything else did yours do this?

I just bought a 2017 f150 xlt I was allowed to update for free off the Ford site to get me to version 3.0 But then it wanted me to PAY like 200 bucks to update the maps And then it would allow me to get version 3.2 I was spooked as hell to try this!!! But it worked FLAWLESSLY!!!! My build was 23219 My nav legit was so slow I couldn't use it It would take 30 sec to change a channel Or switch from radio to Sirius XM.. It was soooooo bad Most features were basically useless.. Connecting a phone was out of the question it was so slow This fixed EVERYTHING I can't thank you enough!!!❤❤❤

@@COLTSWAY Yes you CAN add NAV anytime if you are willing to pay the price by changing out your APIM module by checking out infotainment dot com, i spelled dot being that IDK if hyperlinks are allowed! I just changed my ford touch Sync 2 to 3 on my 2016 explorer, they sent everything I needed! I bought the NAV version instead of the non-nav being that I had nav on sync 2 originally! With car play, you can use the phones nav app on your screen, so thats another option for you as well!
Hey Colt! 2024 and this still works. Downloaded for my 18 f150 with nav because sync 3.0 was awful . The vehicle information screen on cyan labs looks slightly different but didn’t mess with anything I wasn’t sure about and it worked out. Chose the newest version of sync and newest version of nav. Same mustang screen came up and everything. Computer to usb took 25 minutes and usb to truck took 27 minutes. Thanks and God Bless!
Oct 2024: Just updated my 2019 Platinum with your instructions and this is how it went: Downloaded the Cyanlab Sync in about 45 seconds (broke all my download records), I could not believe that, so I did another USB with the same result including maps. Printed the instructions and went to my truck with both USB sticks and the instructions. Started the upgrade at 1626 (mil time) and the system rebooted at 1714 but started to continue updating again. I watched it do that another 5 times and realized that it was rebooting every 10 minutes so-- this time I removed the USB as soon as it indicated to do so at about 1757. Restarted the truck and went through all settings available on the screen, everything seemed fine. Went out on a test of the NAV and it did much better as the vehicle icon was now on the road and not in the grass several hundred feet away. Unfortunately, it still has a little lag, so that means the APIM is faulty and will get it replaced this coming Monday. So, yes, this update works if your APIM is not faulty.
Just updated my 2017 Ford F150 Raptor from 3.0.19205 > 3.4.22251 with NAV NA 1 15 > NA 2 21 without any issues. Took ~26 minutes to complete update, and another few minutes to do the recommended factory reset. All options appear to work, so far. I was nervous, but sent it, and worked out beautifully.

Couple questions a) what “maps” version do you select when setting up the down load, and b) do you know anything about grace notes, does that get updated with it or is it a separate Download again? Kind of getting mixed reviews now that I started researching this
Just came across this video randomly last night and I decided to try it and it worked 🎉 did it on a 2018 f150 with nav. Took 45 mins to download the updated 2022 maps and 30 mins to upload to the truck.

I have review you video a number of times before pulling the trigger to update my 19 AlumiDuty Lariat Ultimate with SYNC 3.0 with NAV not going to lie I was still a little hesitant as of this morning I made the decision and downloaded the SYNC 3.4 update with maps and installed it and HOLY SHIT!! what a awesome improvement took all of just under 30 mins for it to install and everything works perfectly. Just wanted to give you a BIG SHOUT out and say thank you for the amazing make it easy video. Thank you for all you have done and all that you will do..... GOD BLESS THE U S of A... Colt! Thanks so much for doing this video! I had to replace the APIM in my 2016 F150 Lariat, and couldn't have done it without watching a ton of vids showing how to do it. Ford dealer wanted $1300 ($800/module + $500/labor)--saved myself a lot of $$$. BUT, the new APIM was not tuned up to be current, and your info here on SYNC 3 helped me to fix that. Keep on enjoying those lattes, big guy!

I just purchased a 2017 F150 and thank goodness I saw the issue during my test drive so dealer agree to pay to install new APMI module to fix the lag issues that I see a lot of people have been having issues with but thanks for the video and for helping all those who this happened to after they purchased their Ford. Awesome the way old glory fix itself as you walked up to it.

Great video man. One other thing about this new update that is nice is that on 2020+ trucks they come with 2 USB ports with one of them being a USB-C. You can order that part and swap out the one in your lower console area to replace the two USB-A ports with the part that has 1 USB-A and 1 USB-C. I did it on my 2017 F150 but you have to have the new software for it to be recognized. Just thought I would mention it if you or anyone wanted to get the USB-C port in an older truck and do this update.

