Welcome back to RBR guys, and this is the big one we’ve been waiting for! The new 6 Cylinder #MercedesAMG #CLE53! Our first glimmer of hope following the awfully boring new C63 4 cylinder, I’m dying to know what this is like as I know you are! And we have some CRAZY rumours to share on the #AMG CLE 63, and whether it will have a V8, so big video today!
So guys, this car has big shoes to fill. It succeeds a long line of ultra desirable C63 Coupes, a tonne of rivals of a similar internal basis, AND it has to deal with the cloud of hatred and abhorrence that follows the awful new C63 4 cylinder everywhere AMG goes. Basically carrying our collective hopes and dreams on its broad wide bodied shoulders. Tough ask for any car, even one as good looking as this one.
So let’s have a look at the CLE 53 both outside and in, then head back out for a full first drive, and really see is this is a top dog AMG only in looks, or can it walk the walk too? Here’s the CLE 53!

Price aside: this is the best entry level AMG they've ever made. I can't think of a modern AMG that looks better, the whole package just works. As for the V8, is it coming? DO you think my prediction is right?!! Let me know. 😈

Not sure if the V8 is coming back or not. I'm just grateful that AMG got its head out of its bum and actually gave the people what they wanted. Looks like a proper gem of a machine

Merc did it to themselves. They must've known the enthusiasts who buy the 63 model cars wouldn't go for that overweight, 4 cylinder hybrid nonsense. They put it out anyways banking on that 63 badge. Arrogance.
Merc thought too highly of themselves assuming their audience would take whatever they serve them. Glad people are vetoing the 4 cyl C63 by not buying them.
Money is the only thing manufacturers truly listen to.

absolutely incredible, probably in my opinion one of the best looking amgs that have been unveiled in the last couple years, hearing a 6 cylinder is so refreshing, we’ve suffered in too much 4 cylinder anguish.
Last sentence.. only the c class and glc were affected. GLE, GLS, G, S, SL, GT4, GT are still V8 though
@@v12-s65 a lot of our amg love revolves mainly around the v8 c63s, we love the rest but the c63s is what you think of when you hear ‘german muscle car’

@@shabz_carz I wouldn't really call it a muscle car as that reminds me of the incredibly inefficient and purposely slightly out of sync engines of the american muscle cars. It's a proper sports car.

I think mercedes finally understood that no one will buy the 4cyl. hybrid (especially in the cle63) and switched it to the V8 before the car was released 😂
They didnt confirm the switch yet. Only thing confirmed is that they stopped development of the cle63 with a 4 cylinder. It could mean that there wont be any cle63 at all now. Or it could mean that we get the i6 with a bigger electric motor. Lets wait.
I just wish they dropped this years c63 and revised it immediately

The flared rear arches make the car look so aggressive. Why don't Saloon AMGs also implement this? AMG Saloons from the front look so aggressive but the rears are no different from a non-amg.
Cost reason, look at JP Perfomance video regarding the new C63 SE Performance
All a cost thing.
But it‘s more complicated for 4 doors as the rear door is too close. So you either have to also make the door wider (super expensive) or find a solution to only make the ass wider while leaving the door stock (often doesn‘t work well or doesn‘t work at all).
@adrianhajrullahi6189 I watched JP's video too and as well as cost reasons it's also packaging reasons. The hardware fits within the standard arches so there's no need to widen them. Widening them simply for aesthetic purposes would compromise performance. Btw Mercedes did themselves no favers by going to JP, it was quite embarrassing actually.
@@matmul4850 that‘s not really a reason. RS4, RS6 and M3 also do not need wider rear to fit hardware. It‘s about looking good and for driving dynamics
@@matmul4850 How much performance would be compromised. RS and M all have widened rears and perform at the same level. In fact BMW M is leading the way with the current M3
Still not sold on the rear light cluster mono-brow design to be honest but the front is pretty nice.

Yea he did miss that but the widened fenders are not as pronounced from 4 series to M4 compared to normal c coupe/cle coupe to c63 coupe/cle53, imo mercedes did the widened fenders better but id still take an m4 over this any day, at least the 53

AMG have opportunity to smash the M4 with a v8 in this car. Its already way better looking inside and out.
unless they make it the same weight as the g82 and give it like for like driving dynamics,then it won't make a huge difference for them.g82 owners definitely won't be selling up and going into a heavier,4matic c63.

Bro the m3 and m4 xdrive do 0-60 in 2.9 sec and an 11 sec quarter mile. With simple tunes u can be in the 9s quarter mile. Bmw is killing audi and merc when it comes to performance.
True, would pick a V8 Cle63 any day over an M4, this looks much better.

