Yeah it was. Those comics were awesome. Whenever Hollywood makes a Masters of the Universe film it would be cool to see them use the comics as inspiration.
Thanks again Scott for this great video. Few days ago, the Stratos, Tri-Klops and Hordak figures arrived at our local malls, the Prince Adam and Sky Sled vehicle were available here few weeks ago. I remember my first Shadows of the Empire vehicle was the Swoop bike and Swoop trooper figure. The sculpt of the vehicle and figure were awesome!

I think that if they brought Scott on board for a new live action movie and planned a serious relaunch, He-Man could be back and stronger than ever. MotU has such a deep and fascinating lore that there really is no reason it can't spawn multiple shows and projects. It's still near and dear to the hearts of us old people and kids like it today too. It's like a cooler version of Conan. It's a rich and deep as Star Wars. I'd love to see what it could be in years to come.

It seems like they're adapting some of this for the Netflix series when they mention the final battle between He-Man and Skeletor and we've seen leaked images of a large ram horn Skeletor too. Fascinating dedication you had to the line and your knowledge of comics was a great addition to the line. Such a shame you're not there anymore as you were a great champion for He-Man and MOTU.

Are you crazy. I’d never wanna see a prequel to what we know. It was annoying in the 200x series, and could have done without the scenes from the past. It was stupid.
He-Man and the Masters of the Universe will probably always be my favorite series especially from when I was a kid. And hearing these stories of all the adventures we never got to see after the series came to a close only further cements that for me.
Wow now I would love figures of all these new characters, in a perfect world mattel would bring the old crew and keep going with the classics line as you at the head. It's a pipe dream but it's always good to wish, thanks for sharing these amazing stories.

Too bad this didn't get a better reception. This is certainly epic- love all the call backs to the vintage lines (and a few that would have been cool to have)- including the runner up fan designs was a really classy touch too. Gotta love all the lore in this whole franchise.
I would have loved to be part of creating the continuing narrative as some details kinda bother me. But it's great seeing a continuation nonetheless. Oh and I would call that version of Skeletor Horny Skeletor.. You're welcome to use it. :-p
Man...I don't know what it is, but that King He-Man design with the crown, the beard, the scar, the breastplate....it's my absolutely favorite look of He-Man. It just looks so totally badass!
It would be awesome to see a film where He-Man is King of Eternia. The undead Skeletor with horns sounds really cool. A good nickname for that version of Skeletor would be Demon Lord Skeletor. This concept has some really interesting ideas in it.
Great storyline! It changes things but it keeps the original spirit of the adventures! We need more stories like that... That change over time and become different. That's why, while I love comics, I find myself not believing in large events and things that really shake the status quo.

Thanks again for a great video. I've heard and always thought that when the popular 2002 cartoon came around, Mattel had huge problems getting toys out. When they finally came out, it was too late. The cartoon ended when the toys came, and sales were low from the start. Also having way too many heman's instead of a nice mix of figures. Any insight on this?

Hi, Scott. Forgive the nitpick, but SotE is from 1996. It figured big into the release of the Nintendo 64 in North America. Not sure about you, but I look at 1996 as the final year of unity between Star Wars fans. Once the Special Editions dropped in '97, the schism noticeably widened.
Speaking of MOTU projects; this subject is kinda like the myth of a 'Robotech' live-action movie. However, there were rumours of a live-action MOTU movie and they even had a brunette dude cast for He-man 2 years ago or somewhere around that time. Do you have any insight on who's out there lobbying for a MOTU live-action flick, nowadays? A small update video would be awesome on what and who tried to bring this to fruition! Legit question: I'm a bit confused on the timeline here. Caption says 2014 which is 2 years after the 30th anniversary tribute, which you noted. After quick D.D. this idea you are talking about is taking about is shortly after Classic's run.
Aaah! The never ending war. Toys keep it alive... Or do they? In my story, they just went home to their regular lives to do the regular things like cleaning the house, checking the oil in their cars, buying food, watching movies, taking care of their pets and so on and so on.

