Beastie Boys were also instrumental in getting Public Enemy signed, and when inducting them into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, Chuck D said that touring with them taught Public Enemy stagecraft and how to be a band. They’re probably the most influential rap group of all time.

NWA/Dr Dre sampled a lot of Beasties from Licensed to Ill on the NWA debut album, and that album taught Dre how to be a better producer, eventually leading to the whole G-Funk west coast sound.

The Beastie Boys released 8 albums from 1986 through 2011. They went platinum, double platinum, triple platinum, and even diamond. They opened on tours for Run-DMC and Madonna. They had Public Enemy open for them on tour. They are one of the few rap groups to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I recommend the official music videos for "3 MCs and 1 DJ", "Sure Shot", "Pass the Mic", "Sabotage", "Root Down", and especially "Shake Your Rump".

I love seeing these reaction videos with the subject being the Beastie Boys. I still remember first hearing “Fight For Your Right” at the age of twelve and saving my allowance to by the cassette when it came out. That was also my first cassette period. It sparked my love for them and waiting for each album which was an agonizing wait for the new album release. In each album you can hear them grow up not only musically, but spiritually and their reactions to social and political issues. Most of their videos were paying homage to a film or television genre and you could tell how much they loved what they did. My one and only regret was not being able to see them live when I had the chance. True Hip Hop royalty that inspired and motivated many artists. That’s why you hear so many artists, and celebrities speak so highly and have mad respect for them. Before they met Rick Ruben, Kate Schellenbach was their drummer when they were a punk band and when she left, ended up drummer for Luscious Jackson and were signed to the Beasties label Grand Royal.

Trailblazers of sampling. Widely recognized as highly influential. Punk rock / hip-hop / funk fusion. Having so much fun in their craft. Progressively taking ownership of any mistakes they made early on in their approach to their image as artists. Showing respect and love to everyone. Smart, funny, & clever lyrics and word-play. Never selling out, even to this day. If you truly knew nothing about them, be prepared to have them fall deep into your heart as one of the greatest musical groups ever.

3 MC's and 1 DJ is a fun one! I like "Gratitude" which honors Pink Floyd Pompeii video. Beastie Boys probably sampled more Led Zeppelin beats than anyone and they have so many albums of pure fire - diversity also. Check out them with Nas!

Great reaction! You get it.. The Beastie Boys are all about fun.. Dope beats and rhymes, funny and creative videos. They weren't trying to be the hardest, or big with the ladies, etc.. They just tried to make Grade A hip-hop.

Here are some more Beastie Boys to check out:
    3 MC’s and 1 DJ
    Sure Shot
Root Down (pays homage to old school hip hop, lots of graffiti and breakdancing in the video)
    Too Many Rappers (feat. Nas)

The Beastie Boys did some punk shows under a different name after Aglio E Olio was released.
They wanted to go back to their punk roots and didn't want large crowds.
So they played with Amery Smith from Suicidal Tendencies under the name Quasar.
So they drove around in a van and played small shows and house parties around the Pacific Rim.
They also did a tour a Japan where they first wore the outfits seen in this video.
So yeah, those outfits are from their punk band called Quasar.

You gotta add this one to your list.. The Beasties were already great, adding Mix Master Mike just added another level, this is just pure hip hop - Beastie Boys - Three MC's and One DJ (Official Music Video) - th-cam.com/video/XflfiylNNXY/w-d-xo.html

If anyone is wondering... the Classical piece at the beginning is called Night On Bald Mountain composed by Modest Mussorgsky and was most famously used in the Disney psychedelic classic Fantasia... not to be confused with the Godzilla theme used in Pharaohe Monch's Simon Says....

These guys were good to see live. Once I saw them in Phoenix in '98. MCA, the leader who passed away from cancer in May of 2012, noticed an A-hole causing big problems in a mosh pit and stopped the show cold. He refused to continue until the bad guy was taken out be police and security. Total, 100% class act to the end.

“They even got the robot over there doing The Robot!” 🤣🤣🤣 Oh man, you made me laugh so hard I was crying. This is such a beautiful thing watching someone hear something as great as the Beasties for the first time. I haven’t watched all your videos or read all the comments yet, but I highly recommend you check out “Beastie Boys Story”. It’s their documentary. You can only see it on Apple+ but it is so worth it. Keep on keeping on. Cheers!

Yes. Yes they were. Made their beats, played the instruments, wrote their own lyrics, AND made their own album art! Made hip hop commercially viable and did it their way! The videos were insane too!❤️🔥🌶

Christmas break from HS, dec 1986 I was on the varsity basketball team and we had practice. Coach let us play music during warm ups and someone puts in LICENSE TO ILL, the Beastie Boys debut album. Holy cow... awesome. They were so different than anything Id ever heard. For me, they are the greatest rap group ever.

Not sure if anyone has suggested this yet but on your own take a look at some of their live performances, whether on a late night show or in concert, they play a lot of their own instruments too, they are truly legendary! I'm such a fan of them I feel like there is no single bad song in their discography. There is a lot there, and a lot of different styles and I love the all!!

Love these Beastie Boys reactions, I'd suggest "Shake Your Rump" or "Paul Revere" if you want more of their rap sound, or "Egg Raid on Mojo" if you want to hear when they were a punk rock band
