    Had a 2013 FZ1, plenty fast. Handled well enough for track days and comfy enough to put in 800 mile days in the saddle.

      I actually have pictures of my wrecked bike. I tried to buy it back from the insurance auction just for kicks... . If I can end up selling for $2,500. Definitely not worth it considering it flew off a highway going about 120 mph.

    I own an FZ1 (2014). I absolutely love it. Everything he said is true. They are absolutely incredible all around street motorcycles. Torque-y and streetable around town. Comfortable and smooth on the highway. Absolutely carves corners with a more relaxed ergo making proper body positioning a cathartic experience. Absolutely 11/10 HIGHLY recommend. Take care of these bikes and they'll last forever. I picked up my 2014 in April 2020 witb 6200 miles. Ive put over 12,000 miles on it this year and have done nothing for maintenance except clean the chain and change the oil and swap out a set of tires. *knock on wood* these bikes are seriously absolute gems. And it aint just me. Whenever I let somebody ride it they always have great things to say.

    • @generalyellor8188
      @generalyellor8188 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, it's not. No FZ1, even with race pipe, K&N filter, and Power Commander module tuned on a Dyno gets anywhere near 146Hp at the rear wheel. Maybe ten less than that at most.

    • @squaaaaak3178
      @squaaaaak3178 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@generalyellor8188 you're right. However it doesn't matter for a lot of people, especially if you reduce the weight. Forget power Commanders. you don't need them if you get Ivan's ECU reflash and a couple other adjustments.

    30 year rider here and I’ve ridden most of them. The best bang for the buck is the Suzuki Gsxs1000(naked or “F” fairing model.). The Gsxs 750 is also a nice option if you have less riding experience or small pockets. Ride safe my friends.

    • @graylunsford
      @graylunsford 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There’s a great video by Schaaf in which he flogs a GSX-S750 and praises it HIGHLY. I don’t know whether it’s the intake or what, but the 750 sounds better than the 1000.

      1. Low - sub 500cc, or sub 50HP
      2. Mid - 500 to 750cc or 50 to 75 HP
      3. Upper 750 - 1000cc or 75+ to 110 HP
      4. High 1000+ cc or 110+ HP
      Does that work?

    Took delivery of my 890 Duke R 2 days ago and I am astonished at how much improved it is compared to the 790 Duke I traded in. It feels physically smaller, is much quieter mechanically and doesn't over-heat in traffic. As much as the 790 connected me to my inner hooligan, the 890 has cemented the bond.

    Thumbs down for no mention of the riot SV1000. Everything you love about the SV650 in an absolute monster of a bike. Made between 2003-2007. Used you can find them for ONLY $2500-$4000. It behaves more like a 600 super sport on the highway, not like typical big 4 1000s. It's nothing "special" to look at because an SV is an SV is an SV.. but the big ass VTwin pulls like a freight train, even with slightly lower torque numbers than some of the other bikes listed it's one of the most fun bikes I've ever ridden. 120 hp, 75 ft-lb torque, 150ish top speed, 0-60mph in just over 3 seconds (if you can keep full traction & the front wheel down)... The full naked eats through the twisties. (In the US the nakeds were only in production in 2003) No rider aides, no fancy tech, just pure motorcycle. Fuel injection BEFORE the 650, hydraulic clutch, oil cooler, stabilizer. 🔥🔥🔥

    I got a 919 last year and fall in love again every single time I swing a leg over it. You may get other bikes as well, but you'll never get rid of the 919. You can't say naked bike without this being in the conversation.

    • @generalyellor8188
      @generalyellor8188 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not if you've owned more than a couple of bikes. The 919 is extremely boring. Reliable, but boring and with budget-conscious suspension and brake components.

    I got rid of a ZX1400R to get Moto Guzzi Griso 12SE. I FRIGGING LOVE IT!. Don't get me wrong the zx14000r is insane, fun and the throttle is like warp speed engagement. The griso is more than fast enough, handles great, look great, and is comfy. Also what a paint job called "black devil" what's not to like. As for the other bikes my dad has a first gen FZ1 and a MT10. He also had the same FZ1 you showed. They are great bikes too. Hell you pretty much made a list of the bikes my dad and I love.

    My first bike was an FZ-10. Now that I'm a more experienced rider I kinda think that was a horrible mistake and that I got lucky.. and sometimes I say to myself the number of scares that I got kinda forces me to be a very responsible rider. I definitely would stick to a good and steady progression of bikes. You might find that the "intermediate" segment is more than what you need to have fun.

      Depends on the year it was built. Mine is a 2007 model, has (or at least when it was new) 100-something hp, ABS (works too, I tried) and upside down forks. Extremely comfy seat too.
      The rev counter was broken when I bought it second hand so the shop gave me a Z750 to ride while they fixed my Hornet under warranty. The Z750 was like sitting on concrete compared to the Honda.

      I own a 2020 model and despite what detractors would tell you it's a great bike. It corners really well, the induction roar is intoxicating and the engine begs to be thrashed. I've heard very little with things going wrong on them so they're fairly bullet proof as well.

    I had an R9t that was stolen and to replace it, I wanted to see what would best replace it. When I came across the Griso, I said YES! Until I realized the ONLY one available for sale was 650 miles away. So I got an Indian FTR instead. But I'm so stoked to see the Griso even mentioned! Such a unique and interesting bike.

    I would go with the Z900rs, but as a owner of a 82 KZ 1000 LTD its would only make sense and go for the killer ZH2
