@Breath Of The Wild Zelda apparently Nintendo has said THAT THERE WILL BE PETTING OF THE DOGGIES IN THE SEQUEL! Apparently it was so in high demand among fans that they want to implement it in the next game. Plus I actually think you could connect this with the dog treasure thing that was in BOTW. So in BOTW if you stayed by a dog for a certain amount of time it would lead you to treasure. I think in the sequel we could have if you pet the dog a certain amount of times it will roll over on its back and you can give it a belly rub (all good doggies love belly rubs) and then it leads you to treasure.

I know this isn’t about new animals in BOTW2 but hear me out:
So the weird spirit rune things are spiraling away from the hand right? What if the hand holding down Ganondorf is disintegrating? Maybe there used to be a whole spirit holding him down, and the hand is just all that’s left? If that’s the case, then malice could be leaking because the seal is slowly peeling away.

I think Ganondorf triggered an earthquake that formed a crack in the ground, Zelda was falling and Link caught her, but he was about to fall as well, so the Seal Hand grabbed Link, but by doing that it broke the seal and freed Ganondorf.

Epona wasn't even a very good horse. All her stats were below max. I actually kicked her out of my stable in favor of better horses.

Riding dolphins sounds AWSOME! It would be fun to use them to go to different islands. It would be like riding the Loftwings in Skyward Sword.

I can imagine the Lord of the Mountain playing an interesting role in the infection theory. Maybe a plague is sweeping the land through infected rats and eventually corrupts him, turning the mountain into a dungeon/gauntlet.

I wonder if BotW 2 will re-introduce swimming/diving. It would also be super awesome to be able to visit the Sky area again. As we know, not all of the floating islands from Skyward Sword fell back down to the ground. The Oocca may still exist up there and might have evolved. Perhaps Loftwings still exist too.

I think back to twilight princess and how we had to fight puppet zelda... So whether malice or just dark magic Gannon has been able to corrupt even strong willed humans. So the idea of animals isn't so far fetched. I like the idea of some gaining size and strength through his corruption, and I would see like to see him use his powers to make more puppets of hylians as well as possibly using his magic for other deterrents... Such as weather or maybe inanimate objects. Could be interesting.

Great video! I love the idea of going around Hyrule purging the malice out of the wildlife that once made Hyrule so mesmerizing. Breath of the wild was all about a Hyrule overcome by the wild. Its exciting to think that this time it will be about the wild overcome by malice.
The calamity could've also drove out some animals from hyrules ecosystem. Maybe many animals return to hyrule since the threat of guardians, malice, etc are now mostly gone. Foreigners could also bring in animals from far off lands.
Taking a page out of Far Cry: Primal, what if some animals could be tamed to use as hunting or attacking partners similar to Wolf Link but expanded more without the amiibo, however to balance this they can only be tamed and used within their respective ecosystem, when you want to use one again you would have to tame them again like wolves, bears, falcons, foxes, eagles, and new animals.
In the Faron Grasslands/Taobab Savannah: Giraffes, lions (will attack Link, Zelda, and hyenas, they can be tamed with meat) hyenas (will attack Link, Zelda, and lions, they can be tamed with meat), ravenous hyenas (beefier hyenas corrupted by malice), zebra (rideable and can be registered but much faster and wilder than horses), elephants resembling African elephants (rideable and can be registered, they are able to move large objects but they are very slow), corrupted elephants (elephants with longer tusks bone spikes portruding from its back corrupted by malice), and corrupted cats (hairless big cats corrupted by malice)
In the Faron Woods: Monkeys (Will steal food or weapons you drop, can be tamed to steal from monsters with mighty bananas), mange monkeys (monkeys corrupted by malice that are much skinnier and attack in groups), gorillas (will attack Link and Zelda if harmed first), a giant gorilla boss corrupted with malice, parrots (act as regular birds), hippos (will be hostile at first, but can be ridden underwater and on land but they are very slow and cannot be registered), tigers (will attack Link and Zelda, can be tamed with meat), crocodiles (will attack Link and Zelda under or near water), elephants resembling Asian elephants (same as grassland elephants), corrupted elephants, corrupted cats, and ropes (can be tamed with meat)
Oceans: Sea turtles, sharks (will attack Link and Zelda underwater), dolphins (can be ridden underwater), and whales (You can enter the stomach which can be used as a sleeping place underwater [weird but interesting]),
Hebra/Gerudo Highlands: Lynx (will attack Link and Zelda), yaks (the giant pack animal in the trailer [It looks like a yak] can be ridden although very slow registered and used as extra storage), and corrupted cats
Gerudo Desert: Camels (Can be ridden and registered but are faster in the desert than on the grass), mountain lions (will attack Link and Zelda and can be tamed with meat), and corrupted cats
Grasslands/Woods: Bison (Can be ridden but not registered), and rabbits (Why weren't they in Breath of the Wild again?), ferrets or badgers (can be tamed with meat), giant rabbits (giant ravenous bunnies corrupted by malice), giant ferrets (giant hostile ferrets corrupted by malice)
Death Mountain: Dodongos (will attack Link and Zelda), and some sort of animal you can ride in lava
Underground: Skulltulas (will attack Link and Zelda), rats (can be tamed with rice or wheat), giant naked mole rats (rats corrupted by malice that lost most of their hair), and giant earthworms
Animals found in domesticated areas: Cats (will bring you more fish in exchange for a fish or milk), and pigs (no wonder why they weren't there alongside Hateno cows and sheep)
Mountains: Llamas (rideable and can be registered, can be used as extra storage in areas such as Tabantha and around Rito Village to climb mountains.
Returning animals infested by malice: Wolves, bears, falcons, boars, horses, and deer

