    I made the conversion from RNEG to NAC Wave 2, you need a cable adapter from the default wiring to the new NAC wiring, an antenna adapter and for extended functions an adapter to convert the CAN system to the new one. Android Auto/CarPlay is miles over every standard nav solution and also miles over any android tablet. All the functions work as expected and it looks stock. Volume controls work, parking sensors work. IMHO it's the best upgrade you can possibly ask for this car. The screen, adapters and unit cost was about 500 euros and the blanking plate for the stereo another 10 euro.

      That sounds utterly great (except for the price, I hope you don't mind my saying so). Was it a lot of work to install or is it similar to any other radio? Is it sold as a kit or do you have to buy everything separately? Thanks very much!!!

      @@comcarclub The kit was bought online ( second hand OEM parts probably from breakers + the adapters + a 3d printed support to adapt the screen to the C5 original mounting points). It may seem expensive, but quality-wise i consider it the best compromise. Also the RNEG2 in our country sells for over 300 euros, so ... i think the NAC is a better value for money. The install is the same as the conversion you did from RNEG to RNEG2 on your old car, and it needs coding using an 3rd party software which is rather simple and documented online - using an arduino board with a CAN adapter. There is also the option of mounting a SMEG+IV2 ( the only smeg with AA and CarPlay ) but the display is the stupid resistive type i think you are mentioning in this video. That would be an actual retrofit since it was an option for the late C5's (2015+ i think).

    How I do it:
    1) I connect my phone to the aux port for music and put it in my phone holder mounted next to my OEM screen. (that could be improved lol)
    2) Turn on Waze navigation app :)
    it's quit a basic solution but it does work for me. The advantages I found are that my phone doesn't turn off. I can change/see my music playing in the waze app.
    Bonus: it tells me where the dangers are at on the road ;)
    Hope you find a solution that fits you!

    I know the alternative. I bought rt6 with built in video chip. Instead of rear view camera I plugged Mirabox at the video input at the back of the rt6 HU. Mirabox is a device which connects with any smartphone via Screen casting option through wifi direct and gives out analog cvbs signal for rt6 video input. Shows everything what's on the phone screen. The phone is operated by Voice Access, by voice. The only flaw is that the screen is not gamma corrected which makes the image dark. I am planning to make gamma correction circuit.

    My C5 came with RNEG (myway) which is absolute trash because of no BT audio streaming. I have a Chinese unit on order as well which should be delivered in about 10 days - for about 300 Euro you get a 9inch screen, the plastic frame to fit it in the original cutout for the screen (no modifications to your dashboard needed) Android 11, 8core CPU, 8G RAM, 128gb storage, front DVR recorder, rear parking camera, BT (with audio streaming), 3x USB ports, it has a 4G sim slot AND wireless so you can use your hotspot if you like. I haven't seen one of these installed in person but at least 10 people in the C5 owners club in my country have installed one of these and everyone is loving it. As far as I know everything works. It has wireless Apple carplay and wired only Android Auto (both are working properly as per other peoples feedback). I've also considered to switch to RNEG2 at some point but in comparison with what you get with the Android headunit and the fact that the RNEG2 will probably cost the same if not more it's just not worth it for me.

    I think you are giving it way too much thought. I only use the USB port, loaded my music in the stick, and have in play nicely in the background, enjoying the drive. I can drive for hours like that. That is a real old school driver's car.
    Don't even know what that streaming service you mentioned does....👍👍👍👍😂😂😂

    Do you have any experience with the unit rebooting every 30-60minutes ?

    • @comcarclub
      @comcarclub  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That depends on the unit. If it's the RNEG /MyWay, yes that happened to me. I did a factory reset but it began resetting again. I suggest you get rid of it. If it's the rneg2, it's most likely the internal microSD card, and that has to be replaced. There's a how-to guide on the French Car Forum, I haven't done it and I hope I never have to

      @@comcarclub I tried removing the sd card entirely so that the map just didnt load at all. But the error kept occuring at the same intervals. I checked the firmware version to be "rneg_D_R50b_R50.03". I assume thats the unit you suggest I get rid of?

    • @comcarclub
      @comcarclub  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@davidhalvorsen4878 If you removed the SD card from the front, then yes, that's the RNEG. I don't know how it's fixable, and it's just such a limited head unit (no streaming, no usb input), I'd recommend something else.

      Hi @davidhalvorsen4878 , I have the same problem in my Peugeot 407 SW 2010. I have the RNEG MyWay system with the external SD card. It reboots around every 30 minutes. If I drive the car for less than that, it won't happen. If I drive it over 2 hours for example, it will restart 4 times.
