    No disrespect to Brian, he probably came closer than anyone else could have done to try to fill Bon Scott's shoes. But Bon was hands down the best vocalist the band could ever have had, and the best front man in the business! Whole Lotta Rosie and Walk All Over You are epic tracks.

    Props to drummer Phil Rudd...the most underrated drummer in rock! He's a human metronome. Though this may sound like a simple beat but it's one of the hardest to play live. When then play it live it last over 10 minutes with that drum beat the whole way through...no ear plugs, no click track...just impeccable timing with swing.

      Yes, agreed. Brian’s vocal tone quality suits the AC/DC sound pretty well, but you can see the effort he is having to make which may be why the pace of their late material is slower, to allow him to get the sound out there. His voice works best behind a barrage of bass & lead guitar. Bon’s vocals are more effortless, it seems to flow more naturally, he has the wider vocal range and is note-perfect at any pace. His vocals can stand alone and often alternate with Angus’s riffs & solos. Also important is stage presence, Bon Scott had it in spades, he looked the part & had all the moves and the intensity. If I hadn’t grown up in his era I might be less spoiled, but the flat cap pulled down low over the eyes and the drunken staggering never quite measured up for me.

    Angus Young's biggest influence was Chuck Berry,Any time Angus skips across the stage,that's his tribute to Chuck Berry's "duck walk" Angus also credits his sister for encouraging him to don the schoolboy blazer, coat, cap, and tie when he hit the stage:

    • @SpaceCattttt
      @SpaceCattttt 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's always amazed me that Chuck Berry is Angus' idol. I mean, sure, there's a LOT of Berry-style licks in Angus' playing, but they're delivered
      so completely unlike anything Chuck ever played. Far more heavy and brutal. Like, where did the heaviness come from?

    • @kathleenmayhorne3183
      @kathleenmayhorne3183 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The name AC/DC came from their sister's sewing machine, it used batteries or plug in power. She also made his school uniforms for ths stage after his real one was no good anymore. He only started gigging in it after school, at age 16. His big bro, said he was gonna be good, when the band was looking for another guitarist, so he started young.

    • @Ohorrorohorror
      @Ohorrorohorror 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      it doesn't amaze me at all. it's all there to hear and see, only harder, faster, heavier, metallic-grinding, it's chuck berry if berry played in a hard/heavy 70's band, the swing and sheer pentatonic joy are there, taken to the cube. it would make people stare in disbelief in the 50's, just like in back to the future, but it's the logical conclusion of teenage rebellion and fun in a transfigurated berry style. the last part of the last solo? that's orgasm, the fun for the sake of fun for the sake of fun taken to the extremities of what mind, hand and guitar are able to to do when driven to the limit. make no mistake, THIS IS CHUCK BERRY IN TRANCE AND ENTROPY. god bless you. or not.

    THIS was the moment when rock reached its ultimate form. Before this song, AC/DC underwent numerous changes, with Angus describing it as a journey to capture the true essence of what it FEELS like when a song really rocks (one of the reasons he is so physical in his play, is that he lets his emotions guide him). When they wrote and played this track, they knew they had found it. The lyrics that were then written to the music say it all: 'Let There Be Rock.'
    Some people criticize AC/DC for sounding the same after five decades, but they’ve perfected a sound that resonates with one of the most primal human emotions. Why deviate from the quintessence of rock?

    Also, on their first television appearance (I think it was Countdown, in Australia) Bon Scott sported a blue gingham dress!! This was before they settled on their 'usual' outfits!

    The one legged hop, is actually Chuck Berry's "Duck walk", Angus is doing his homage to a hero. AND ACDC had 3 singers. Brian Johnson 1980-present, Bon Scott from 1974- 1980, and DAVE EVANS in 1973.

    I read somewhere that when Angus was playing that last solo that the old amp. caught on fire but they told him to keep playing.

    Live at the Apollo 1978 is an amazing version. The 1979 album of the concert is "If You Want Blood" and was the 1st album I bought as an 8 year old kid.

    This is my music, I was 14 and a kid growing up in Sydney's west when this was new. I was lucky to see ACDC in my life several times. Us guys were listening to this and other rock bands such as Midnight Oil, The Angels, The Radiators, (check out those bands as well guys) at the time I think the most of the girls were listening to either Abba or The Bay City Rollers at about this time.

    Graduated in 76 amidst pure music madness. Had the psychedelic 60's with the heavy rockers. Had some American answers to the British invasion Like Aerosmith and Ted Nugent among others. Progressive music like Emerson Lake and Palmer was becoming more popular and then out of nowhere my circle learns of AC-DC. These guys were tearing it up down under and we were so lucky they were discovered. I'm a huge Bon Scott fan, because of the attitude he brought to the songs. Brian is what the band needed to reach the next level though.

    When they were recording let there be rock for the album they used the 3rd take of the song
    As they were finishing the last guitar solo to finish the song the amplifiers started smoking they were playing so hard

    This group is definitely one of the best of all time. I was first introduced to them, by new friends at a new school, who vastly broadened my 13 or 14 year old mind, music wise. I remember being told that Angus, at at least one concert, performed a solo for several minutes, while being carried on someone else's shoulders. (possibly one of the stage bouncers)
    Even if that is not true, you cannot say you can't seem him doing it. I hope you do tons more of the early stuff. I love the later stuff, but I think they had a bigger blues influence early on, and I think it's even more primal than some of the later stuff. Problem Child, The Jack, Big Balls, Dirty Deeds, Ride On. You may have done 1 or more of those already but any you have not done, I think youw ill totally love.
    Great channel.

    One of AC/DC's inspirations was Billy Thorpe and The Aztecs. The loudest band in Australia. 'Mama' performed live in 1971, on the TV show GTK is amazing.