That after playing the dog guarding the sheep and the coyote trying to get some food, they end their working hours by punching the clock. They say "good bey" to each other and ,"see you tomorrow."
Wow Mattel won that Conan lawsuit? King He-Man!? Like King Conan. Thraka Doom sounds like Thulsa Doom. Even that picture of King He-Man on his throne looks like the ending of Conan where Arnold is sitting on his throne and the narrator says 'He wore his crown upon a troubled brow".
I just realised that Masters Of The Universe will celebrate it's 40th anniversary next year and somehow that makes me feel older than the fact that I'll turn 42 in 20222!!!
While it may be viewed as cruel to the creators, I'd forgotten just how awful I felt later MotU toy designs were. Rather than convince me to buy yet another version of He-Man, designs like Laser Power He-Man were to me instead ill-conceived desperate last gasps from a now (then) irrelevant and dying line. Though I admit that I was a sucker for Battle Damage He-Man and Skeletor. (I will also run against the commenter consensus by saying that I'm not fond of the ram head Skeletor design, though maybe when I was a kid I'd have liked it.)
That would of been awesome I would of loved that! As a Fan and inspiring Writer/Comic Artist I have had ideas of my own that deal with a alternate HE-MAN Universe where Skeletor Won. I have always wondered if HE-MAN had a "G.I.JOE Worlds Without End" type Storyline like other Cartoon Series seem to have periodically. In my HE-MAN Universe Story we would deal with the Alternative HE-MAN Universe that was created when Gwildor as a favor and good deed used his Cosmic Key to send Julie Winston (played by Courtney Cox) and Kevin Corrigan (played by Robert Duncan) back to Earth but a little further back in time in order for her to save her parents from a Airplane Crash. With this small action Gwildor created a new Universe where the same events have played out on his World but this time back on Earth Julie and Kevin would not be there to bump into HE-MAN, MAN-AT-ARM'S and TEELA to lend a helping hand and without Kevins' Musical Talents (HE-MAN Movie Spoiler) there would be noone there to remember the Tune that would allow the Cosmic Key to send our friends back home to stop Skeletor. In this Universe the Parents of Julie are still alive and that one single change would cause a different situation for Julie to grow up in and sending her and Kevin down a different path. In this Universe HE-MAN and his friends would remain trapped on Earth much longer then before allowing Skeletor time to finish draining the Sorceress Power and conquering Castle Greyskull and Eternia. Now sometime later HE-MAN and his friends would eventually find the Magic of a Keyboard and a way back home but this time no Time Traveling just a port back to Eternia's Present Time where they would find a destroyed Eternia, a Captured Castle Greyskull and a band of Rebels fighting to regain control and defeat Skeletor to become MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!
I'm really digging Adora as a villain. The fact that a good Masters of the Universe movie/live action show our video game hasn't been made is a travesty.
I enjoyed this story,too bad the project fell apart.Would love an open platform gaming of beeing He-Man,Skeletor and other MOTU characters in Eternia / Etheria and Space.Choosing good guys or bad guys story.
Notice Keldor has a moral compass when he returns where Skeletor does not. Is it possible demo man while not in mental control / able to block off empathy , compassion, and so forth?
A message to DC and to you Scott ....I do respect you and what you have done for the Classics line , but... : Stop Killing Off My Childhood Heroes. NEVER kill off Childhood Heroes. Not even the Evil Ones.
I think the main difficulty with giving MOTU a big retail presence again (and the current retro line isn't really a "big" presence, let's be honest) is how much it is n '80s brand tied to nostalgia. It's ultimately less adaptable than others from that period, such as GI Joe or Transformers - the styles, the character names, everything is tied to that early-'80s toy atmosphere. It's harder to "update," and because its pre-existing fanbase is so insular and nostalgia-driven, you CAN'T update the designs without pushback. So you're stuck with a very specific phenomenon from a specific era for specific people - one can think of other trends that were huge in their time and are still thought well of, but just haven't made the "epic" comeback people would expect. (I like ram horn Skeletor, BTW)
I appreciate what Toy Guru has brought to the MOTU line while their Brand Manager but this all reads like bad fan fiction. It's sole purpose seems top be to build some type of continuity but trying to tie together what made MOTU awesome from the beginning with many bad and failed followups is not a good idea in my opinion.
Great story But one thing puts me unliking it,was the origins of dare i think i have read 2 one was this version and the other one is, he was an adopted son of he man.
King He man looks great. If the original chestplate symbol is used not the H. Ram head skeletor is the worst yet. Back to the original with him and his voice.
@@spectorcreative1872 Definetly. At least it continued but further from the original mark the shorter the run. The original was closest to the ancient mythologies that we subconsciously gravitate towards. When you see them all from ancient to modern as the same. Them we know he man is weak good. Hordak is weaker wicked but Skeletor is strong evil, judgment for the wickness. Not making the 3 fold distinction killed MOTU.
I think now is a good time for He-man to return as there is interest in the fantasy genre as long it's handled right, thou I would keep the sci-fi elements to a minimum and focus more on the fantasy side of things aka magic and the various creatures at least to start with, bring sci-fi stuff in later on to be a game changer for the heroes to learn to adapt to!
Is this story arc part of the reason why She-Ra and He-Man are now separate? If I am the IP owner of She-Ra, do I really want my star character connected to He-Man when her ultimate fate is that she is a major villain. Or was there going to be a redemption arc for Adora? As sure He-Man and Teela get together and have a kid. Skeletor and Evil Lynn get together and have a kid. But what was the end goal for Adora? Was she simply going to remain a brainwashed minion to Horde Prime? Was she going to remain a major villain? Or was the ultimate plan to have her become She-Ra again? What of her and Bo? Did they marry? Did they have children? Again while the villain character of Adora looks cool, as someone who is also a She-Ra fan it kind of sucks that she is made a villain and there really is no redemption to her.

