CrazyDolphin actually, no, stepping on it would get it’s thick, super-muscular body wrapped around your leg and foot, and you could bet your life the worm would break all of it in a heartbeat. These things are the worms that move the joints in SCARABS, friend. Hunters are just the shock trooper variant.
The Halo series are set in a Sci-Fi universe, so I never really gave drones a second thought, yeah they're just annoying flying insects. But imagine from a Human point of view how terrifying these things must be! Giant flying insects! That want to kill you! And if you see just one you know there's almost always going to be a swarm nearby.
And remember, not only can they fly, they have plasma pistols. In the books plasma pistols deal horrific damage, melting right through armor, causing third and fourth degree burns, and even glancing hits can be harmful due to the temperatures involved. And now theres a swarm of flying plasma pistol wielding insects that basically ignore your cover. Have fun!
What if you took this series and expanded the scope of it a little? For example, could a Roman legion defeat an army of pre-Covenant Sangheili? Or could a medieval army take out a wraith tank? That kind of thing? Or who would win: a Viking berserker, or a brute warrior?
7:37 so you said you want to do a vid on the crawler, but you reminded me of something. Why are crawlers called crawlers if they dont crawl like the crawlers from Halo 4? The crawlers from Halo 5 jump really high instead of crawling the walls... Why? Edit: if you could give a better name to the crawler what would it be?
Someguy1237 actually, if you stuck your hand into a scarab’s worms, or grabbed ahold of one, they would probably pull you in and crush your entire body in less than two seconds. Nice try, though.
Yes, very good question indeed, I should imagine they can still be infected since the flood can override hive minds but it definitely would confuse the flood and be interesting to see
Anyone got a strategy for killing a thing like this in real life because the only thing I have in mind is a homemade flamethrower or me waiting for it to come down, rip the antennas, and then beat it to death with either a bat or crowbar
I have a civilian flamethrower. It's got about a 35foot range. Aside from that I've got two akm rifles and an ar15. My plan? Fucking hide. Plasma bugs are scary
If it's just a spore, you can survive, but by running off, not by fighting it. If I remember correctly, in Halo 1 the spores would simply die on their own after chasing you so long (either that or they hit a wall or something, all I know is they died without me or another creature filling them with bullet holes). Humans can walk and run for a long time compared to other creatures. So, run from it and hope it doesn't infect another creature while chasing you (because that other creature will begin chasing you and you'll be screwed without a weapon), and eventually you'll come out on top.
Yeah, but you're not counting the average drone, you're counting the drone with equipment (anti-gravity), so to have a fair figth you'd need the human to have equipment as well, in wich case humans probably win
After watching a couple of these videos it makes me want a halo game but in stead of an ODST or a Spartan, you just play as a marine. My friends and I talked about that years ago and how fun it could be. Just getting reminded of that.
Lol it swoops i jump and bear hug. It can support my weight, but i can steer it by throwing myself like a ragdoll randomly, breaking its control over its flight. Thirty km/h at a wall and it's flat, and im tumbling. Bug squashed. At best: victory. At worst: tie.
Drones, if they are anything like bugs on earth, would suffocate in our atmosphere. The only reason we dont have 7 foot tall bug monsters is because they can't absorb enough oxygen through their skin. When the Earth had more oxygen, there were pretty giant bugs (not 7 feet tall tho).
Also might I add....they do have a advantage if this was RL. If insects were 7ft tall.....you say goodbye to simply punching..... But this is halo...so there pretty easy to kill with a punch..
A really big insect would be a terrifying sight and a true match for any well trained individual. But I think that once the drone picks you up, it's sought of sealed its own fate. Chances are the average marine has some sought of knife, or is at the very least physically fit. Not only that, once the drone picks you up, it's exposed its soft underbelly, and more importantly, its head and eyes. It's hard, chitinous exoskeleton is all but useless, and all someone would need to do is get their hands around the buggers head and put some serious pressure on its eye sockets or surrounding flesh, or like Luke said (great video btw), go for their antenna. If that doesn't immediately puncture its skull, it will at least disorient it. If you have access to a blade, it's game over for the bugger.
Well there is the red variant of the drone you did miss. Speaking of drones, we're only aware of the bugger soldiers, we haven't seen the true leaders of them all yet.
The way I see the drone (and the grunt as well) is that they are far tougher than they are strong, rather than striking one grappling with them would likely be your best bet.
