I am glad I found your channel. Great and informative information. I lived in Panama for three years (1984-1987) when in the Air Force. I lived in the Albrook area. It was very hot and humid but I got used to it. I loved Panama and did not want to leave. I went to school off duty and earned my BS degree. I understand the people, the culture, and the traffic. I drove aggressively as Panamanians do and did just fine. The military shipped my car down there when I was stationed there. I am a recently retired Federal worker and military retiree and have been planning on relocating and retiring to Panama. I have done lots of research and will come down on a Pensionado Visa. I have narrowed down where I will live: Boquete. I had booked a 7-day tour in May and a flight down there but the Coronavirus placed a halt on that. Right now, I am just waiting for the country to open up and I can resume with my plans. But I feel I should visit first to initiate the Pensionado Visa process started, set up a bank account, scope out some rentals, other legal stuff, etc before making the move. I want to make sure all of my “i’s are dotted and my “t’s” are crossed before moving down there. I will place all of my household goods in storage and my car on blocks and in storage here. Upon arriving in Panama, I will rent a nice furnished place and buy a car there. I want to make the move as easy and light as possible. I love the beach, fishing, hiking, sightseeing, eating good food, music, and chillin’ and doing nothing if I want to. :) I like the 25% off airfares so Panama would also be a nice hub to fly out of and go to other countries. How long did it take you to get your papers together being that you have the lineage? Were you fluent in Spanish before moving? If not, do you feel like your Spanish has improved?
