    I think you make some of the best club comparisons on TH-cam. Would you be able to do a comparison of some of the leading DTC brands such as Hayward, Sub70 and Tokomo?
    These DTC brands seem to excel at forged blades and player cavity backs. I'm curious how they stack up against each other and how their CB options compare to major oems. How much distance/forgiveness is lost with seemingly simpler tech?

    Yep that's why I have the JPX 921 Forged irons. My miss is high toe.

    I must report that I purchased a set of Mizuno 921 Hot Metal irons 07/2021. I absolutely loved them. Great looking and for the most part feel like hitting butter. The downside is always there though. I regularly clean my clubs after each shot with water if needed, sometime I can just wipe the dirt & grass off with a towel. I shake them to remove any excess water then wipe them dry and replace the head cover. I have noticed recently that the back of the head in the cavity and the dissimilar metal bar across the back as well as in the cavity RUSTS! This bothers me a lot. Quality irons should not do this. I've never had another set of clubs do this. It tells me there is some type of metal that is not protected in the head that is prone to deterioration. Mizuno customer service offered no condolences or even expressed any concern over this. Maybe they knew it would do it. It sure does not look good and I feel certain that in time this will impact the clubs performance.

    This video gave me validation (I shouldn't need it but nice to have it). I had a fitting, tried P790s, couldn't hit them, probs just me, Titleist t200s, and these two mizzys. The 225s and 921 forged were, like your results, identical. Factored in cost and that provide decisive, got the 921s, and matching gap wedge for £200 less than 225s alone.

    Have had my 921 Forged for two years and the reason I bought them was because of the toe miss. They lost very little compared to everything else I tried.

    Great video and very timely as I am deciding between the two for my new set. Question - Did you find that either one to be better on front-to-back dispersion when comparing good strikes and mishits? I am worried that the slightly more 'techie' JPX produces extra distance on good strikes (evident in the slightly higher efficiency numbers) while giving you the same result on mishits, leading to greater overall front-to-back dispersion.

      Hi Frans being honest it wasn't something that I have ever noticed one being superior to the other. Both have different technologies but operate in a very blurred market. For me it comes down to feel requirements and also aesthetics between the two 👍

    Great video Jay! So the big question, do irons really have “forgiveness”? I have hit a million shots on the simulator and I see zero difference between MB’s and GI irons with the same loft. What is your opinion??

    Hi Jay, forensic detail as usual and great to see you back! Do you recall your video on the Callaway Apex Pro 21 irons? I went to Callaway for a fitting and I was fit into these irons. However, you were concerned about the performance off the toe (my normal miss) and you said you would need to investigate further. Did you conduct any further testing in private and come to any conclusion? I appreciate that these irons are likely to be superseded next year but it would be good to know. I did purchase the irons but so far I have only used them once as I tore my meniscus in my left knee shortly after! Keep well.

      Welcome back, good to hear from you 👍
      Yes in private testing my initial thoughts were true, they aren't the best off the toe. Obviously not the worst by far but it will be interesting to see what differences are in the upcoming new irons 👍

    JPX range is more value oriented?

    • @AskGolfNut
      @AskGolfNut  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really Paul, mainly more technology inspired forgiveness design. All manufacturers have their range of irons that cover what they perceive to be the spectrum of golfers. What actually works etc is where the custom fitting comes in 👍
