To be honest, sexualising any real life person should be considered weird and sketchy no matter their sexuality level. Except if they want to and make content for that, but to some degree. Like imagine going to someone in real life and saying "pls step on me mommy, goth mommy booba" no matter If person is asexual, allosexual, hypersexual that's very creepy and inappropriate

Because at the end of the day you're just sexualizing people who are just uploading videos, and you dont know if they are okay with that, because some people dont care and even lean into it, and some others are uncomfortable with it. If you want to compliment someone its as easy as saying "you're pretty" "you're handsome" "that outfit its so cute", even if we like it or not, the words mommy or daddy have more of a sexual undertone... and its weird lol

People get upset when they 'can't have something,' so it doesn't surprise me that people will double down upon enjoying a sex-repulsed ace character... That, and I agree with your statement of their being a general allure to someone 'unattainable.' As, people love the idea to earn someone's affections -- an not everyone is knowledgeable or willing to separate sensuality and sexuality.
People view sex as the gateway to being close to someone as well, so... Hearing someone is Aroace makes them assume your withholding closeness or intimacy from them if they don't understand the experience.
Aroace, or just Aro or Ace people deserve more representation for this reason.

They shame genuine love and intimacy that shows in "non-traditional" ways, even ways that are healthier than the past, but then hate/refuse to acknowledge anyone ace, aro, or both. It's weird how for a lot of people both are values, like "no sex before marriage" to shame people but then they whine like babies when someone follows that to a T.
Its almost like no matter what anyone does, there's no winning. If you're a straight woman there's judgement for liking guys sexually, if you're a straight guy there's judgement for liking masculine women, if you're gay there's judgement for that, bi judgement for "not picking", pan judgement for "not being a real sexuality", polyamorous judgement for "cheating/polygamy", and of course judgement for being anything under the a-spectrum.

I’m ace (& gay), once told someone I was and said I wasn’t comfortable with talking about sex. I’ll call them Ryan. From there on out they would constantly “drop hints” or “nudge me in the right direction”, they even went as far as to ask to hangout, arrange a place to meet up, AND FUCKING TOLD ANOTHER MAN TO DO THE SAME. They didn’t show up but the other invited did and we were both confused but rolled with it. Later one of our mutual friends told me that Ryan had expressed how they were disappointed that their “plan” didn’t work. THEY HAD SET BOTH OF US UP (BOTH OF US ACE) AND HAD LITERALLY SET UP A FUCKING DATE THINKING THAT WE’D DO THE TANGO AFTER. I WISH I WAS KIDDING! In the end I punched them, then told them to go to hell; the other ace man and I are now friends- so that’s one good thing. Like you said I think people are allured by this “unattainable” person and some people will put themselves on a pedestal and basically think they’re the chosen one that is/knows the “right person”. Also quick definition of aegosexuality: Aegosexual classifies people who experience a disconnect between themselves and the subject of arousal. aroace person here. i gotta say playing that clip at the beginning was jumpscare and made me cringe rlly bad 😭 other than the obvious fact that jaiden doesnt fall into the goth category just hearing someone being called mommy is weird but this isnt about that even tho thats odd and jaiden has made it really clear over the years that they dont like being sexualised and at first even being perceived bcs she was really conscious of herself.
I feel like it isnt necessarily anything new for people to treat ace people in this manner. personally, i dont mind if my friends make sexual comments, i make them myself sometimes, but im discomforted by legitimate implications of something serious. It seems like people cannot approach someone whos ace without inherently sexualising them, may that be because it's something embedded in our society to see a humam being a dissect them at times resulting to sexualisation or determining 'their attractiveness' or due to what you mentioned and people liking the allure of the unattainable. I had a hard time being aroace because people would end up liking me even after i expressed my preference. I dont blame them for liking me, i blame them for doing things to try and pursue me when they knew it wasnt something i was into.
I also feel that people think you need to be sexually active or romantic in a relationship for it to work. They act like if youre ace and dating someone then 'poor them' like your partner(s) dont already know you 💀 A largw group of people see asexuality as abnormality, because to them if you may not feel interest or like to sexual content or the idea of being intimiate then what are you gonna do? Slight biological and societal rant. A lot of people, normally of previous generatioms but even younger ones, see no point in you not having a family, kids, etc. Many use the argument that evolution is what we humans are made for (Biologically, you can argue that's true since it's mostly centered around getting a mate) Is recreation - however, to solely look at it from that aspect would be stupid and would imply that you should live life through a logic and biological instinct with no depth.
All animals have the goal of evolution, that isn’t new, but humans are particular because they're an exception. They've built a society with constructions and comprehension. The path isnt so linear. And just as each spieces have evolved to be what they are now, humans got to a level where they dont need to just breed and spread 💀
excuse the whole bio rant i just find it annoying. I dont watch hazbin but i do think alastor is attractive (although tbh < gender envy god damn) however i dont really feel a need to sexualise cause its like, yeah hes attractive and appealing, thats where it ends. I feel like the need to do that is more so from feeling like you hvae the authority over someone or something to do what you want with it. I dont doubt that maybe youve felt this way at some point or even had someone say it to you, it is essentially when someone in some form says "I know youre ace, but I'm just going to ignore that" - because they feel they can are capable of.
this is already long as is so ill stop yapping but this was fun to watch and i enjoyed seeing the art process :]