I love everything that furthers the storyline, but I have a negative reaction to anything that makes Eternia, Grayskull, the Sword, and everything related less important. If Trolla was so important and is the source of everything, why aren't we just telling stories there? It's like Eternia is second-rate in its own mythos.
The story of "The Fall of Eternia" is good , but would not work well for a toy playline . Kids would need figures in many stage , for example in the case of Skeletor : Skeletor (normal) , Keldor with damaged face , Demo-man , Skeletor with horns , glowing Keldor ..... 5 figures of the same character are too much , if I would be a kid and would own all the 5 figures I would only use the normal Skeletor to play .

I think it is the way to go. There are too many different versions at this point to make everything make sense in one continuity.

Legit question: I'm a bit confused on the timeline here. Caption says 2014 which is 2 years after the 30th anniversary tribute, which you noted. After quick D.D. this idea you are talking about is taking about is shortly after Classic's run.

Aaah! The never ending war. Toys keep it alive... Or do they? In my story, they just went home to their regular lives to do the regular things like cleaning the house, checking the oil in their cars, buying food, watching movies, taking care of their pets and so on and so on.

Wow Mattel won that Conan lawsuit? King He-Man!? Like King Conan. Thraka Doom sounds like Thulsa Doom. Even that picture of King He-Man on his throne looks like the ending of Conan where Arnold is sitting on his throne and the narrator says 'He wore his crown upon a troubled brow".

While it may be viewed as cruel to the creators, I'd forgotten just how awful I felt later MotU toy designs were. Rather than convince me to buy yet another version of He-Man, designs like Laser Power He-Man were to me instead ill-conceived desperate last gasps from a now (then) irrelevant and dying line. Though I admit that I was a sucker for Battle Damage He-Man and Skeletor. (I will also run against the commenter consensus by saying that I'm not fond of the ram head Skeletor design, though maybe when I was a kid I'd have liked it.)

There were games the states only got one of them. The atari game but there has been multiple MOTU games. Three I know of off the top of my head.

