- 'Wolves' is the story of Josh, a sixteen year-old boy from a small town in the English countryside. Living alone with his father with whom he has a complex and often confrontational relationship, Josh finds refuge and solace in the nearby woods where he spends his time drawing and catching bugs; and it is in this forest that a mysterious encounter will pave the road to self-discovery.
WOLVES is a short film written and directed by Fuoco Maria Balduzzi, starring Roly Botha, Jay Walker and Ryan Davies.

I want this as a full length movie. It was so compelling. I wanna know more about each boys story.
What a wonderful and insightful movie ! Indeed, that was well played and the photography is superbe.
My interpretation is : the wood boy was running away from an abuser (maybe sexual abuse) and has escaped from him as soon as he could, so that's why he was almost nude, alone in the forest. The relation between Josh and his father has been complicated since his mom left ; the father is trying to make contact with his son to see how he handles it but Josh is cloistered in his malaise, anger and sadness. When he found the wood boy, they both found each other and gave each other tenderness, warmth and comfort, protected by their timeless bubble of innocence...
I don't make predictions on the following events 'cause if the director didn't want to show more of the story, there's probably a good reason.

William, I suspect your interpretation is spot on - excellent analysis, sir.
We worry at the end what will happen with the wild one. He hadn't managed to clothe himself warmly without Josh's help. So, he wasn't making it on his own and is probably better off back in civilization. All together, his wildness, lack of language, and lack of survival skills seem contradictory. Still, an interesting film.
I think it alluded to him having been kidnapped by that guy that came after him and he escaped and has been hiding out in the woods i'm assuming it happened at a young enough age where he knew how to get dressed and take care of his basic needs. He also could have just been mute or maybe the guy damaged his vocal chords or something so he couldn't scream or talk much. Probably was sexually verbally and physicallu abused. That's why he related to the kid who was also verbally and maybe even psychically abused and saw the signs in him. Idk but I think this a great short film and could be a full length movie. I'd see it.
Don't think he is wild he is traumatized he had a sicko abusing him and ran away and it's very telling that he just had his underwear on. He probably made his escape while he was asleep. Persons suffering from heavy trauma sometimes disassociate and I am think that's what happened to the boy. That's why he seemed to be watching the world anew. I feel very sorry for him and I know this is just a film but it's sadly the reality of a lot of young children.

Really good film. Especially poignant is the difference between the silent loving touches of the two boys, versus the angry loud yelling of the father and son. In the end, the father and son console in silence. Both have lost love. Nicely done!!! Part II please!

Part 2 should show the deepening sexual relationship between father and son.
I hope they make a full movie out of this. Amazing story/concept and acting. As a survivor of physical/mental/sexual abuse from childhood to adult this brought back so many emotions. I am Native American/Spanish. It was very hard and still there are moments but I have survived. Thankfully my family came around and we are in a more understanding loving place

It's all there: script writing; directing, cinematography, acting... Bravo to cast and crew for a job well done!
Both boys exhibited such tender, raw emotion. I felt so deep for each of them and both of them. My heart broke for them at the end. It seems wrong that Josh couldn't go with him as a comfort to help in the next steps.
My hope would be that the father would move toward keeping them close to each other, maybe even foster Blaine.
This moved me there is so much this short movie is saying I watched it 3 times and each time I had different emotions......The two boys were superb in their roles...Balduzzi is a master to put together a short movie that tells a wonderful story
Stunning! Charming! Mesmerizing! Hauntingly Beautiful! The actors were amazing, quite brilliant. Great Location, awesome cinematography. Applause to everyone involved! It's all about instincs, trust, and love. Interesting, Wolves and Humans are not so different.
For me, it stirred many emotions.

Pure poetry between the boys
That was a brilliant story, beautifully acted and set, totally enthralling from beginning to end, so many different poignant reflections running through it. Loved the humane pauses when they were with one another just contemplating one another's scenarios.

What a beautiful film. To feel so comfortable with someone with whom you could communicate such gentleness is so heartwarming, peaceful, healing. Such a different story than what I'm used to out of traditional coming of age films. Thanks for sharing.

The film is sensitive, insightful, tender, and the theme is well displayed. The prevailing fantasy that there will be reconciliation is belief in the tooth fairy. An abusive adult is from an abusive past and that will not change in the manner depicted. It is a desire by benighted adults that their terrible mistreament of their children will be forgiven and everyone lives happily ever after. Abuse, intended or through mental illness leaves irreducible scars, no amount of forgiveness obliterates those scars. This fantasy is created by these terrible parents is for their own salvation and dealing with their own guilt. The father depicted cannot change his personality. The rage you witnessed is in this man's character and will not change: as a psych/psy no amount of mental treatment and/or medication, personality disorders rarely if ever improve. We have prisons and mental hospitals and a plethora of mental; health professopnal poorly trained, poorly equipped , with no facilities equipped to treat these victims of abuse. It is a terrible, terrible, theme and conclusion that this clip portrays. The boy must be separated from the deranged father if he is ever given the chance to mature with reasonable strength.

I don't undersrtand the end, (the scene fight at night and the father in car) what Happening since the meet ?
Great question, I will do my best; the man who appears in the woods “you think I wouldn’t find you”? The man said who possibly was a human trafficker the boy ran away from. The boy comes home with Josh and social services takes the boy to safety. In those situations it is likely the two boys will not meet again. That is where you see dad & Josh share a moment in the back of the car both feeling loss of a person they cared about.