Well said, though I might even add the idea that the plants and great fairies might also get infected. Some of the animals might evolve as well. Certain flowers could turn into deku Babas, crabs might turn into tektites, lizards can turn into dodongos, wolves to wolfos, and when you said some people, they can turn into the stalfos, darknuts, and poes. Oh and what if malace can enter old statues and become armos knights. Also, what if malace can create other monsters besides the monster skulls? It can create skulltulas, bubbles, those jellyfish things from OoT, and redeads from the multiple gravesites in the game. Frogs become like-likes, some fish could become shark enemies like the ones from Wind Waker and Skyward Sword, Levers could make a comeback with all of the cacti in the deasert. And like you said malace might make new enemies like tainted dear, boars, foxes, and even squirrels. Rats and snakes that went by a different name in ALTTP (I can't think of the names). Pehats? Anyway point is, with all the current animals and the obvious rise of malace, that just increases the possibility of a lot the old enemies making a comeback.
Yeah, I have been talking about this since early 2019!!! The snake, owl, and monkey sounds! Also, another excuse for new creatures is like discovering a species in hiding or on the verge of extinct. Maybe rabbits have been hiding mainly underground or have a large shade covering

A really cool idea for the malice animals is if they drop a valuable malice item, like monster extract. Maybe it could be like chuchu jelly, and you can use it to re-corrupt animals, maybe?

Beavers, badgers, otters, monkeys, owls, toucans, raccoons, gorillas, gators, snakes (aka "ropes"). These oughtta work probably.
If we could swim underwater, then I could see a swimming lizard. Like the hightail lizards except like iguanas with the swishing tails.
Also petting dogs and cats would be awesome, imagine cats with the treasure feature. They pounce on a fish dogs do with meat except they leave and come back with rare bugs in their mouth or mice like in the trailer.
Maybe we could have a food chain, like seeing Foxes kill and eat rats or mice. Or Bears eating Berries, or Grazing on Grass

Since BOTW drew a lot of heavy influence from Princess Mononoke, my assumption is the malice in fact sucks out the life force of living creatures - hence the cut scene with the rat. Maybe Ganondorf is using said life force from nature to regain his “hydrated” form.
As much as I hate spiders, I was surprised and somewhat disappointed there wasn’t some kind of skulltula type creature roaming around or would come out at night. I mean, if stal enemies would pop out of the ground, why not add an extra surprise of a skulltula jumping out of a tree? Maybe in the sequel that will become a thing if underground exploration is an option.