Just updated my 18 F150 and it worked like a charm! There was one error that occurred while downloading to my USB drive but didn't worry, drank another Busch Latte restarted the whole process and it worked smoothly! I tried the newest update(6 updates after the one you uploaded), but for some reason it wouldn't work and just brought up an error, so I went back a few updates, and it worked like a charm! This was way better than paying $199 for the jump drive and digital downloads from Ford

Bought a 2018 lariat. Screen was laggy as hell. Audio would pause or drop out. Went to ford website to update 2.3 to 3.0 with VIN via usb drive. It updated. Newer screen but still laggy like it was with 2.3. Went through the process of this video and uphraded again to 3.4 and it actually really fricken worked. No lag at all. Hell yeah!!
I just did this update for my 2017 F-350 and it worked, the update files are different as 3 years ago from the video but make sure select the top files and follow carefully each step mentioned on the video.
The sync updater prompts have changed since this video. When you go to download the files at the prompts where it asks if you have a 2020 or newer or are unsure select yes. You NEED to select NO to get the downloads if you DO NOT have a 2020. Its some what misleadeing in the prompts now. But this video covers all the details!

I’m late to the video. I have a 2018 F350 and the radio was lagging terribly. 15-20 seconds catch up time after making a selection, did this and it is spot on! Beautiful response time and better options. This video was a grey help
Thank you for the tutorial! It was extremely helpful 👍🏻 My advice to anyone else having trouble: use a "good" usb drive! I was using some cheapo one from 5below and having problems, and ended up at Staples a few hours later getting a newer one. Then it all went well. Got my 2019 Escape feeling like a new car (sorta) haha
“It’s a sign from the LORD!” Thats awesome! Took 2 months to update mine. ESN didn’t match what Ford had. Took a thousand phone calls, seemed like, to get to the bottom of it. Took the dealer a full day with the same people to get it changed. 🙄🙄🙄

Upgraded my truck sync 3.0 to 3.4 today. Thank You for showing how, it worked perfectly! It took a while downloading with nav, but the truck install was pretty quick.

I just did it . The website and options have changed a little bit.. I followed as closely as I could with the different settings. I do have nav. It's downloading to USB now.. wish me luck..edit* everything works great f250 lariat with nav.. 1hr 10mins on computer, 27 mins in truck.. ur the man colt!!!!

Thanks for sharing Colt! I successfully updated my 2018 F150 Lariat from Sync 3.0.20204 to Sync 3.4.21194 with the latest Map Version: 2.20 (2020). The new "blue-er" interface and updated fonts certainly modernized the look, and the interface seems faster, especially CarPlay (it takes a minute or so intiatlly to finish the background activity after the update, but seems fine after).. Only functionality difference I noted was the heated steering wheel control is no longer on the home screen, and is back in the "Climate" menu.

Also thanks for the info on sync 3. I just traded in my 2014 F350 Lariat for a 2021 F350 King Ranch and trying to learn how to use this space ship.

Did the update give you wireless Android or wireless CarPlay? OR is that an update related to Sync 4?

@@COLTSWAY Yes you CAN add NAV anytime if you are willing to pay the price by changing out your APIM module by checking out infotainment dot com, i spelled dot being that IDK if hyperlinks are allowed! I just changed my ford touch Sync 2 to 3 on my 2016 explorer, they sent everything I needed! I bought the NAV version instead of the non-nav being that I had nav on sync 2 originally! With car play, you can use the phones nav app on your screen, so thats another option for you as well!
I think Nav 2.20 just came out as i thought 1.19 was the latest!
Hey Colt! 2024 and this still works. Downloaded for my 18 f150 with nav because sync 3.0 was awful . The vehicle information screen on cyan labs looks slightly different but didn’t mess with anything I wasn’t sure about and it worked out. Chose the newest version of sync and newest version of nav. Same mustang screen came up and everything. Computer to usb took 25 minutes and usb to truck took 27 minutes. Thanks and God Bless!

