The origins of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in the United States can be traced back to the 1960s. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the introduction of affirmative action policies were major catalysts for the DEI movement.
False. And some Trump supporters will even admit it’s false. There are thousands of groups throughout American history that have overcome big obstacles. Why pick out this group to teach about. And not just briefly mention, but so much just thought about this group when so many others have overcome just as much. Why is that? It’s because it is DEI. 100% is. But some people don’t have the maturity and “capacity“ to analyze the situation and understand it. They just respond like youngsters who still go to recess three times a day, all they know is “DEI bad, so anything that’s good cannot be DEI“.
Looking around, I beg your pardon. Some people in today's world have no use for history and certainly will not learn anything from it. On the lithe hand, people like potus are stealing plays from history's playbook to use on those of us who skipped history classes.
Exactly, so rename our military bases back to their original names. Fort Benning is now Fort Moore, Fort Bragg is Fort Liberty, Fort Pickett is, wait for it, Fort Barfoot. The libs took down statues of Thomas Jefferson, and renamed military bases which bore the names of Southern Generals but put up statues of George Floyd. History happened and good or bad, we should acknowledge it.
TRANSLATION : The Tuskegee Airmen were misappropriated as DEI but they've now been returned to their proper role as manly examples of the American warrior ethos.
SPOT ON!!! This was frozen (for a second) because it was encased in the DEI program. Not to stop the teaching of the Tuskegee Airman. An Executive Order from POTUS was followed immediately. The bloviation from Rep Sewell was an attention grab. That's all.
They literally would be considered a DEI program. Including a group that was purposefully excluded despite their qualifications. It never meant don’t bring on qualified people - just don’t exclude groups. That’s literally what DEI is about and it’s a good thing.
When one airman was shot down and captured by the shocked Germans (surrounded almost immediately) the inmates at the POW camp knew he was not a German mole so trusted him with a lot of secrets involving escape attempts.
That's really not true. 27 bombers were lost which was the lowest especially considering the amount of missions they flew. The next lowest was in the 40's and up from that with other groups. Their low number of 27 bombers lost was attributed to the 332 staying in escort and not running off unless they had to or the bombers were safe.
It's impossible to tell the Tuskegee airmen story without discussing systemic racism in America's past. DEI is making a purposeful stance against this type of racism. Diversity increases lethality and effectiveness of the military, as the Tuskegee aviators showed.
I joined the USAF in 1993 and got stationed at Maxwell AFB in 1993 after tech school in MS. This training was not available then. I was 45min up the road from Tuskegee. My father drove from San Antonio, Texas, because he loves to drive, and took me to to Tuskegee to see the history, but even then there was nothing about the Tuskegee airmen, not like they have now. He had to tell me the history of that college campus, even down to the syphilis experiments that were going on then. There were no plaques, nothing to tell about the history. Those who knew about it either experienced it, or read about it in books that were still not mainstream in the 1990s. My uncle who was a pilot in the US Air Force also came down and he talk to me and others about the history. Due to their fight and some other others Now Tuskegee has a museum to honor the Tuskegee airmen. So yes, I can understand why someone will call this DI, is because this education wasn’t given out to anyone unless you dog and search for it. Some may have known about the history because their families told them about it, but the reason why I am kind of dumb to it is because I was raised by two US Air Force parents Who raised me in Europe and wanted me to experience life without thinking about the trauma that my ancestors went through. They wanted me to have a more color blind life, and then once I saw the world without prejudices, then they wanted to make sure that I was educated. People may frown upon how my parents did things, heck sometimes I get upset. But being born and raised in multiple places around the world, has given me a different appreciation. And I believe the whole DEI backlash is gonna hurt America the most.
No not the finest piolets..yo would just like to think that..they shot down German piolet at the end of the war...very poorly trained German pilots..on the average 10 hours training time..Germans had no choice..need to learn your history