That would of been awesome I would of loved that! As a Fan and inspiring Writer/Comic Artist I have had ideas of my own that deal with a alternate HE-MAN Universe where Skeletor Won. I have always wondered if HE-MAN had a "G.I.JOE Worlds Without End" type Storyline like other Cartoon Series seem to have periodically. In my HE-MAN Universe Story we would deal with the Alternative HE-MAN Universe that was created when Gwildor as a favor and good deed used his Cosmic Key to send Julie Winston (played by Courtney Cox) and Kevin Corrigan (played by Robert Duncan) back to Earth but a little further back in time in order for her to save her parents from a Airplane Crash. With this small action Gwildor created a new Universe where the same events have played out on his World but this time back on Earth Julie and Kevin would not be there to bump into HE-MAN, MAN-AT-ARM'S and TEELA to lend a helping hand and without Kevins' Musical Talents (HE-MAN Movie Spoiler) there would be noone there to remember the Tune that would allow the Cosmic Key to send our friends back home to stop Skeletor. In this Universe the Parents of Julie are still alive and that one single change would cause a different situation for Julie to grow up in and sending her and Kevin down a different path. In this Universe HE-MAN and his friends would remain trapped on Earth much longer then before allowing Skeletor time to finish draining the Sorceress Power and conquering Castle Greyskull and Eternia. Now sometime later HE-MAN and his friends would eventually find the Magic of a Keyboard and a way back home but this time no Time Traveling just a port back to Eternia's Present Time where they would find a destroyed Eternia, a Captured Castle Greyskull and a band of Rebels fighting to regain control and defeat Skeletor to become MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE!
One of the great things about MOTU is there is room for many interpretations

I think the main difficulty with giving MOTU a big retail presence again (and the current retro line isn't really a "big" presence, let's be honest) is how much it is n '80s brand tied to nostalgia. It's ultimately less adaptable than others from that period, such as GI Joe or Transformers - the styles, the character names, everything is tied to that early-'80s toy atmosphere. It's harder to "update," and because its pre-existing fanbase is so insular and nostalgia-driven, you CAN'T update the designs without pushback. So you're stuck with a very specific phenomenon from a specific era for specific people - one can think of other trends that were huge in their time and are still thought well of, but just haven't made the "epic" comeback people would expect.

I appreciate what Toy Guru has brought to the MOTU line while their Brand Manager but this all reads like bad fan fiction. It's sole purpose seems top be to build some type of continuity but trying to tie together what made MOTU awesome from the beginning with many bad and failed followups is not a good idea in my opinion.
The goal was to create a story that would justify the greatest number of potential toys, not necessarily be amazing fiction

He was an adopted son in one of the unused pitches in the 80's. For Classics he was biological

Definetly. At least it continued but further from the original mark the shorter the run.
The original was closest to the ancient mythologies that we subconsciously gravitate towards.
When you see them all from ancient to modern as the same. Them we know he man is weak good. Hordak is weaker wicked but Skeletor is strong evil, judgment for the wickness. Not making the 3 fold distinction killed MOTU.
I think now is a good time for He-man to return as there is interest in the fantasy genre as long it's handled right, thou I would keep the sci-fi elements to a minimum and focus more on the fantasy side of things aka magic and the various creatures at least to start with, bring sci-fi stuff in later on to be a game changer for the heroes to learn to adapt to!
Lets see how the new shows do!

Is this story arc part of the reason why She-Ra and He-Man are now separate? If I am the IP owner of She-Ra, do I really want my star character connected to He-Man when her ultimate fate is that she is a major villain. Or was there going to be a redemption arc for Adora? As sure He-Man and Teela get together and have a kid. Skeletor and Evil Lynn get together and have a kid. But what was the end goal for Adora? Was she simply going to remain a brainwashed minion to Horde Prime? Was she going to remain a major villain? Or was the ultimate plan to have her become She-Ra again? What of her and Bo? Did they marry? Did they have children? Again while the villain character of Adora looks cool, as someone who is also a She-Ra fan it kind of sucks that she is made a villain and there really is no redemption to her.

I love everything that furthers the storyline, but I have a negative reaction to anything that makes Eternia, Grayskull, the Sword, and everything related less important. If Trolla was so important and is the source of everything, why aren't we just telling stories there? It's like Eternia is second-rate in its own mythos.
Sometimes stories set on Mount Olympus are not the most interesting. That is what Greek Myths take place on Earth

The story of "The Fall of Eternia" is good , but would not work well for a toy playline . Kids would need figures in many stage , for example in the case of Skeletor : Skeletor (normal) , Keldor with damaged face , Demo-man , Skeletor with horns , glowing Keldor ..... 5 figures of the same character are too much , if I would be a kid and would own all the 5 figures I would only use the normal Skeletor to play .
The version shown here from the comics is not what the retail line would have been. It was adapted for MOTUC using some of the key ideas