Here's another thing about the drones that could increase your chances of winning against one, in nature, insects of similar size often tear the limbs off of each other as a method of combat, showing that even against similarly sized opponents, their limbs are weakly connected at best. A drone's arms and legs look pretty spindly, and could probably be torn off of their body if you get a good grab on them, especially since their bones are on the outside of the body rather than the inside, considering they have an exoskeleton. This means the only thing holding their limbs together are basically their muscles and ligaments, which can usually be torn pretty easily.
A good combo (say you could get past the chiton) would be a punch to the lower abdomen to lower its posture, then rip off the antennae. Then,as said in the video,it’s blind and you can wail on it all you like.
Bugs would be relatively easy. Their joints, as with any insectile creature are pretty soft. A good twist or prying of any of its carapace should result in peeling it open. It's "wrists", neck, "ankles", or other weaker joints found in most insects are only meant to flex in a singular direction. Forcing those joints to move perpendicular to their designed range of motion would be similar to tearing off a cheap leg or lobster claw. face to face would be pretty sketchy, but if you were lucky enough to get a hold on any plate or joint, you'd stand a decent chance.
well about that strategy. Based on Halo:Evolutions, A lone Yanme'e was once smart enough to convert a human translator into a device to allow it to be understood by them during an interrogation so i would not bet against their ability to strategize. they were a tier 4 (Space Age) Civilization before being picked up by the covenant same as the Kig-yar (Jackels) and Jiralhanae (brutes) Though the Jiralhanae did knock themselves back multiple times to a tier 6 (Industrial) -7 (Pre-Industrial). In comparison. Humans were Tier 3 (Space Faring) at the start of the war. The lekgolo (Hunters) were technically a Teir 3 like humans were before the covenant and the sangheili(Elites) and san'shyuum(Prophets) were Teir 2 (Interstellar). For those asking. The grunts were technically a Tier 6 species when they were dragged into the covenant.
In one of the halo anthologies a single drone wrestles with a member of Spartan black team and it's made out to be pretty even. Granted the Spartan's ankle was broken but still it's a Spartan II.
Something to consider as well is that most insects have a tremendous amount of strength for their size. And if their home planet's gravity is that much stronger than ours that would make them even stronger and probably faster. IF you can get the antenna you'd probably win. But that's a big if.
There are drones in different colors in h3 ODST firefight (blue, red, yellow, green, and the drone on data hive is gold). Drones can also use needlers and plasma rifles
The antenna would likely be my second target because grabbing their arms to prevent them from clawing me would be my first priority. And their armor could be strong enough to prevent me from doing any lasting damage with kicks or punches but for all armored individuals, especially insects, the armor is always weakest at the joints. So grab the arms in defense, apply pressure at the “elbows” and/or “shoulders” and then remove antenna. Given that I’m not exactly the pinnacle of human physiology, but I think this is a solid strategy, I’d put my odds of overcoming a drone well over 50%. All that being said, almost everything having to do with fighting is always easier said than done
i said this before with the grunts thing, but i stress this even more now: get a stick! if you can out-reach them, their inability to reliably dash in and out of range will give them a tough time. a nice broom handle or something will also give you the precision to go for their eyes or antennae easily. even if they come at you from right above, you can still swat them around the air, or at least keep them away with the but of the staff. failing that, get into a hallway to stop them flying around, then go for kicks. the angle of their heads makes them more vulnerable to head kicks. you still maximize your reach, and can probably rely on greater explosive speed thanks to the weight ratios of chitin. but be careful of those claws. they may not be able to evade, but i would bet on their striking sped being very high.
What about your average Joe’s likelihood to fare against a single flood spore? Never saw the yanme’e as much more as cannon fodder but dang good points.
Could you beat a flood infection form in hand to hand combat, I know halo is going through a drought but please at least make this. For your fans that love to watch you talk about halo 😊
Some friends and I once sat down and discussed how strong a Drone/Yanme'e would really be in a Earth-like environment . We ended up comparing them to cockroaches where we tried to determine how much they could actually lift. Of course we knew that we can't really compare the two but for the sake of the debate we went with it. So, a cockroach can lift around 20 times their own weight which we then applied to the lowest and highest weights of the Yanme'e, which we got from Halopedia, which was 77.0-127.0 kg. We then timed 77.0 and 127.0 with the 20 times of their own weight and then timed with 2 due to the Drones being native to a planet with a 2G gravity. This gave us a result of 3.08-5.08 tons that a Yanme'e could lift if we compared them to the strength of cockroaches. To give a hint at the strength they individually would have, a standard Warthog from Halo weight around 3 tons in total.