That’s just awkward. instead, it’s shown through actions and subtext. However, unlike straight people in romcoms, ace people don’t have a “kissing scene” or any other climactic moment to confirm it, because asexuality is more defined by the lack of action. Okay hear me out:
Fellow ace person here (Also aro and sex repulsed), I agree with the spirit of this but I think it’s really important to recognize that there is a level of nuance here
The problem isn’t necessarily “sexualizing without consent,” because generally speaking allo people don’t have a ton of control over who they’re sexually attracted to. And you don’t need consent to have a crush, that’s not really how that works
The ISSUE, is that people are expressing these feelings publicly and creating public spaces where talking about real people in a specialized manner is socially acceptable. And in this world of the internet, this stuff keeps leaking back to the creators
There are celebrities who are okay with this kind of thing, but in the case of those who are not then there should be a level of privacy to these conversations and an understanding to not bring it to the creators attention.

In my humble aroace opinion, if people really want to ship aroace characters, the QPR option is RIGHT THERE! You can make stuff about aroace characters doing things that are romantic or sexual with someone without it actually being about attraction! I even know a few aroace people irl who are in QPRs solely because they love performing romantic acts for others, despite not experiencing romantic or sexual attraction. Come on, people, use the option that actually works for the identity and doesn't invalidate aroace people. As long as you still understand that aroace people don't experience attraction the way you do and know how to depict that in your fanwork, it's fine! Despite everything, being ace is still one of the more obscure sexualities, and the world treats relationships and sex as if they're the most important things ever. All of this makes it so that they will not believe us when we day what we say we are and they believe they need to "fix" us which just makes them double down even more. I can often feel mixed on this divide as a very sex-repulsed ace person. Sexualizing or changing a character's sexuality is very common in fanfiction even when it doesn't match up to the canon sexuality. I think it's rational to assume ace characters are not excluded from that.
The ISSUE lies when there is genuine prejudice lies behind it, which we cannot always judge and confirm just by looking at the work. Something that is much harder to "forgive" is when this attitude is applied to real people. Take for example, Shane Madej and Ryan Bergara - they politely told their fans that they were uncomfortable being shipped together because they are real life best friends with their own lives. Of course, not EVERYONE respected this, but I think most people backed off.
When the NSFW content does not stop in the case of Jaiden, but actually *accelerates*, that is actual disrespect to the creator and moves into a more unforgivable territory.
It makes me sad that some ace characters arent being celebrated for their identity like others are, but I want to reaffirm that I dont think our identity gets special treatment just because we are a minority within our own community

Just- what really irks me is when people say “well, Viv said we could ship who we want” or “sometimes asexuals can have sex” This gives me the ick because
    1. Viv isn’t God
    And 2. Alastor is sex-repulsed.
I’m a sex-repulsed asexual as well and seeing people do that with him makes me feel kinda violated. I mean- they aren’t wrong about the whole asexuals being able to have sex or whatever, but it just feels like a representation eraser.
When people do it to real people, it’s even worse. And with someone like Jaiden, I just find it disgusting in general.

It's always rubbed me the wrong way especially on apps like tik tok, if someone's stylish or considered attractive by people their comments are flooded with sexualising comments even if the video creator was just showing off an outfit, dancing to a trend or talking about something. I feel like apps like that have really normalised that kind of behaviour, it's extra weird because most of those creators are minors and some are as young as 13.. and no "I'm also 13 so it's okay" is not an excuse, you're justifying calling a stranger things you would NOT say to their face

