Robert. You are the man! God Bless you! We had a headlight lens break and the mechanic we trust could not fit us in for a few days. The mechanic gave us the lens he had around for $10 and with your help changed it. Great channel!
Hey Leroy, thanks for watching my video. I'm not sure about replacing the wiper motor on the S40. The next time I'm in the junk yard I'll check it out and post back. As for the fluid lines, you just have to follow them. You can have someone wash the windshield and see if they squirt, they are suppose to work with the windshield washers.
Your instructions were great. The clips were hard to put on. So I grabbed a towel and wrapped it around the assembly, on the edges. Then I used a C-clamp to push the assembly together. No damage;: it worked. Out-of-the box thinking. Go for it!

WOW! Thanks Robert. I recently purchased a 2000 Volvo V40 with 98K. Timing Belt was replaced, along with water pump, idler and tensioner and while they were at it the serpentine belt. Recently, the driver low beam blew and when I replaced the bulb I noticed the chrome backing was loose, just as you described. Now I know what and how to fix that without buying a whole new lens. Thanks for the help, my dude. Just came back from switching glasses on my Volvo V70 -00 with your video help. My family can drive with more effective light in the cold dark snowy north now.
As always Robert helps me out again! Lol. I noticed a crack in my drivers side lens on my C70 and I was going to buy a whole new headlight assembly. Hi Robert, my front driver's side light is not working. I've replaced the bulb and fuse. Still not working. May be a wiring issue. Can you replace any of the wiring components or do you need to replace the whole lamp? I'm not savvy enough to check the wiring w/ a multimeter nor do I have one. Thanks in advance for you help.
Hey Kyle I had a similar issue. Check the wiring for any issues because mine were totally messed up. After looking thoroughly I even noticed that the connections for the actual headlight bulb were even a little burnt. I guess this can be a common problem because the stock headlight wiring is kinda weak. What I did was bought some performance bulb sockets on Amazon or Ebay, the ones that have stronger wrap on the wires and the sockets can handle heat better. I traced the wiring as far back as I could and used a heat gun and added some more stronger shrink wrapping tubing whatever they call it, over the existing wiring and then I spliced in the new sockets using butt connectors and more shrink tubing for wiring. I haven't had anymore issues since. I was also having a problem where the fog light fuse kept burning out as soon as I turned the car on. Ended up being the ground to the fog light bulbs. I guess they weren't secure enough and got loose. Once all this was fixed, everything ended up working fine and hasn't given me anymore problems for a few months now. Hope that helps bro
Jav Munguia I disassembled the whole unit, attached electrical tape and switched out the wiring harness. They still work. They were still intermittently working but now have been pretty consistent. +Roberto Far You don't need to remove the whole assembly to change the bulbs. There are two plastic caps on the back. One is round; rotate it to the left and it'll pop right off. The other one is rectangular; release the clip at the bottom, and pull it off. From there, pull the connector off the back of the bulb, and release the two spring clips holding the bulb in.
+Robert DIY I have a Volvo S70 AWD 1999 and my lights are extremely dim. I want to be able to see the road well. What needs to be replaced? (whole headlight? or lens? or reflector?) I bought Philips Diamond Vision bulbs 5000k and they didn't seem to help (I like the whiter light though) All in all I can barely see the road at night if anyone has any ideas with the cheapest solution id appreciate it greatly.
It looks like the hood latch assemblies have to be removed in order to access the third outside bolts on each. I don’t see how you can remove and reinstall the bolts without doing this
Any one else trying to figure a way to mount DRL lights in the housings? I mean not many cars headlights come apart like the Volvos and now that summer is here im going to try to install some stick leds (roll type) or the round leds (circle type) but I think the roll type will work just fine...
What I discovered is that the outer reflector is attached to the plastic housing and, the inner reflector is attached to the aiming devices. Unfortunately, my aiming arms are broken So I glued the reflector's together.
Robert DIY Not if you go to the junkyards, the junkyard I goto headlights are only $50. But I got the lens to attach with the seal. You just have to snap the clips on properly.
+Robert DIY replacing the bulb for the turn signal on the left corner, I did everything u said and its still not working is it a specific bulb I need to use??
+Robert DIY it works me and my cousin figured out.. now do you have a video for temperature coolant device?? my engine gets hot way to fast and antifreeze spurts put causing it to smoke on the passenger side
Sorry, I didn't explain enough there, ..... My friend, (who knows NOTHING AT ALL about cars), ... tried to change his headlamp wiper motor following your video, he got completely confused when he saw your car ready stripped down, ..... you go in the engine compartment and reach straight down to the headlamp, he realised the battery had to come out but got frightened that if he disconnected it, the engine management box would lose it's memory, ... do you understand what he thinks?
DON'T EXPECT EVERYONE to know what your are talking about, some of them know nothing at all. ..... Then you come along with this video only showing "HALF", the removal job............ YOU, ... have the car stripped down ready, ...... how about explaining how to do that too, ..... it IS part of the job in hand you know? ... like the "Hidden", bolts/nuts/screws...... You get 0/10 because you DON'T START AT THE BEGINNING....... OK, ... make that 3/10 for effort.......
As a 94 Volvo owner, these videos are VERY useful. This info is difficult to come by online, so thank you good sir for making these. Keep it up!

