Especially with Alastor I had a real struggle about how to approach an OC having a relationship with him. I reflected on this a lot, wanting to build a narrative where I was sure Alastor as an ace person would be comfortable around my character. Crystal was born from that. She was a veterinarian in her former live and similar to Alastor she loves jazz and dancing aswell as engaging in intellectual conversations or reading a book. My favourite scenario is literally Crystal sitting next to him on a couch her head leaning against his shoulder, while they both read their own book and just enjoy being around each other. I myself am Demi-sexual, so sexual attraction for me only occurs if I connect to that person on a deep level and trust them in every sense of the word. I‘ve noticed the trend you described too and I tried to avoid it, because I understand how pushing an unwanted narrative onto people is very much harmful and damaging from experience. People tried to fix me and find out what is wrong with me for various reasons and I believe, that no matter the context, acceptance not fixing is key.