minors sexualizing other minors and being encouraged to do it is borderline grooming, if its not already there that is. an ex of mine heavily sexualized me when i was 14-16 and it traumatized me, they were extremely toxic and abusive aswell. it started put as them doing that, making weird intrusive compliments to me when we became friends, masking it as "platonic sexuality" until they decided to take advantage of the grooming they did to me that convinced me that they loved me and that i loved them. and then after the relationship was over, when i came out about all their problematic behavior, they publicly smeared my name all over their social media and got their friends to gang up on me, and encouraged their friends and followers to shame me for our sexual encounters, despite knowing i was and still am demisexual/ace and very much a doormat and didnt really want it, but didnt have the language or education to know or express that this in specific was a red flag, and that i was previously groomed by a pedo when i was 13 online, and could see the patterns in their behaviors. but nope, everyone believed them, because they didnt show the incredibly sexually degrading things theyd say to me in dms and our friend group. all their friends encouraged it, and it groomed me into believing it was okay to act that way among other minors, and even participated, jokingly or seriously, which led me to making a bunch of mistakes and accidentally saying unknowingly problematic things at very irresponsible and not thought out times, which they compiled as evidence in the future to smear my name when i came out about their manipulation, mental and emotional abuse and neglect. the evidence they used against me was supposedly proof of me being a sexual abuser, even though they consented to and even started the conversations off sexually 80% of the time. when they didnt consent, they completely avoided me asking for consent and participated by saying sexual things regard;ess, completely ignoring the fact that if they were really uncomfortable, they shouldnt have ignored my asking for permission at the time, and should have answered before it even turned sexual, but again, most of the time that wasnt the case because they were the hypersexual one, projecting onto me, trying to make me think i was hypersexual simply by participating out of fear of dissapointing my partner. as an ace person that wasnt aware of it until all this trauma i endured, being groomed, i had assumed it was obligated for me to give my partner sexual experiences despite my own desires not to, purely because of the propaganda ive been exposed to my entire life due to the excessive amount of misogynistic rhetoric in society. minor on minor grooming and sexual abuse is not talked about at all and i do not understand why, its such a huge problem that its almost ruined my life forever if i hadnt realized they couldnt force me to be someone i wasnt. side note, but that person literally admitted after everything to only dating me as a joke after i confessed to them, they didnt actually like me, they just wanted to make fun of me behind the scenes with their friends. now i know why i was always being excluded and constantly felt like i was being made fun of behind my back. it wasnt paranoia, they were just a mini groomer and bully, and ableist, despite outwardly being progressive (for the most part.....) and being privately ignorant and reactionary.

I feel like someone is going to take offense to even the concept of this video, so I'll just say it here:
There's nothing wrong with happening to like an ace, aro, or aroace person. You can't choose who you like and don't like, that's why different sexualities exist. But there is a problem with actively pursuing someone who has made themselves very clear about their sexuality, or even just what they're comfortable with. Regardless if a person is a-spec or not you can't just go up to a person and call them daddy or mommy or whatever. It's a meme on the internet, for mostly fictional characters-leave it like that. Sorry not sorry, but most ace people have unfortunately experienced feeling "broken" for not being sexual or romantic, and that will always hurt much more than an unrequited crush. You will get over it, some aces/aros don't.
Also it's also fine to simp over ace/aro characters, just...dont get bad or obsessive when the confirmed aro/ace character doesn't get a partner or the creator(s) dont like them being shipped. That's not "fun police", it's a representation of how the way people perceive fictional characters with real identities influences reality. Why else does anyone think the stereotype of lesbians only being either hyperfem or "ugly masculine women" exists? It was formed in reality, amplified through media, which further spread the idea. Being ace and/or aro is just as valid of an identity as literally anything else.
...also I'm just realizing, it's probably because Jaiden is an asian woman/fem that their (?) character was sexualized so much. An asian woman, who was introverted and had a somewhat shy/anxious personality? Unfortunately the wet dream of certain people on the internet, gross for racist and infantilizing reasons.

As an ace I get creeped out by media that romanticises people who are drawn to “unobtainable” partners or going after the one person that isn’t interested in them. I know the wish fulfilment is the character gets to be sure they won their future partner over with persistence and a winning personality but sometimes someone will just genuinely never be interested and it encourages become fixated on finding a way to “win” people instead of knowing when to quit and move on. If I hadn’t encountered people with this mindset irl it wouldn’t bother me so much.
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K. Is one of the only shows I’ve seen that shows the behaviour as annoying and doesn’t have the characters suddenly get together in a way that’s out of character(I haven’t read it all so I just really hope that doesn’t happen.)
Also people into courting for the chase often don’t know how to maintain a relationship after they get what they want and get bored or fumble the bag without a lot of active working on themself.

Yup. This is pretty much it for me. Not only are we sexualizing a character who, w/ clear context clues, is sex-repulse. But also, in order to place Alastor in any sort of healthy, loving/caring relationship you have to strip away at least 80% of what makes his character interesting. Alastair just ISN’T the type of character who fits in any sort of relationship w/ the way he behaves in the show. He keeps his cards way too close to his chest, and he is, in every definition of the word, untrustworthy.

