This is such a great piece. I love that we never actually see him and his ex-girlfriend in the cafe. And the way that he says he is a good swimmer, yet is clearly not, indicates his disconnection from truth. I really wanted them to kiss in the shower but I like how it ended. Bravo.
His "ex-girlfriend" was supportive, but the thing is, she really knew him, maybe even more than he knew himself - at least in his sexuality. She even said she saw signs back then. What we see is that he is the case of a person who had repressed their sexuality and attraction (orientation) for a long time. He was always a homosexual but the film was about him finally accepting it and himself.
Kudos for him being strong enough to leave his card. May not lead anywhere, but he’s open to it enough to allow the swimmer to make the next move. That’s a good man. A good friend. A good lover.
Great job and well done. I really enjoyed the film, it was nice seeing someone face a personal aspect of themselves and being able to move forward positively about it.
It's so great how the film makes swimming helps the character reach a better understanding of himself. It makes him feel relaxed, but it also discovers a new and different side to him. Just that connection is beautiful.
I have to say, Kiki Kendrick did an absolutely outstanding job in her voice-over. She was really engaging and believable. She was crucial in keeping the interest going in this short film. And I do believe these two guys are going to form a relationship.
Intelligent, innovative, Stunning! I loved the combination of two scenes split by sound and image with only occasional sounds of the pool leaking onto the soundtrack scene; like the memory of a smell. I love how his audible story and his visual memory secede 'slightly' ;)
Him being so bad at swimming made it so much better. I will say I wish there was more scenes and diversity of shots. Kind of lost me a bit because it was always stuck on one shot . Could have been shorter. But this was so well made that is just me reaching to give advice.
That was really good. I liked how the audio was in the background, and I liked how he told a dirty little lie at the end. The whole thing was creative, and I credible.
Final smile is encouraging... For first time he might be close to start breaking his pattern, that awfully truth "whether it's a man or a woman he used to be away of reaching someone ". Delight dialogue
Really enjoyed this...creative, witty, insightful. a relief from all the angst-ridden Hallmark cards that make so many gay shorts trip over themselves. More please!
I love these shorts. There's another great one. Something we all feel or most of us to do some of us do whatever they are straight never know what's going to happen until it does
The dialog shows that he is lying. We do not know if he gay or bi. His actions speak louder than words. Maybe the sequel will show the first date for a swim at deNile river.
Dive under water and you’ll find hidden parts of your personality of which you never thought they existed. So it’s up to you if you let them emerge and accept them or not. Wonderful short film with a universal message.
Really good short film! Great camera work innovative narration. A well told story of the "fluidity of sexuality" which to me is all of us in some way! Again, very good film!
It seems she's rather supportive to the possibility of him being gay, I didn't find all her questions condescending! He didn't seem ready to accept himself, homophobia directed at himself, which isn't unusual at first.
Oct 2019 - just fell in my recommd' ... wow - ppl stick with it... it really is good ! I almost gave up early on..... (yawn)... then ... and it hit home around 9:40 - all been there? NEEDS a part 2... so the guy picks up his card and.....
Concept: brilliant. Direction: brilliant; Script: convincing and convincingly performed by the actors in the voice-over; Cinematography: almost too perfect to be true. We have film series that go on with endless sequels. We have novels that run 700 pages. We have the power of words and images concentrated in 12 minutes here to present a sea-change in the life of a human being. Remarkable accomplishment.
I liked it. It wasn't entirely plausible but it was clever and I really liked the way the conversation was played over the events themselves and the way those events were filmed.
Duh to those who don't get this. He kinda lied when he said he wasn't gay. He's wasn't- but this guy brought new feelings to him that he had never felt. Leaving the card, his card, with the guy was him saying he wanted to explore these new feelings he was having. He's bi at least.
I anyone else shouting at the screen “he’s lying” he so wanted to go further in the shower with that guy, if it wasn’t for the person walking in, he would of!
The subject of someone exploring, thinking or confronting their sexual feelings/desires differs for each person. After all, we all are unique. There is the possibility of someone falling in love with a person regardless of being male or female. For every word/term used to identify sexuality (straight, gay, lesbian, bi,transgender...) there will be some that don't fit the definition.
At 2:28 oh yeah take your shirt off...sexy man...definitely bisexual. I subscribe to sexual fluidity I hate labels...all society tends to put labels on everything..we are who we are ..not a choice...
Everyone seems to want to assign a label to him, themselves, you, me, everyone....why can't we just be "Me"; I am like no other, no one is like another, we are all unique.
I don't believe in the bisexual label myself. I've been with men and woman all my life but I've known since the beginnings guys are my thing. To me having the sex with girls was just pressure from friends or just to much drinking. Btw not to take away how you feel about your situation just telling you about mine. No one but you can make the decision on who and what you are.
His ex girlfriend is really condescending when it comes to his sexuality, why put him in a label or make him feel pressured to label himself, just let him fall for who he wants to without stigmatising it.
+Arjun Krishan Goswami "The ex-girlfriend" and him talking in the pub is a metaphor for his own internal dialogue that he is having about a confusing experience. That's why you don't see her.
had headphones on loud and was watching with intensity as they were about to kiss... then got a huge fucking fright when the door swung open, and shit my pants!
NO one is either straight or gay - we are all percentages of both. It is not black and white except for an extreme minority. So, yes we are all bi-sexual except for a few poor boobs. It is only a matter of what percentage of each we are.
AHHHH THIS WAS SOOO GOODDDD!! I wanna be out soooo bad.....but I guess I like the secretness of love shown in this film appeals to me ..its cool to see it played out like this. About how it happens I believe
I can see how this film won an award. Its definitely got something going for it. While I thought it was going anywhere, it starts getting there towards the end. I like the narrative in the background and how it helps the audience engage more with the male character and after all is said and done he decides to go for it and quit running away. The main moral is really about that - not running away when a good thing could possibly be waiting for you. He could have been straight either way as well..
How exciting, how wonderful that he had at least one person with whom he could share this very unusual experience. I liked it when she kept pressuring him to 'pick one.' Gay or straight: which is it? I like it because people really do that, and I think it's so silly! And it got me thinking again about people who find they are neither straight nor gay, nor even bisexual. I enjoy the fact that I can meet and work with a "lesbian-identified, transgendered bisexual" person. How cool is that! I am excited that people find out, realize, or just know they are asexual -- and there are groups, communities, they can be a part of. Self-discovery and self-creation migt be scary someti es and even painful; but it can be so wonderful to experience, whether first-hand or through observation.
Gay, Straight, Bi - who cares? Why do we need labels? I think that's half the struggle for people living their lives openly whatever that is for them. After turning 40, I (who am and have always been gay) met so many "straight" men going through this phase, or crisis, or whatever, who need to experiment, or confirm or something. When it first happened I was quite surprised. Not any more. Sexual attraction doesn't feel the need to discriminate. I wish the rest of us didn't either.
This is such a great piece. I love that we never actually see him and his ex-girlfriend in the cafe. And the way that he says he is a good swimmer, yet is clearly not, indicates his disconnection from truth. I really wanted them to kiss in the shower but I like how it ended. Bravo.
I agree Matty

