Big waves are so much heavier (literally), when the water is really cold. I experienced it personally, when I moved from SoCal to Santa Cruz in the early 70's. A 3/2 wetsuit and booties did nothing to prevent the ice-cream cone headaches after wiping out or rolling a wave, either. Maverick's hadn't even been discovered yet by Jeff Clark, but those who have since experienced it will tell you the same. Respect!
Cold water is denser and weighs more so in theory a cold water wave is going to be heavier than a same size wave in warm water. Falling in to cold water from heights is like landing on concrete. Breaking the water is alot harder literally. Love the vids

@@adambane1719 not always. Would you consider a volcano, at least the land it is creating up the sides of it a mountain? That would be new. You can see how rounded the tops are in this video giving the impression its hard and quite old-heavily weathered. Look at the backdrop of Hawaiis North Shore, facing the mountains-we know, mountains come through at Pipe also. But those mountains are creased and jagged almost, newer compared to Irelands coast.

Came for the surfing, stayed for the nature drone footage with lotr music. :D Well, and I stayed for the slabs as well ofc. :P Some feedback from me: 1) best surf channel! 2) I like the slo-mo in this video, and it fits with the theme of the slow music, but maybe a little too much slow motion in this one. 3) I know from previous videos that you are also a good teacher. Maybe you could spend a minute or even 30 seconds at the end to voice-over one of the waves from the session and share some insight, point out to us not-world-class-surfers why you did what you did in terms of positioning/fading/pumping/duck diving/bailing/..., or even just show an incoming set and talk us through how you pick your wave. Idk, you have lots of interesting knowledge to share, and I know you are able to deliver a good point without fluff in a short time. :) 4) best surf channel, thanks for sharing!
Phenomenal edit at the end and love the music i cant believe Tommy made it out of that one. just saw a cool thing on this cat who surfs in Hawaii made me think of your cats- studying the ftx scandal..so much green in that ending of yours its beautiful. the rainbow is an attitude. the ocean is everything