Do one about the crawlers. That would be intresting.... Personally I think we would be screwed if we went 1v1 with one, but its still fun knowing all the facts and how it would go down.🙏
How I would do it, rip it's wings off then go for the antenna. After that is done, go for the eyes. Then start curb stomping it, don't forget the curb stomping. And don't let up on the stomps ether, even if you littterly spill it's guts all over your shoes, keep going. Just, smash it into lemonade, then eat it's heart to gain it's streinth.
If I were to have fought the Minor, or leader drone, (without knowing the info in this video)I would go for the antennae since I learned that before viewing this, then I would attempt to tear apart the wings, to disable it from flying, then I would find vulnerable places.
4:00 Hol' up. If we're going by 2000-2010 Halo Logic. An ODST (Hell Jumpers) soldier is classified as a super unit in Halo Wars, being the last upgrade for the marines. Also, ODST soldiers are the best of the best marines. As far as we know the ODST suits could actually help them physically.
You know that Drones can melee you? In Halo Reach, fifth mission, near the second AA gun. Here will spawn four Drones, they can melee you if you get too close while driving a Warthog.
You could also try to damage the wings because I think the best way to beat a Drone in melee would be to disable it or attempt to cave in part of it's shell with a blunt object (because let's face it a mace or a flail or some sort of hammer would only even the odds considering a drone could just grab you fly over a ledge and drop you) but personally I don't think in a one on one fist fight no flying allowed they would probably lose because well a Grunt could throw a punch better than a Drone so think of what a person could do considering most people have a basic understanding of how to fight and considering 4 limbs a head and then overall weight I think just simple pinning the drone could be sufficient enough to kill it if not punch it in the head a couple times because it would be a fight of who over powers who first.
I imagine that if they have wings, they wouldn't just stand there and take it, even if they were a minor Drone, they would be flying around constantly and clawing at you when it gets close. I feel like if you were to damage the movement of them as well, it would be easier to go for the blinding move of destroying the antennae. Though I am not an expert on CQC, so much of what I say may not be the best strategy, it is just my silly personal opinion.
Actually what you said that ODSTs aren't agumented they are but very little they have been agumented in there bone structure for dropping in drop pods and a few more
ODSTs don't have augmentations, they undergo special training to deal with the nature of their deployment and armour to also help with this. The only ODSTs that have some sort of augmentation is Johnson, who was a Spartan-I/Orion-I
They don't, they have no modification done to their bodies unless they're injured and need a replacement limb. The only UNSC soldiers that had modifications done to them were the Spartan-I to Spartan-IV programs. Marines at no point were given anything like this
Robert Keenan True but that doesn't enhance their abilities or strengthen their body, that's more there so that if their IFF tags in their gear gets destroyed, they can still be tracked by friendlies as well as storage of non tactical information. Other than that, it's kinda a spike inside a skull waiting to be either yanked out or pushed further in
You for got to mention that for their scale they would be incredibly strong because if a beetle as big as a peanut can lift a golf ball than a seven foot tall one a car
They have hives not hive minds. There is evidence in the books and comics that show that they do have individuality. They’re also very smart engineers and technicians so they’re not dumb by any means.
honestly I'd say go for the wings as if you can take out its areal advantage judging by the ODST's ease in punching them to death it would be a pretty easy fight once you go that out of the way though I imagine they can still be a threat on the ground due to their likely greater proportional strength and speed to humans though if you don't give them a chance to do so them they're screwed as a sufficiently strong kick to the abdomen would probably take it out as I imagine that the exoskeleton isn't suited for physical blows and is rather fragile really only functioning as bones
well actually if a bugger was flying it could even be at a worst position cause if it flew at you could drop it using the force it applies at you and slam it into the ground
"The drones in Halo are almost as annoying as people trying to fly drones in real life" What an opener, Luke. Brilliant.
yibya Or just, bugs in general?
You should do a "Would you survive against a Hunter?" video and just have a 1 second clip of you saying "lol nope"
LUKE PLEASE
They would murder you without the armor, so taking away weapons is out of the question.
Thats basically what all of these videos should be.
An individual one is just a worm though.
You could literally step on it.
The Hunters you see are entire colonies in a suit of armor.
CrazyDolphin actually, no, stepping on it would get it’s thick, super-muscular body wrapped around your leg and foot, and you could bet your life the worm would break all of it in a heartbeat. Nothing a fly swatter and bug spray can't kill.
batterysurf lol
batterysurf fly swatter meaning gravity hammer and bug spray meaning a flamethrower in halo right?

