Snk and Capcom have never compromised the animation in their games. (Using sprites in other games is a different story *cough* capcom) I wish other fighting games put as much thought into their animations as SNK and Capcom.
@@joshuataylor7443 since im not too familiar with the last blade story im not sure what they could do to continue it. More than likely they could go the samsho route and make interquels/prequels. Or start a new storyline that focuses on other characters.
I think "The Last Blade" series has one of the best Stories in the History of Fighting Games, that's very Rare these Days. Awesome Lore Video, this is probably the Best one yet.
Also, the aftermath of the Last Blade 2 story, that you forgot to include. With Yuki and Shigen confirmed died, Zantetsu also died off-screen (somewhere around Last Blade 2). Despite his death, his grandson, Santa Kisaragi, will carry the legacy of Kisaragi clan.
I have always loved SNK lore they are probably the best fighting game story tellers and all the world building that each game has is simply amazing. Great job as per usual Shoryu
I do love how people keep saying "both" Last Blade games. Am I the only one who remembers the existence of this little device called the Neo-Geo Pocket? (and yes the NGP Last Blade game is, IIRC, on the Switch as well. It's called Last Blade: Beyond the Destiny).

This is one of my favorite games from SNK. I fell in love with the beautiful sprite art and detailed backgrounds, as well as the great soundtrack and the amazing characters. The one thing I never really knew about was the story. Thank you for making these videos for us. These games all had such great stories it was just so hard to figure out what they were all about, especially back in the 90s when all we had were the arcade games.
Who remembers GameTap? This is where I found out about SNK games. Also, why do I keep rewinding this video? Well.. this is how much I love this series, and this video as well, that I don't want to stop hearing about this. This series needs a proper reboot, like please... this will already make my year if this is executed right - very slept on series.
I used to think so too until I learned about Samurai Shodown: Warriors Rage for PS1. It takes place about 10-15 years after the main series and almost all the characters are new. So I would say that is the "true" Garou of Samsho.
Also I am pretty sure the producer for Guilty Gear worked on both of this and a lot of the last of the samurai showdown games and it shows you can see Sol and Ky in Moriya and Kaede.
I think SNK wants to revive Fatal Fury, and Last Blade. It all depends on the success of KOF XV, because they really need to implement Rollback netcode in their new KOF XV. Samsho 7 is an atrocity online.
I've played hours after hours with the SNK games in the 90's and yet I've known The Last Blade only six months ago, playing at the mobile game "SNK Allstar". It's a pity, because I like so much the story, the characters and the graphics of these two games.
I never realized this but Moriya, Iori, Genjuro, Vice, Fiona, Vanessa, Kazuki ect...SNK has a history of making some badazz red headed characters lol. I know it's random, but that's the first thing I thought when I saw this video and Moriya. That being said, this was a great video. I'm surprised KOF let this story die since they were just beginning laying out the lore. Perhaps with more videos like this they will decide to one day bring it back? Thanks Shoryu!
This is a game that I completely missed when it was out back in the late nineties. I only learned about it when I went out and bought SNK games for my dream cast back in the early 2000's. During that time I also learned about garou mark of the wolves and I bought it too. Last blade, garou and samurai showdown could probably be considered the greatest classics for SNK fighting games and maybe even better than some of the other games outside SNK.
I was hoping to see a Last Blade lore video in your channel sooner or later! This made me so happy, LB is one of my favorite videogame series, not just from SNK, but all games overall. Thank you!

Along with the Samurai Shodown line of games, Last Blade is one of my most loved arcade games, for its overall design, characters, lore and the general beauty of the appreciation of the history itself. During those times that I have played this game, I was able to appreciate the history of Japan and its mythology. Who could ever gotten good about the always looming presence of Hell / Hades among humans, and how the Gods are there protecting us. Despite of that, humanity forgets its past, and the rage and violence will always make sure to help us remember to honor our past and the Gods along with it. Much thanks to your video, i relieved my love with these games once more!

Its a pretty game and an engaging storyline that would work well as a nice little anime series. It'd be nice if they bring a third episode but I guess its okay with the way it is now. Good video - I enjoyed it.
The end of the story of LB2 is so sad. Yuki sacrificed herself as a Witch to seal the gate.She realized who she really is when she sees the shine of the Gouyu on her neck.The story is about love,hate and fate.Everyone is connected because of the event of the Gate. Moriya loves Yuki but he never says a word about it. At the end of the story of LB1,Yuki and Moriya met on the bridge but they just passed by without saying anything.There are only regrets left in Moriya's lonely heart.

The most amazing underrated/underappreciated SNK game of all! The gameplay is flawles, easy to pick up but hard to master!! The art and sound is some of the best in the genre, the character design... everything is awesome in this game!!
I loved the Last Blade series it's story was well thought and thanks for the video for clarifying things in the lore plus I remember playing LB2 with my friends at the arcade and it was a great time and the gameplay of the serues was really fun to play around with the characters and music are also well designed
Also a fun fact that the dev's got wrong historically. Shinsengumi rarely "Fired' anyone. Their way was a strict code of bushido based on honour. If shikyo didn't run away on his own he'd probably have been forced to commit seppuku which was the Shinsengumi's custom. So I figure they sent Kojiro and Washizuka to assassinate him. Cos that's what they did with other people who ran off. Even the one time they did let some leave peacefully, they ended up having to assassinate them in the streets of Kyoto. They were very very very strict.
So cool to find out swery got his first game credit with this game. Who would’ve thought he’d start here and create things like deadly premonition and D4. The gaming world is sick

i found a comic book of this game at a 5 below store and got it despite never having tried these games out and im really wishing i had started playing them earlier. Kenshin is one of my fav manga and anime series ever and there being a fighter in that same time period is really cool

This game more accessible than Shamso and very fast paced. I was surprised when playing this on PS1 and dethroned Alpha 3 as my favorite 2D game