I've been thinking about it for a while and I'd like to see a few upgrades to the weather system. For one thing, thick fog that rolls in on you would be neat, and kind of similar to how Naboris's sandstorm. High winds, differences in the amount of rainfall, and hot still weather would all be interesting things to toy with. However this all might be too elaborate and difficult for them to work with.
The lord of the mountain and the blupees could have a role in a scenario like this. They look like they wouldn't be as easily corrupted by malice and it could give the lord of the mountain more purpose than he had in the first game.
I'm sure this game will emphasized heavily on everything below the surface of the current Hyrule; i think the question is how big they are and how deep they all go. Hyrule is about 20,000-25,000 years old in this game.
I believe the malice engulfing the rat in the trailer is Ganondorf consuming the lifeforce to resuscitate his living form.

They should definitely add, like, REAL wolves that don't try to attack you and give the animals good AI. Of course, they needed some animals to attack, but honestly I found wolves more of an annoyance attacking you on sight EVERY TIME. More enemy variety would help fix this.
I like the idea of malice infected animals. That way, wolves could only attack when infected, and there could be an easy way to cleanse them to avoid killing them as several of you have noted. They could even have in place of the koroks a collectible for killing specific malice infected beings scattered across the map kinda like having to kill the skulltulas in Ocarina.

I kinda want to see some fruit bats.
Say that you find an entrance to the underground in faron, there is a whole family of fruit bats and maybe an npc that loves them (fruit bats are cute okay) and bat guana makes nitric acid so maybe the npc uses it for some sort of crafting ingredient?
That the npc is upset because the previous friendly bats have become infected by malice and are altered in size as well as enraged.
Link saves them and that npc becomes a sort of merchant for new items or something. Maybe saving the bats causes them to assist Link in an unknown boss battle at the end of the quest.
Hippos are my favourite animal so I really wanted them and am very excited that you showed the possibility of hippos being in a zelda game.
new animals i'd want to see include otters, martens, weasels, bunnies, big cats like lions and tigers, and alligators/crocodiles like the video mentioned. and yes, more fun with the mounts - horses are great and all, but it would feel more fantastical to throw a saddle on a deer and ride off to save the land on its back
on a related note i'd like to see more companion animals, like Wolf Link. that could've been a fun mechanic if they'd fleshed it out just a little more. i don't wanna eat the foxes, i want them to be my friend!
Pets! It would be super cool if we could have companion animals! Imagine fighting alongside a tamed bear, wolf, or falcon!
Something interesting that I thought of was if in botw 2 if they would incorporate the village creating side quest from the first game as a type of system in the second game.
Like having to rebuild or reinforce villages against ganons onslaught, but in a way that gives you a fast travel/checkpoint or rewards. And possibly used as sanctuarys in case there is a system like your endlessly or very often repeatedly attack while outside of these santuarys.
It’s would be a very cool effect if the malice infested animals had a type of red,purple,black mist rolling from there mouths and nostrils.
So what if, going off of Ganon corrupting animals, what if Yiga purposefully let Ganon to infect them with his malice so they become instead of being a joke enemy (as pointed out in the video) and an actually difficult opponent because they become like human blights? Not only would that be visually terrifying, they would be at least as difficult as lynels. Think about it-they already have super speed and agility, are telekinetic and teleport, now they're infuriated that Link killed not just Master Kohga but literally the Calamity itself who they WORSHIPED, but they also have super strength and lets imagine malice has a hive mind. Maybe they can even get orders from Ganon himself, and hear him via the malice. Anytime Link comes across malice, Ganon can tell the Yiga where he is. That'd be a cool game feature because that could make stealth buffs from armor or food way more important, and maybe that's why Zelda and Link both have capes with hoods to hide their faces. The Yiga could literally swarm Link as actually difficult enemies, and Link now has to also protect Zelda too, which is strategically more difficult than just him by himself. That would be an insane plot twist, and would give the duo an incentive to travel or hide underground when possible.
I also wonder if Nintendo scrolls through the comments of theory videos to see what fans want lol, that'd be rad.