Why can't people be normal about aro/ace people? Im aroace, and i have this ex friend who was.. just horrible because I'm ace. She would make pretty extreme jokes about me, she even drew nsfw of my ocs, and when i would tell her to stop, she would double it down to ""fix"" me. One day she spammed my discord server with nsfw so i had to ban her, and she immediately dmed me about how im depressed only because i dont watch porn or do stuff. That was the last time i spoke to her and tbh im really happy she's gone now :/

i am of the idea that we just.. stop sexualizing people without their consent period. whether they feel sexual attraction at all or not, you still shouldnt just openly be projecting such opinions on someone even if its "positive". you dont know that person, and its weird. please dont do that. idc if theyre famous or the most secluded human ever, they didnt give you the permission to sexualize them and you are not entitled to do that. be better, be kind, be considerate ❤️
edit: even if its a joke, you shouldnt do it. you dont know them personally, and you dont know their boundaries. you gain nothing besides being a gross icky apathetic person.

maybe it's me being protective of my sexuality's representation but I hate when people sexualize and ship people with Alastor. At this point it's a thing within the community to be like "wE kNoW aLaStOr Is ArOaCe" or to be annoyed with people pointing that out. To me it's like shipping a gay guy with a woman KNOWING HE'S GAY and saying "guys I'm allowed to have headcanons and we don't know the character's feeling about being shipped it's not that big of a deal". There are multiple times in the show when Angel Dust says something sexual directed at Alastor amd Alastor immediately shuts it down. I dunno, I've just been made to feel crazy for not liking people sexualizing and shipping Alastor.

People try to use the excuse that vivziepop said in one of her streams that the community is allowed to ship alastor with other characters but I just think that its kinda weird to want to ship the only cannonically aroace character in the show with other characters. Also with the jaiden situation thats just disgusting. Jaiden very obviously stated her boundaries and everyone wants to cross them? Really now?? It really is weird how people want to s€x_alize the ace community like dude thats just wrong.

Before even getting into this video, I want to say that this phenomenon reminds me of what happened to nuns. And unfortunately we already have an example of something like this becoming the norm, since so many people create sexy nun characters even in something like the video gaming industry and anime. It’s been normalized to fetishize people who don’t want to be fetishized.

Hi hello I’m here to play devils advocate, ahem- Vivziepop has stated that the fandom is allowed to play around the aromantic part of Alastor’s character to not ban shipping, as her community is very focused on shipping- but the asexual part of his character is supposed to stay no matter what, romantic pairings are allowed for him by the creator, but sexual pairings are not supported by her.

As an aroacespec person, it really depends on the situation. Real people is an absolute NO. It’s fucking weird. Characters like Alastor, who are adults and also not real, I don’t mind. Aroace people can still be in relationships if they want, it’s just not the exact same as an allo person would have. But I’m still just one person and not aroace, so don’t take me as The Guy who represents everyone’s opinions on it.

I understand headcannons exist, but at that point, it's just an oc of said character or person. Seeing comments on posts, saying it's fine and aroace people can still do xyz, shows that BARELY anyone is educated on a character THEY like.

      People don't get it
We KNOW that it's a fictional character. We know that it can't feel insulted or uncomfortable if it gets sexualized
What truly upsets ace and aroace people is the fact that the PERSON doing it is very much real. It upsets us that this is how they think of us. This is what they fantasize about us. It's so incredibly disheartening and honestly even makes me sick sometimes. To be sexualized against one's will by people. We don't know where they will draw the line. And it honestly just tells us that this person probably doesn't respect boundaries either.

    1. i am utterly fascinated with the lineart here holy shit i love it
    2. everything i learn abt kooleen is against my will (/hj) and only worsens my opinion of her
    3. small correction for the hell's greatest dad part: while the song frames al as a father figure to charlie, he doesn't actually view her as a daughter figure and he literally only does that to fuck w lucifer bc he saw how tilted lucifer got when charlie showed fondness for alastor's help, and al LOVES to antagonize men (good for him tbh). not to say people cant fanon them as a found family type thing, but just clarifying that as of rn, he canonically doesnt view her as family c:
but yeah as an aroace person, it gets so tiring when people completely bypass any boundaries we try to establish. like they're trying to do it as a gotcha against us lmao
i love the argument allo's try where theyre like "oh ur ace? well, no one would wanna fuck u anyway !!" like okay ?? that's a great thing imo lmfao
altho, this is just my opinion, but i dont particularly care whether someone is gonna ship an ace/aro character despite canon depicting otherwise, as long as people realize at the end of the day that that character will still be x identity. im someone who ships alastor with a few characters, but its more of a lil fun AU in my eyes rather than 'god i wish this were canon'. bc despite my shipping side, i absolutely love aroace alastor and i love seeing myself in him c:
long rambling but i just rly like this topic and wanted to give my 2 cents lol