Great job! Very creative, wonderful dialogue and cinematography
Great job and well done. I really enjoyed the film, it was nice seeing someone face a personal aspect of themselves and being able to move forward positively about it.
I love the camera work, all those still shots, and the voices off camera, really original. And, as for gay underwater and straight above? Wonderful!
It's so great how the film makes swimming helps the character reach a better understanding of himself. It makes him feel relaxed, but it also discovers a new and different side to him. Just that connection is beautiful.
Great little film, subtle, clever, touching, insightful. I loved the restrained use of special effects. Brilliant!
I can see how this film is award-winning. Great work!
Very cleverly done. It was touching. Less is more🥰
Excellent film! What a creative way to tell/narrate a story. Bravo!
I have to say, Kiki Kendrick did an absolutely outstanding job in her voice-over. She was really engaging and believable. She was crucial in keeping the interest going in this short film. And I do believe these two guys are going to form a relationship.

That was cute. I loved how he smiled at the end.
We're all a little gay though when everyone around you is wearing revealing swim wear... lol
+Raffy Udinov ikr xD
Are you James Charles?
Alex Shuysky 🤦🏽♀️
Hello friends Peter and happy Halloween this love little guys
It's terrifying how many people ignore it as an option because they don't believe it's real.
Well, the main character certainly can't make his flip turns worth a damn!
Beautiful. And ambiguous. A great combination.
I love these shorts. There's another great one. Something we all feel or most of us to do some of us do whatever they are straight never know what's going to happen until it does
Wonderful images under water... Nice and hipnotic stage... I remember so good & I miss it. Very good short film.
The dialog shows that he is lying. We do not know if he gay or bi. His actions speak louder than words. Maybe the sequel will show the first date for a swim at deNile river.
This is a very nice and sensible gay film, loveeee it.
Good stuff Dave. Thanks for your work & for sharing with us.
hey Stephen, I am so glad you enjoyed it. Feel free to share the film with others.
This is soooo funny..sooooo British ....loved every minute !!!!!!
Dive under water and you’ll find hidden parts of your personality of which you never thought they existed. So it’s up to you if you let them emerge and accept them or not. Wonderful short film with a universal message.
You get it! Bravo!
you really don’t get it, do you? figuring out what the film means (to you) is part of the fun of it!
Really good short film! Great camera work innovative narration. A well told story of the "fluidity of sexuality" which to me is all of us in some way! Again, very good film!
you got it. That sign with the swimming pool rules is very famous for being at many swimming pools in the 80s.
I loved this film. That actress is incredible!
That was a great short film. Love comes when you least expect it in all forms...
Great short film! Struggling with one's feelings about the same sex is nothing new. He's bisexual and that's perfectly OK
Very enjoyable.....love these kinds of shorts!
I really like this!! Very well done!!!
Nice short. Well filmed. Very well acted. Only point - the dialogue sounds like a play reading. However, it deserves the awards. Highly recommended.
It seems she's rather supportive to the possibility of him being gay, I didn't find all her questions condescending! He didn't seem ready to accept himself, homophobia directed at himself, which isn't unusual at first.