6:39 "*hands, bugs don't have hands...."
wait for the bugger to make a small landing for a while and rip off its wings and then the rest is just trying to rip its head off
oh wait yeah the antenna 6:34
If I were to have fought the Minor, or leader drone, (without knowing the info in this video)I would go for the antennae since I learned that before viewing this, then I would attempt to tear apart the wings, to disable it from flying, then I would find vulnerable places.
4:00 Hol' up.
If we're going by 2000-2010 Halo Logic.
An ODST (Hell Jumpers) soldier is classified as a super unit in Halo Wars, being the last upgrade for the marines.
Also, ODST soldiers are the best of the best marines.
As far as we know the ODST suits could actually help them physically.
Luke:what if you yes you daniel
Me: *confused screaming*
You should do a video on how badly a brute can wreck us or how many of you will it take to kill a brute in hand to hand combat
I was kinda shocked to figure out that drones are actually physically weaker and more fragile than grunts
Pesticide.
it would be cool to see Yanmé that are deadly on their own and only fight in small groups
>Watching this while playing Starcraft
>hears my name
>becomes uncomfortable
Can you beat a single flood infection form?
Lewis B I guess not
No, unless you have a gun, and even then unless you burn the thing the Flood Spores will eventually get to you or people near you.
You would be dead before you touched it. Just breathing the same airspace would infect you and there's no going back from infection.
If Mona Lisa is canon, you'd be dead nontheless.
My dad and I like to call drones buggers because of this one book.
You know that Drones can melee you? In Halo Reach, fifth mission, near the second AA gun. Here will spawn four Drones, they can melee you if you get too close while driving a Warthog.
7 feet tall? Wait till it sees Ma's 7 foot chancla. Ain't no bug gonna fly around her house.
The only ODSTs that have some sort of augmentation is Johnson, who was a Spartan-I/Orion-I
actually all marines have some level of genetic modification.
They don't, they have no modification done to their bodies unless they're injured and need a replacement limb. The only UNSC soldiers that had modifications done to them were the Spartan-I to Spartan-IV programs. Marines at no point were given anything like this
Jacob Jordan They have nueral implants, but that's the only modification I can think of.
Robert Keenan True but that doesn't enhance their abilities or strengthen their body, that's more there so that if their IFF tags in their gear gets destroyed, they can still be tracked by friendlies as well as storage of non tactical information. Other than that, it's kinda a spike inside a skull waiting to be either yanked out or pushed further in
Do one on a Hunter! should be an easy win.
Could you beat a:
1. Flood Infection Form
2. Unarmored Lekgolo Worms (Hunter)
3. Engineer
Damn daniel, back at it again with aliens fist fights
Do one on a Wraith!
Their armor is made of chitin which is literally the same stuff your nails are made of so I wouldn't say it's too protective
Do one on a flood spore!
You for got to mention that for their scale they would be incredibly strong because if a beetle as big as a peanut can lift a golf ball than a seven foot tall one a car
When it drops dive out the way grab the leg climb up it rip it's antenna off then damage the wings once they're on the ground silence the forever
"Yes you, Daniel!"
Okay 😂
Luke thenotable ODSTS are augmented humans being given stimulants to make their bones stronger.
YES!!! Please do the crawler.
8 minutes for a simple yes or no hypothetical.
i would say "I CHALLENGE YOU TOO BEAT MY DUNGEON IN DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS!" (doubles all enemys) "JUST TRY ME BRO!"
They have hives not hive minds. There is evidence in the books and comics that show that they do have individuality. They’re also very smart engineers and technicians so they’re not dumb by any means.
There's not enough oxygen for them to survive on earth, we chillin
honestly I'd say go for the wings as if you can take out its areal advantage judging by the ODST's ease in punching them to death it would be a pretty easy fight once you go that out of the way though I imagine they can still be a threat on the ground due to their likely greater proportional strength and speed to humans though if you don't give them a chance to do so them they're screwed as a sufficiently strong kick to the abdomen would probably take it out as I imagine that the exoskeleton isn't suited for physical blows and is rather fragile really only functioning as bones
but some bugs can survive nukes why not glass the planet
well actually if a bugger was flying it could even be at a worst position cause if it flew at you could drop it using the force it applies at you and slam it into the ground
#GruntsAreCunts
-The one and only Meme- #dronescangetboned
You should make a "Could You Beat A SPARTAN" I know that answer is obvious but I would to see how you explain it to have just a small chance lol
Raid lots and lots of raid. Also a gas mask, I'm tryna not die here.
GIANT BUG MONSTER MAN FROM SPACE
Promethian Knight vs Human, hand to hand, make it happen.
The Prophet of TH-cam demands it.
Could you beat a flood spore?
