if you want / need a desktop, get a desktop if you want / need a laptop, get a laptop iPadOS is not "pretending" to be a desktop OS, it is proudly a tablet OS. tablets should not be looked at as desktop or laptop replacements. kinda like sports cars should not be looked at minivan replacements. different form factors for different use cases.
Thanks for commenting Mariachee. I completely agree with you, they are and for now will not be a desktop replacement. But the fact that ipads have so much power, a mouse support, a trackpad and a keyboard from apple itself, yet are still limited is unfortunate. Ipads are amazing products, Apple clearly wants people to get more out of their tablets, while not completely replacing a desktop, but everything does except the OS. For now old and new ipads are practically the same in terms of "general usage". I still would love to get more of ipad OS maybe with some high end products like final cut pro or similar ones. I can edit while on the sofa for example or when I'm out and about. It's not going to replace my desktop but helping me get more out of my tablet. Anyways, it's just my point of view, everybody's can be different. Thanks watching! :)
Probably, the problem now with ipads are their usability. Apple just keeps making them stronger and more powerful. But there's no need as nobody can use that power with it's limited OS anyways. if there's an M1 in there then we need apps and an OS that can use all that power. Hopefully they do some changes soon. But Samsung is implementing stuff like dex that let you open dozens of apps at a time and can adapt to any display.