With visiting the secluded islands: there could be gigantism and dwarfism of animals. Giant birds and rodents, mini elephants or horses.
I might be wrong, but I think this may be the first we see of evil rats since Link to the Past.
Let’s hope we get some news soon, it’s almost been a year since we’ve seen the game! And I really wanna see some sea animals in BoTW2 and I hope we can explore underwater

You should be able to hunt animals for their parts to upgrade armor in the sequel like monster parts. For example a wild boar tusk could have been used to upgrade the barbarian armor. This would be better for the game because then you would be pushed
to explore more and use arrows/ weapon durability to get better gear then just jumping in a lake to get fish or picking up rocks to reveal a lizard
If we get more wildlife we should also get more cooking options. What kinds of dishes would you like added.

Maybe monsters were made from certain species of animals? like Lizalfos from Lizards, which is why there isnt any animals or other life in hyrule castle
1. A bridge could be build between Hyrule an the surrounding area so new NPC's could move to Hyrule and of course they would bring the domesticated animals that only exist in their respective countrys with them (thus explaining the animal in the trailer). And of course you as the player can't cross that bridge because: How dare you turn your back to Hyrule when it needs you.
2. Do you know what happens when you make your horse or any other animal run into malice? They dont get corrupted, they DIE. Naydra is a divine dragon, those can't be compared to normal animals. The only reason why Naydra survived is because those dragons are extremely powerful. Anything that is less powerful than that (aka the entirety of the animal kingdom) dies upon contact with malice. So IF the animals in the next game are actually getting corrupted all of a sudden instead of kicking the bucket then Nintendo will have some explaining to do.

Why do people think that there needs to be justification for new creatures to be present? The excuse is that "they just weren't incorporated in the prequel, therefore they must be interpreted as either elusive species or ones that Link has not canonically seen yet. Either that, or they were an 'understood' creature." For instance, there are sound effects for owls, kookaburras, and snakes in BotW, but no actual model for the animals.

I would say Malice infested Cucco's, but then you could actually attack them ultimately making them less deadly than they already are.
I want to see more bird species in the tropical areas. And it might be cool to add more apex predators like big cats, crocodiles, and maybe even *geese*

Ik it's more of a monster than an animal, but I want the Roc birds (E.g. the Helmaroc King from WW) to come back. Using the same Galapagos/tropical island idea, they could either:
1) b native from that island and nowhere else, which would explain y we didn't c them in BotW
Or 2) regular birds infected w/ malice, maybe for several generations and then the malice becomes part of them (instead of just on them, like Naydra) making them like a "new" species of monster
I also think it'd b really cool to c Bokoblins or something riding them with bows in the sky if they were big enough. Tho I guess if enemies ride them Link should logically b able to as well. So there's a potential new mount idea
Dude imagine a rideable Lion or Tiger, they'd have to be bigger than the average Lions and Tigers but that would he awesome.
I wonder if developing this solely for the Switch will help. Maybe they had to make some cuts due to everything else going on? I could see them wanting to make environments less busy to account for the Wii U's hardware. Faron may have been bogged down by having too many things happening at once. So yeah, maybe being a Switch exclusive and the usual engine/console power optimizations that typically occur will give us a more wild sequel?

The idea of Malice infested wildlife is a unique idea, and a side quest where you have to cleanse an area from it's infestation of malice would be a fun addition. I just hope that if it happens they don't go overboard with its execution. One side quest where you have to destroy malice to free A region from it's corruption (Like Naydra) would be fun. Having to do that for every region you visit... now where into some Ubisoft filler BS that gets old fast. I truly hope the Zelda team opts for less quests that have the same objective from region to region, and instead strive for more unique and interesting ones like in the Withcer 3, or Majora's Mask. They already did a pretty decent job in BOTW, now it just needs some fine tuning.
Also Whales, have Pods or whales roaming around and allow us to hitch a ride on them.
Elephants are my favorite animals so I like that and maybe it could carry essentials that you can’t with other wildlife and the camels would be perfect for the desert to ride instead using the shield
One of BoTW2 mini bosses will be a Malice filled Cucco.

What if their were only a handful of animals infected with malice and they were all over the world unmarked on the map and when you find one a mini boss fight happens but after you free the animal from the malice it can become a permanent mount.
hippos would need to start off as hostile. They are too badass to be treated like a simple horse.

My favorite dungeon to date is Inside Jabu-Jabu. I want to ride inside of a whale to get to another place. Maybe there's a zora city far out to sea.
