Research shows that torture is actually ineffective at getting accurate information - making friends and finding common ground with the prisoner is the most effective way. Torture IS quite effective at getting people to say whatever they think will get you to not hurt them lol.
I think the threat of torture is probably the most effective way of getting accurate information. Once you reach the actual torture stage, the individual you are trying to extract the information from will probably either not budge or or lie.
that's true, but the way i've seen torture implemented is moreso used to break down a person's humanity and morale instead of getting information.

Remember kids: if you are going to commit serious crimes (i.e. kidnapping, torture, etc.) Make sure do it legally when it comes to minor things (i.e. wear masks).
Al capone was arrested for tax fraud, and considering how he was a mob boss with probably a hundred plus murders, definitely take care of the minor things.
Its easy to get enough deniability for major things (burden of proof on prosecutor, innocent until prove guilty) to not be caught. So make sure you don't get caught for something stupid like shoplifting, or noise violation cause thats how they get you.
Or just don't be a criminal, its much easier.
Keep the little rules, break the big ones.
Make sure the guns you rob people with are compliant with the laws in your state 👍

I feel like this scenario has a prisoners dilemma hidden somewhere.
Hes just gonna tell him where the money is but criminal doesn't want him to just tell where it is, he want to torture him to get the money, so the criminal says if you JUST tell me where the money is then I'll torture you so he does not tell him where the money is because he wants no ouche. In that case the criminal doesn't get to torture him and has no money, so then we are at the first place we started where the criminal says if you don't tell me where the money is ill torture you. So he's just gonna tell him where the money is without ouchees or they are stuck in an infinite loop XD

Interestingly, there's a decent amount of reports that say the anticipation of torture is worse or more effective than the torture itself, so a little spiel to increase the victims mental stress isn't very unrealistic

I mean, the reason spicy food is hot is that the activation temperature of your heat sensoring nerves is lowered, so your brain thinks you mouth is on fire. Its entirely reasonable that a similar compound exists or could be made to do the same thing with your general pain receptors. Lets not think about how this would feel, but it could have different "spicyness" levels.

If things went this easy, the kidnapper would be pissed, and the people in the movies know that, so they first have to resist a bit, say shit like "I'll never tell you where the money is". After a while, they reveal the location, the torture stops and it's a win-win situation for both. Come to think about it, this belongs to your main channel because it is educational, Zach!

Police interrogators do try to bribe suspects, but that's with reduced sentences.
And that's an underhanded tactic, which isn't really "being nice" either.
