    Happy Fz1 owner here, taken in on trade in October with...890 miles (!) on the clock. Basically ridden twice a year for ten years (09). Change of tires, filters, and fluids and it sits with 1500 miles and going up. It’s a flying blueberry and I love it lol.

    • @generalyellor8188

      I've owned 32 motorcycles in my near-40 years of riding, but have never clocked more than 15K miles on any of them and never owned one for longer than about a year. But my FZ1? Just about 50K miles in ten years of ownership. It has been so heavily modified since then that it's almost unrecognizable, but it is easily the best all-around bike I've ever owned as well. That said, it gets nowhere near 146Hp (at the rear wheel), and mine has all the standard performance mods: Graves full-system race exhaust, PCIII, K&N filter, and tuned on the Dyno with a peak of 134Hp.

    30 year rider here and I’ve ridden most of them. The best bang for the buck is the Suzuki Gsxs1000(naked or “F” fairing model.). The Gsxs 750 is also a nice option if you have less riding experience or small pockets. Ride safe my friends.

    I own an FZ1 (2014). I absolutely love it. Everything he said is true. They are absolutely incredible all around street motorcycles. Torque-y and streetable around town. Comfortable and smooth on the highway. Absolutely carves corners with a more relaxed ergo making proper body positioning a cathartic experience. Absolutely 11/10 HIGHLY recommend. Take care of these bikes and they'll last forever. I picked up my 2014 in April 2020 witb 6200 miles. Ive put over 12,000 miles on it this year and have done nothing for maintenance except clean the chain and change the oil and swap out a set of tires. *knock on wood* these bikes are seriously absolute gems. And it aint just me. Whenever I let somebody ride it they always have great things to say.

    Yam FZ1 is a gem, but there are others you missed. Kawasaki Z1000 is another good looking gem with loads of power and torque for the road. Triumph 1050 Tiger Sport [ok it has a half fairing] is an absolute gem. Great Torquey engine and comfortable. Honda CB1000R [2018 on] is a stylish comfortable sporty naked with great attention to detail and fit and finish. Suzuki GSX1000S, probably the best bang for your buck in terms of power and performance. And last [but by no means least] Ducati 848 Streetfighter. What a lovely gem this machine is. 132 hp [more than all the current super middleweights] and plenty of torque all wrapped up in a superbike chassis with top notch suspension and beautiful looks, and it's pretty damn reliable too.

    I had an R9t that was stolen and to replace it, I wanted to see what would best replace it. When I came across the Griso, I said YES! Until I realized the ONLY one available for sale was 650 miles away. So I got an Indian FTR instead. But I'm so stoked to see the Griso even mentioned! Such a unique and interesting bike.

    Selling my 2012 fz1 tomorrow...was a comfortable bike and fun. However, working at a ducati dealership, we get cool stuff as trade 8n so I picked up a monster 1200 and am loving it more than the fz1 for a daily rider.

    My first bike was an FZ-10. Now that I'm a more experienced rider I kinda think that was a horrible mistake and that I got lucky.. and sometimes I say to myself the number of scares that I got kinda forces me to be a very responsible rider. I definitely would stick to a good and steady progression of bikes. You might find that the "intermediate" segment is more than what you need to have fun.

    I’m gonna promote Buell again. The XBs, while antiquated technology wise, would have fit here. You rode one. You know what it’s about. Let’s just hope the newly revived Buell Motorcycle Company has something similar planned. I regret selling mine.

    How is the sv650 one of the greatest naked 650 class but there is NEVER a mention of its big brother the SV1000!?! I’ve got a custom 2003 “N” model and she’s an absolute monster would love to see some yam content on the old beasts

  • @Dangerwiggles
    @Dangerwiggles 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thumbs down for no mention of the riot SV1000. Everything you love about the SV650 in an absolute monster of a bike. Made between 2003-2007. Used you can find them for ONLY $2500-$4000. It behaves more like a 600 super sport on the highway, not like typical big 4 1000s. It's nothing "special" to look at because an SV is an SV is an SV.. but the big ass VTwin pulls like a freight train, even with slightly lower torque numbers than some of the other bikes listed it's one of the most fun bikes I've ever ridden. 120 hp, 75 ft-lb torque, 150ish top speed, 0-60mph in just over 3 seconds (if you can keep full traction & the front wheel down)... The full naked eats through the twisties. (In the US the nakeds were only in production in 2003) No rider aides, no fancy tech, just pure motorcycle. Fuel injection BEFORE the 650, hydraulic clutch, oil cooler, stabilizer. 🔥🔥🔥

    I wish, when you guys do one of these lists, you would list the subject bikes down below the video. I don’t think it would meaningfully reduce the number of people who actually watch. Your vids are too high quality to miss. It sure would help those of us who don’t like to take notes while we watch!

    I've got 160,000 kilometres on my 919/Hornet 900, about 100,000 of which were done under my watch, and the bike is still going strong. Glad to see the bike make the list.

    Hornet 600cc version could also be on that list, it has about 95hp and weights about 200kg with fluids, lack of ABS is just a weight reduction :D we die like a man

    • @Twiggy163
      @Twiggy163 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on the year it was built. Mine is a 2007 model, has (or at least when it was new) 100-something hp, ABS (works too, I tried) and upside down forks. Extremely comfy seat too.
      The rev counter was broken when I bought it second hand so the shop gave me a Z750 to ride while they fixed my Hornet under warranty. The Z750 was like sitting on concrete compared to the Honda.

    I got a 919 last year and fall in love again every single time I swing a leg over it. You may get other bikes as well, but you'll never get rid of the 919. You can't say naked bike without this being in the conversation.

    • @generalyellor8188
      @generalyellor8188 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not if you've owned more than a couple of bikes. The 919 is extremely boring. Reliable, but boring and with budget-conscious suspension and brake components.
