I'm absolutely amazed that Trevor has not yet corrected Brian on what a fortified wine is (i.e. it's not a condensed wine, it's normal wine that has additional alcohol added to it, usually un-aged grape spirit, at some point in the fermentation process).

Also I suggest you do get some things like blue curacao, and grenadine. I suggest these because they are good for layering, colour, sweetening. Also you should use the tonic water to make glow in the dark drinks, just get a black-light.
Simple syrup is not just dissolved sugar. The heat from the cooking process breaks the molecules down, changing the sucrose into fructose and glucose and creating a sweeter tasting syrup than just sugar dissolved in plain water.

But if you want to have a few essential to be able to mix several cocktails, I'd definitely recommend to get some sort of curacao/triple sec, because there are just so many cocktails that require it: Mai Tai, Sidecar, Cosmopolitan, Margarita, Long Island, Long Island..its just really versatile

Best Martini -- 3 to 1 Boodle's and N-P Original Dry vermouth w/ 2 dashes of Regan's #6 orange bitters. Stir 'til the outside of the mixer freezes. Great choice on the Rum! You need a 6th bottle. St. Remy French Brandy. XO is $20 (in NC) and better overall than any of the Big 4 VS Cognacs at $32. I've replaced Bourbon with Brandy in my liquor cabinent... and keep Irish or Scotch for my Whisk(e)y. (Switched to Rye years ago.) Brandy is very versatile. I think too many people have suffered Christian Brothers (or expensive Cognac) for it to get its due. (Unless you're in Cali., where there are good local small brandy houses.)
The only major problem with the original intro was that it wasn't designed to be iterative, so it became cumbersome in the production workflow; the shift was a pragmatic one in nature. I imagine it will evolve more in time.
Well, I am not completely sure how easier this one is to work with, seeing it still has a customised element to it. But hey, I don't claim to be an expert; if this one offers an actual practical advantage, it was a good call from you guys.
My home bar is currently Bullet bourbon, Tanqueray, Appelton, home spiced Brugal rum, Bacardi, Laphroaig 10 year, E&J VSOP, di Amore amaretto, Goldschläger, Martini sweet and dry vermouth, Vieux Carré absinthe, Créme Yvette, Luxardo, Stoli elite, Angostura aromatic and orange bitters, Peychaud's bitters, homemade grenadine, homemade sweet lime, homemade sweet orange and homemade sour. For wines, I've got 6 different reds, 5 different whites, 4 different sake (usually more) and 2 ports. I am not really a beer drinker but I keep Blue Moon and Guinness on hand. If I know an IPA lover is coming I'll go buy some Tröegs (usually Perpetual). Light beer? They can bring their own or drink piss. For Ciders I always have Magners and/or Angry Orchard crisp. I also have a Jack's Hard Pear at the moment. I am a country club bartender that got spoiled from having a LOT of specialty liquors and liqueurs to work with. Now, I can't help but keep a rather unique stock for myself, as well. I am sorry to anyone who is overwhelmed when I offer to make you a drink.

brianliveshere You're welcome. Feel free to ask any questions you might have. Here are some of my own tips: Buy product in the price range that you will drink regularly. Having expensive show-off items will do nothing but leave your bar unused for prolonged periods of time. If you know a special event is coming up, then go buy one or two luxury brands that you are in the mood. Family gatherings and holidays are when I buy top shelf scotch and gin, as well as my yearly bottle of mid-range tequila (since I usually can't stand the stuff). Also, invest in some decent glassware. Pint, Rocks, cocktail coup and generic wine, at the least. If you don't want to half-fill a pint for Collins drinks, then get some highballs, Collins or zombie glasses as well.
Try Redemption instead of Bulleit, their high rye is great. Tanqeray is classic but boring and overpriced, talk to your local wine shop employees about replacements (there are many). Bacardi is trash replace it with Barbancourt from Hati, it's better in every way and usually the same price or cheaper. Most people can't tell the difference between vermouth's but try the entire Dolin line and also if you want to get fancy Cocchi di Torino sweet vermouth. Blue Moon and Guinness are technically beer but if you're not a beer guy its best to chat with your local beer seller about what to keep on hand. I like that your making so much at home, props to you.
Next time take some rind from the orange and squeeze some of the oil on top of the Manhattan. Otherwise, great job guys, keep the awesome videos coming!
I find it weird American's don't drink Gin and Tonic as much as us British. It's a staple here, has been for years and is getting even more popular. Tanqueray and (decent) tonic is the actual bomb.

Jesse Hughes The 5 bottles are “hard liqour”, with a high alcohol content, and therefore presumably heavily taxed, making them expensive compared to the other stuff.
It's because the five spirits: vodka, gin, whisky, rum and tequila are what make up "the well" in just about any bar. Nearly every cocktail is based on one of these. The other bottles on the table are things like vermouth and bitters which are used to flavor those five.
3 0z barrel proof rye to 2 oz luxardo cherry vermouth, 2 dashes of aromatic one dash of orange. Serve with homemade brandied cherries and on teaspoon of grenadine and you are welcome!

I find it weird American's don't drink Gin and Tonic as much as us British. It's a staple here, has been for years and is getting even more popular. Tanqueray and (decent) tonic is the actual bomb.

It's not a Brooklyn yet until you add 1/4 oz Maraschino liqueur. Technically it should also be made with Amer Picon but Angostura works just fine.

The 5 bottles are “hard liqour”, with a high alcohol content, and therefore presumably heavily taxed, making them expensive compared to the other stuff.
It's because the five spirits: vodka, gin, whisky, rum and tequila are what make up "the well" in just about any bar. Nearly every cocktail is based on one of these. The other bottles on the table are things like vermouth and bitters which are used to flavor those five.
3 0z barrel proof rye to 2 oz luxardo cherry vermouth, 2 dashes of aromatic one dash of orange. Serve with homemade brandied cherries and on teaspoon of grenadine and you are welcome!