Yesterday you said you have an update regarding the V8… it was a pure clickbait mate. We all know this is stilla speculation. But someone spotted a V8 CLE. So why Mercedes couldn’t say anything about this. Why Audi and BMW can always confirm what engine is in the car even still under Camo.
Gotta get them views in somehow.

On the "AMG real performance sound" feature I would have appreciated more comments on the difference it makes with the speaker sound, i.e. what's the sound like with and without speakers helping out. So far, I've not driven a performance car, where the speaker sound was an advantage. Otherwise, good video thx

What a gorgeous car and fast. I wonder how this compares to the RS5 since both coupes with same HP. I love the sound fo the exhaust. Not so loud it screams out your insecurities. Just the right burble to make me know there's power there and enough sound to let others know it's there.
On a side note, I'm still very sad that Mercedes eliminated the S-class Coupe. It was one of the most gorgeous luxury coupes to ever grace the roads.
Cle 63 with the V8 could be the best thing to come out of amg stable that could compete with the M4
volume sorted. yes!
It sounds really bad IMO - it's like somewhere between the 4 cylinder "AMG C63 SE" sound & the inline six from the G80. Doesn't sound nearly as aggressive as the G80 - sounds very muted & tamed.
Most importantly, it doesn't sound "AMG" - it sounds somewhere between Audi & BMW (maybe Subaru too?).
Big miss here from my perspecetive, don't see a reason why you wouldn't buy a w205 C63s
If this was going against the m440i price range - no question but this will likely cost what a G82 M4 Xdrive costs...
Its a really great looking car, and the I6 is great too.

I had the same thought, the CLE53 AMG is so well put together as an entry level daily driver but the way Mercedes has positioned it seems like a set up for the CLE63 V8 with the intergrated electric motor. There is no way, I dare say, they wouldn't have a V8 for this chasis, I mean it's so beautiful and the V8 so iconic that I just don't see it going away. Plus the whole world was sad that the C/CLE63 wouldn't be getting a V8. Fingers crossed 🤞

When mercedes started taking out the analog clocks, thats when the interiors started going to screens because they left out the most important focal point in the interior designs. Simply put, it went downhill from there
It's not a C, it's a E coupe, so price are more in line with it.

I remember a time when everyone laughed at Audi and their nardo grey colour option, saying it looks like primer. Now pretty much every car manufacturer has their own version of that colour lol
8:41 - how is the M4 a “level above” 🤔 Price-wise, they’re the same. But I’m not sure why the AMG is a second slower to 60, 200kg heavier, and sounds worse, but at least design-wise it’s better. But overall, you’d have to say that most people would by an M3/M4 - you get more power, sound, but less weight.

Wait until you take it to your first service and they will sneakily update your engine software without telling you and the exhaust note is muted.

Stunning looking car, would have it over a BMW M any day, just needs that extra exhaust note to match the aggressive looks, both specs looked great but think that the de chrome one would sell better given the nature of the car

I’m on my 3rd w205 C43 coupe. I bought one after watching your video way back then. I wanted a 4matic coupe Mercedes for years. Now after watching this I’m could be calling Mercedes this afternoon…… or do i wait to see if Mercedes put the V8 🤔

There's plenty of room. 443 bhp and 413 lb ft torque for 2000 kgs, is nothing special performance wise.

I test drove the W206 C63se before writing it off...which i have. I've not seen another W206 C63se since.
I can’t believe that people aren’t criticizing the fact that the $80,000 model of the E class has a 4-cylinder, the $90,000 model has a 6-cylinder and there’s no 8 available in the AMG.

Having not read all of the comments. So apologies if I’ve missed it.
Question when you show the car with 63 tailpipes and a charging flap why is it definitely the 4 cylinder and not following the trend of the GT and SL with a 63 just a v8 and the 63 s e-performance with the V8? Have they told you this specifically? Asking for a friend.
In 5 or so years when they’ve depreciated I might actually consider it
I was going to compare it with the v12 engine but that would be a disadvantage for the GLE 53
Great car, its such a shame Mercedes UK restrict the options to our cars and often don't allow the UK access to great personalised options (which are available on RHD cars in Ireland). It unfortunately makes BMW and Audi a better choice.
is the A45S transmission better than this one?
It would be interesting, if der would be a six cylinder with the electrified turbo from the c63. I think this would be a very nice car
My 2019 E53 Coupe with performance exhaust sounds better than this with loads of pops, bangs and crackles. I do love the exterior though its gorgeous other than the headlights.. The eyebrow lights were better 3 for S, 2 for E, One for C etc so you knew the difference straight away. Great review though as always.
