Hi Vanessa! Great lesson and good tips! You are such a fantastic teacher! Some English words are really difficult to pronounce. So when I speak English I try to speak slowly so that the other people understand what I mean. I sometimes tend to speak too loudly especially when I am carried away! In my opinion, speaking loudly is better than mumbling. Mumbling is annoying. If someone mumbles all the time you don't understand what he/she is saying and you have to ask him/her to repeat it all the time. It is a really awkward situation! I feel uneasy when I sometimes try to explain something and I don't remember the right words. It is an awkward situation! Anyway, I try to speak English whenever I have a chance even though I make mistakes but at least I usually get my message across!

Thanks for sharing useful tips for English learners, Vanessa! I think the most mistake I've ever made is mumbling. The solution you gave to us is what I've tried to overcome it, and it works. Building confidence to speak English in front of native speaker is not easy especially for people from Asia. Thanks for your class and I would share it to my colleagues.

Hi, Vanessa! I appreciate so much your video lessons, especially this one. I think your tips and teachings are very useful for both, natives and non-native English speaking people. In my case, I sometimes use filler words, though I agree with you that it is more convenient to use some silence before continue speaking. This allows us to think much better what we are going to say and arrange our ideas.

Hi Vanessa! Thank you so much for your new video. I've been listening to you everyday to perfect my pronunciation since November. I've been practicing American English by myself everyday for seventeen years and almost for the sake of it. It' s my second passion after my long life one for railroad. I really like your videos that are so lively and cheerful and stick to the everyday life in the US way far from most French people can know through TV shows and series. Like you I don't watch TV since I don't have a TV set. Have you and Dan a good weekend.

A very nice class, teacher Vanessa! I always use filler words when I am speaking in English or even in my home language: Portuguese. I don't know why, but I feel like I can't remember fastly some words when I am talking and, then, I put a filler word to avoid be in silence. But I recently watched a speach class and the teacher said that it is a good solution to make pauses when you are talking while you try to remember a specific word. I'll try to do that from now on. Thank you for the class, teacher Vanessa. Best wishes.

This video showed me good points. There was a paper where I had a group discussion once in every class I was afraid of. I wanted to speak up my idea to my friends but I kept quiet because I thought their idea was better than mine. I wanted to share my thoughts with them but I find myself mumbling or speaking quietly for fear that I might have made a grammar mistake or they couldn't understand.