@@mdcoleret DEI is really not good for anyone. Equality and merit based is what we should strive for. DEI is sitting the tallest, best basketball player on the bench because DEI requires a certain number of short players who can’t dunk on the team. Think about football and basketball players. The majority of the players are black. It’s not because they are black, it’s because they’re the best qualified.
If inclusiveness was fair, there would be no need for Diversity Equity and Inclusion. The entire world knows that, why not this administration and maga?
Can we all just stop keeping division by keeping us divided. I agree that DEI should be ended. We are supposed to be beyond it now. The term racist applies to both ends of the skin color spectrum.
It is history and should be right up there with the rest of our historical training to give perspective to our new airmen. Is there like training for women in history - probably not in basic training. What about those who shipped over to England during WWI?
If it focuses on them only for their race, or especially if it makes it about discrimination and segregation etc, then no it shouldn’t be any part of USAF history curriculum taught during basic training. That’s not the time or place for divisive topics and focusing on racial crap whenever you’re trying to strip every recruit of their individuality and civilian life, in order to rebuild them as a singular team who are all the same, which should only focus on accomplishing the mission and everyone working together as a team. They can talk about that famed unit’s combat achievements, without focusing on or even mentioning the fact they were an all black unit due to the then-segregated military. Everyone can clearly see they’re all black skinned in the videos anyways.
Lots of confusion in the comments about the definition of DEI. Diversity, equity and inclusion. It brings qualified candidates into the fold when traditionally, they would be excluded for reasons xyz. In the case of the Black airmen, it allowed them, as qualified (well trained) to serve in WWII despite the shackles of being in a *segregated* militray.
I grew up knowing this story, and was so proud of these black men who had to overcome great odds, just to be in the military, and this crazy cruel insane regime and the vile people in it, are gonna try and edit our history and erase our American hero’s contributions.
Scanning over the comments, the question I don't see being asked is; what other material is being removed for specious reasons? Also, where else are these destructive actions taking place and just haven't created a PR problem yet?
The Tuskegee Airmen were volunteers who served in World War II as the first Black military pilots in the United States. Explanation The Tuskegee Airmen were young men who volunteered to train as pilots, navigators, or bombardiers. The Air Corps provided training, aircraft, uniforms, and parachutes. Tuskegee University provided the facilities for training. The Tuskegee Airmen trained at a segregated air base in Alabama from 1941 to 1946. They flew hundreds of missions during the war, including escorting American bombing crews over Europe.

The attitude of the female anchor. Didn't get the report she wanted. She wanted to make something out of nothing so bad. Wasn't removed just reviewed. She seems to be an unpleasant person.
Yes, these black airmen were a terrible example of diversity, equity and inclusion. They were not diverse, they did not want equity with the white pilots and they certainly did not want inclusion into the fighting efforts. You could not be more correct.
This report is NOT true… the Air Force denies removing this training video… these videos are used as part of basic training and was NEVER used for DEI promotion
The Air Force briefly withdrew them to check if they were DEI and found that they were not, the teaching tapes are history, history about the Tuskegee Airmen and the WASPs, though lots of people are forgetting about the WASPs when speaking. I think someone at the USAF said let’s check these out so if the president and others tell us to drop them for being DEI we can say truthfully NO SIR we can’t drop them cause they are history, written in blood by the flyers who served and we are proud of each and everyone one of them.
@@lsmith128 Because teaching that America has a segregationist and White supremacist history - including a history of racism in the military - might make White people feel "bad" about themselves. The MAGAs want that all erased (and have passed state laws stating that excuse) and are using the current buzzword of DEI to do it here.
Imagine saying diversity, equity, and inclusion has no place in the US military with a straight face... It’s complete mental defect to think something made up out of thin air like race has any sort of hierarchy… yet racism and believing white mediocrity trumps the excellence of every other race, is pervasive in the community of those who cling to “whiteness” stay woke!
Exactly! No one is born a racist, & racism can be unlearned! ❤️
They fought racism.... It was the first battle they had to fight and win in order to be allowed to do the job that they were trained to do..... Stop lying just because it makes you feel uncomfortable.

Racism, just classic racism.
I don't think this is DEI matter, but history. We can all learn from history.
It isn't a DEI matter at all... it doesn't make ANY sense... except for racism and trying to eliminate anything Black.
it's a racist play by a racist. Pretty simple.

They literally would be considered a DEI program. Including a group that was purposefully excluded despite their qualifications. It never meant don’t bring on qualified people - just don’t exclude groups. That’s literally what DEI is about and it’s a good thing.
The legend is, they never lost a bomber.
If you didn't know, now you do.
When one airman was shot down and captured by the shocked Germans (surrounded almost immediately) the inmates at the POW camp knew he was not a German mole so trusted him with a lot of secrets involving escape attempts.
@@equargthis article certainly fails to mention the syphilis study group.
@@Thea-gj2or got something on your mind, have you?
The finest pilots America had at that time They deserve our respect and admiration for what they accomplished. Brave men who should be honored.

The Tuskegee Airmen were volunteers who served in World War II as the first Black military pilots in the United States.
Explanation
The Tuskegee Airmen were young men who volunteered to train as pilots, navigators, or bombardiers.
