I've been a fan for over 20 years. Something is different about this album. Underground hip-hop is alive and well! Thank you Slug and Ant.
Had the same thought listening this morning. Has a "vibe" to it. The same feeling I had when I first listened to Fishing Blues. And that record became one of my top favorites

I personally find the beat to be pretty melancholic. Those whirring synth choir lines with those high pitched tings really strike a dark chord even with somewhat upbeat reggae groove as the skeleton. A really nuanced beat from Ant, dude was in the zone for this one for sure.

I saw Atmosphere in the summer of 2005 when he performed at Mr. Smalls Theater in Pittsburgh. It was incredible. Such a tiny, intimate venue, like 200 people in the audience, max. One of my all time favorite concert experiences.