Thanks for that helpfull video i have a 1998 s70 volvo 2 weeks ago you help me a lot how to change a motormount is like you are reading my mind what a gonna do next thank again and nice job your friend daniel
Thanks a lot . From the Netherlands
You are welcome
+Robert DIY I have a Volvo S70 AWD 1999 and my lights are extremely dim. I want to be able to see the road well. What needs to be replaced? (whole headlight? or lens? or reflector?) I bought Philips Diamond Vision bulbs 5000k and they didn't seem to help (I like the whiter light though) All in all I can barely see the road at night if anyone has any ideas with the cheapest solution id appreciate it greatly.
+Tyler Conlon I would replace the reflectors. Let me know if you need some. - th-cam.com/video/L80M1zAGT_8/w-d-xo.html
How much are the reflectors
+Tyler Conlon I think you can only get them at the junkyard. I believe I pay about $8 each.
Thank you - the information was very helpful.
+David Tyler Good deal. Thanks for watching.
Is it pretty much the same process for 960s and v90s?

So I dont need to remove the wiper motor to remove the headlight on v70 1999?
Did I remove it in the video?
I need one on how to take off the headlight wipers or delete them
Some people cut the rod off under the headlights. What kind of car do you have?
I usually just unplug the motors and put new wiper blades on them.
2004 Volvo S60 awd 2.5t
Trying to find the video to change the bulb!
Which bulb?
Took the housing out, the glass off, sprayed some metalic silver paint onto the reflector which had grown dull from age. The lights are bright again.
+John Mahoney They usually get dull from water/weather intrusion. - th-cam.com/video/L80M1zAGT_8/w-d-xo.html
It looks like the hood latch assemblies have to be removed in order to access the third outside bolts on each. I don’t see how you can remove and reinstall the bolts without doing this
ok
This is great! Thank you!
Thanks for watching.
Any one else trying to figure a way to mount DRL lights in the housings?
I mean not many cars headlights come apart like the Volvos and now that summer is here im going to try to install some stick leds (roll type) or the round leds (circle type) but I think the roll type will work just fine...
AwakeDude911 Most people like to install the Volvo jewels.
Can I just buy the reflector piece by itself?
Not that I'm aware of.

Thanks as always
You bet
What I discovered is that the outer reflector is attached to the plastic housing and, the inner reflector is attached to the aiming devices. Unfortunately, my aiming arms are broken So I glued the reflector's together.
Oh, cool. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you !!! From Russia )))
You are welcome.
is it same to 96 years modell ?
+Mackan Götgård Close.
The lens come off easily because there's no seal. Mines does, it's a pain to get it off, and pain to get it back on.
Well, if it needs to be fixed, you gotta do something.
Robert DIY You can remove the seal, but that's just asking for trouble. Beset thing to do would be to just get new headlights.
+Tao Liu at the tune of $230? I have had zero issues with swapping the lens.
Robert DIY Not if you go to the junkyards, the junkyard I goto headlights are only $50. But I got the lens to attach with the seal. You just have to snap the clips on properly.
Good deal.
very helpful
Good deal.

Welcome!
Thanks 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
Sorry, I didn't explain enough there, ..... My friend, (who knows NOTHING AT ALL about cars), ... tried to change his headlamp wiper motor following your video, he got completely confused when he saw your car ready stripped down, ..... you go in the engine compartment and reach straight down to the headlamp, he realised the battery had to come out but got frightened that if he disconnected it, the engine management box would lose it's memory, ... do you understand what he thinks?
No, it would not.
tanks for anser :)
Ok
thanks!
you are welcome.
Huh? Are you high? I will assume yes. This process works perfectly fine with the car 100% assembled.