Oct 2024: Just updated my 2019 Platinum with your instructions and this is how it went: Downloaded the Cyanlab Sync in about 45 seconds (broke all my download records), I could not believe that, so I did another USB with the same result including maps. Printed the instructions and went to my truck with both USB sticks and the instructions. Started the upgrade at 1626 (mil time) and the system rebooted at 1714 but started to continue updating again. I watched it do that another 5 times and realized that it was rebooting every 10 minutes so-- this time I removed the USB as soon as it indicated to do so at about 1757. Restarted the truck and went through all settings available on the screen, everything seemed fine. Went out on a test of the NAV and it did much better as the vehicle icon was now on the road and not in the grass several hundred feet away. Unfortunately, it still has a little lag, so that means the APIM is faulty and will get it replaced this coming Monday. So, yes, this update works if your APIM is not faulty.
Respect Old Glory! Love the flag part. Took 8 minutes on my 2019 f250. It’s a company truck so I had nothing to lose haha.

Just updated my 2017 Ford F150 Raptor from 3.0.19205 > 3.4.22251 with NAV NA 1 15 > NA 2 21 without any issues. Took ~26 minutes to complete update, and another few minutes to do the recommended factory reset. All options appear to work, so far. I was nervous, but sent it, and worked out beautifully.

Couple questions a) what “maps” version do you select when setting up the down load, and b) do you know anything about grace notes, does that get updated with it or is it a separate Download again? not going to lie I was still a little hesitant as of this morning I made the decision and downloaded the SYNC 3.4 update with maps and installed it and HOLY SHIT!! what a awesome improvement took all of just under 30 mins for it to install and everything works perfectly. Colt! Thanks so much for doing this video! I had to replace the APIM in my 2016 F150 Lariat, and couldn't have done it without watching a ton of vids showing how to do it. Ford dealer wanted $1300 ($800/module + $500/labor)--saved myself a lot of $$$. BUT, the new APIM was not tuned up to be current, and your info here on SYNC 3 helped me to fix that. Keep on enjoying those lattes, big guy!

I just purchased a 2017 F150 and thank goodness I saw the issue during my test drive so dealer agree to pay to install new APMI module to fix the lag issues that I see a lot of people have been having issues with but thanks for the video and for helping all those who this happened to after they purchased their Ford. Awesome the way old glory fix itself as you walked up to it.

Great video man. One other thing about this new update that is nice is that on 2020+ trucks they come with 2 USB ports with one of them being a USB-C. You can order that part and swap out the one in your lower console area to replace the two USB-A ports with the part that has 1 USB-A and 1 USB-C. I did it on my 2017 F150 but you have to have the new software for it to be recognized. Just thought I would mention it if you or anyone wanted to get the USB-C port in an older truck and do this update.

Just updated my 18 F150 and it worked like a charm! There was one error that occurred while downloading to my USB drive but didn't worry, drank another Busch Latte restarted the whole process and it worked smoothly! Thanks for posting brother, saved me and a bunch of folks some $$$. Shout out for protecting the Mighty Old Glory 🇺🇸

Bought a 2018 lariat. Screen was laggy as hell. Audio would pause or drop out. Went to ford website to update 2.3 to 3.0 with VIN via usb drive. It updated. Newer screen but still laggy like it was with 2.3. Went through the process of this video and uphraded again to 3.4 and it actually really fricken worked. No lag at all. Hell yeah!!

I just did this update for my 2017 F-350 and it worked, the update files are different as 3 years ago from the video but make sure select the top files and follow carefully each step mentioned on the video.

The sync updater prompts have changed since this video. When you go to download the files at the prompts where it asks if you have a 2020 or newer or are unsure select yes. You NEED to select NO to get the downloads if you DO NOT have a 2020. Its some what misleadeing in the prompts now. But this video covers all the details!

Thank you for the tutorial! It was extremely helpful 👍🏻 My advice to anyone else having trouble: use a "good" usb drive! I was using some cheapo one from 5below and having problems, and ended up at Staples a few hours later getting a newer one. Then it all went well. Got my 2019 Escape feeling like a new car (sorta) haha

It's downloading to USB now.. wish me luck..edit* everything works great f250 lariat with nav.. 1hr 10mins on computer, 27 mins in truck.. ur the man colt!!!!

Thanks for sharing Colt! I successfully updated my 2018 F150 Lariat from Sync 3.0.20204 to Sync 3.4.21194 with the latest Map Version: 2.20 (2020). The new "blue-er" interface and updated fonts certainly modernized the look, and the interface seems faster, especially CarPlay (it takes a minute or so intiatlly to finish the background activity after the update, but seems fine after).. Only functionality difference I noted was the heated steering wheel control is no longer on the home screen, and is back in the "Climate" menu.
