Still use mine for music production, it rocks. Unlike the Apple silicon models it can run Windows, rock multiple screens and it has faster USB and SSD transfer speeds too. You can also use external graphics. It's definitely one of the best Macbooks ever made
I've updated both my 2015 Macbook Pros to Sonoma via OCLP. I dual boot with Windows with one and Ubuntu on the other. Both work VERY well. The M series machines are fantastic but... my 2015 units have Magsafe and a SD card slot and I don't need to use dongles and both boot from USB flash drives. Screen quality on the 2015 units is comparable to the M series. Personally, I like that I can easily upgrade my SSD or replace it when it fails as I can also replace the battery. A decent 2015 can be found under $250.
mine is ok... editing jpeg with lightroom on monterey os (2015 mbp 15") is slower than my macbook air 8gb 13" 2014 on high sierra, i donno why, i suspect its newer os is more taxing on the machine.
I have an MP 15 mid 2015 Intel I 7-2.2/Intel Iris Pro 1536. 16GB /I installed Sonoma, I also set up the cooler and it was buzzing, but I always set the energy saving mode in the battery! And everything just started working so cool that I was surprised/ Monterey was hot / I'm very pleased and everything works just perfect /
Question, would this MacBook be good for someone starting out in graphic design? I don’t currently own a reliable laptop but I’m starting in graphic design so I would like a used MacBook Pro that would get me started. I’m assuming I won’t need something too fancy or new as I’m just starting (eventually I would upgrade) but still has all the necessity’s for a beginner. If not this one then is their another MacBook Pro year model that’s recommended? Any advice would be helpful!
Hi, 2015MBP is still a capable machine, this is my primary machine that I use for all my editing work and graphics. I would recommend this because of value for money and performance. Get one with a dedicated AMD graphics card, the performance is just amazing
It should be okay for coding, make sure you get the one with the 2.7 ghz clock speed and make sure that laptop also comes with the 2gb radeon r9 m370x on it.
I still have mine from 2015 from when I was 13 but it’s so slow nowadays. I think mine is a memory issue as I did use it a lot when I was a teen. I think I started to have problems with it by 2020 or 2021 but I still use it sometimes. I will have to get a new one eventually though
@@silastea They always do because of how slow it runs which makes it warm. You can barely use the mouse since the mouse and mousepad takes forever to register movement from the finger.
@@joshuepico75 Bro, you can find an Apple silicon MacBook Air for $500-600 bucks range & will have way better performance, way better battery life, better ports & overall and better machine.

Even though it's one of the best MacBook, age is starting to catch up with it. Sounds like a rocket engine
@moseswaweru Have you changed the the thermal paste inside the machine? That helps I think. Especially with old machines like yours.
Does the fans make a lot of noise when using music daws and a lot of plugins? What daw do you use with yours ?
How do you mbp 2015 owners think this laptop will hold up in the year 2025?

I have too but its running very slow

I have OCLP Sonoma on my 2015 MBP and its runs smoother than Monterey.
How? I did the same and as soon as I log in the fans would go at full speed and the temps to 99 degrees so I went back to Monterey