It's like a magical swimming pool that reverses your sexuality. Best thing ever.
Really liked this short!
A really good one! It´s actually different but feels absolutely real, not too much sentimental. Ten out of ten!
What a beautiful story ... Loved it
Beautiful, artistic, & touching. It made me smile which I need today.
Thanks for collecting & sharing.
Muy bueno. Una interesante introspección!
Excuse me mam, you know bisexual is a thing, right?
I was thinking the exact thing!
Personal liberation from your own fear guarantees winning price. Truth will set you free. Your trophy.
I liked it. It wasn't entirely plausible but it was clever and I really liked the way the conversation was played over the events themselves and the way those events were filmed.
Great film and great acting.
Good show! How the hell did that cameraman stay under the water that long for all those awesome shots??
the "flip turn" at 4:51 makes me sad.
im i the only one who cried like a little girl after watching this?!! holy shit- i could feel every inch of this (lol no pun intended)
At 9:48 was anybody else like " :O He's lying!!! Lady he is lying! I saw him!"? Maybe im just that immature lol. This was good though :p
Sarah Mika
jeez he's really shit at flip turns isn't he? And that swimming around bit... hilarious! but that ending, awwww.
The most amazing film I've ever seen.....straight or gay, G to R rated and beyond, short or long. wowow.
Wow!!! What a concept!!! Lovely!
Duh to those who don't get this.
He kinda lied when he said he wasn't gay. He's wasn't- but this guy brought new feelings to him that he had never felt.

ugh the cinnamon topography

I really liked it...it's quite different from all the gay short films in youtube but i'ts very very good

Sexuality is a sliding scale. It all depends on the connection you have with someone.

It's lovely and impressive!!!
Strange short -- Great underwater shots!
All I could focus on was how TERRIBLE a swimmer he was
Hehe we chose to depict it like that for the comedy. Glad it worked for you!
Same! It was hilarious
Lol he was doing the spongebob version of the worm 😂
Yeah same with me and I'm an actual competitive swimmer
every time he'd reach the end of the pool and flipped he'd miss the wall to push off
That was really beautiful my friend.
Very good metaphor....under water....above water
SFRJ82 Funny thing is that I don't get it.
ever heard of bisexual
Oh yes! And they are all gay! :-D
I actually don't think it's that simple.
Yes we have. This is a MINI MOVIE, it doesn't matter dude
The MagusJF no❤️

Okay???
This won awards? How?
Well I thought it was quite original and tantalising
2020 anyone? 🤣😭
Nice film. I enjoyed it.
Really sorry, but if this is award winning, the judges must have been short of the full shilling.
Excellent! Fine depiction of beginning to become aware.
Loved it! Oh snap, it must be something the water.........:)
i'm just curious, did you see the altered messages in the signs?
Yes! I noticed that. Was funny and clever. 🙂
Great movie 🙌🏿.
Interesting cinematography ... &, yes, like the [perhaps not] ending...
BISEXUAL GODDAMITT IM SO PISSED DOES ANYONE KNOW THE CONCEPT? PLEASE! HE IS BISEXUAL THAT'S ALL -.-
tomtriffid I don't mind the interest of anyone I wanted to make clear something obvious that many assholes don't see... that's all

yea hes bi and thats that
+Mentally Hurting I’m bi. I like men and boys.
Bisexuality exists. Deal with it.
His ex girlfriend is really condescending when it comes to his sexuality, why put him in a label or make him feel pressured to label himself, just let him fall for who he wants to without stigmatising it.
Arjun Krishan Goswami i feel like shes more ignorant, and comes off as condescending without meaning to
+Arjun Krishan Goswami "The ex-girlfriend" and him talking in the pub is a metaphor for his own internal dialogue that he is having about a confusing experience. That's why you don't see her.
label is not a bad thing
and it was clear that he wanted the guy and still said to her a history a little bit different... he knew but he didnt wanted to tell to her yet
had headphones on loud and was watching with intensity as they were about to kiss... then got a huge fucking fright when the door swung open, and shit my pants!

I absolutely agree. I am a married guy, and yes, I do find members of my sex attractive.
I know im like 6 years late, but yea, sexuality is a spectrum and no one is 100% gay or straight
And how exactly do you know this? How can you prove that no one is a 100% gay or 100% straight?
did you see the hidden message in the signs?
glad you picked up on the bad tumble turns
What did he leave? His driver's license? It looked a bit like a credit card (pre-chip).
His membership card
I need to know what happens next!
Yes what happened?
They need to re-edit it, the music at the end was too loud, I had to turn on the closed captioning to understand what they were saying.
very good!! I liked it.
AHHHH THIS WAS SOOO GOODDDD!! I wanna be out soooo bad.....but I guess I like the secretness of love shown in this film appeals to me ..its cool to see it played out like this. About how it happens I believe
