I like the split screen. The POV angle doesn't do true justice to the actual massive size of the waves, so it's kinda cool to have both in some cases🤙

Watching the dynamics of surfing Pipe, from paddling out to sitting in the lineup, was almost like being there but without the pounding! Credit where credit is due! Best vid of the winter so far!! Thanks man!

I noticed that too, he's a paddling machine. Also was interesting to see how he had to bail off the board a few times instead of duck diving. His duck diving looked great too, good paddling helps there also.
OMG, I'm not going to be able to duck dive that!! Or as I like to say, This is going to hurt. The split view is great. The swell made it to Kona too.
For sure it made it! Can't wait for the next swell. Got some really fun ones this swell though, it just puts my hopes up for the next one!

When you watch the gopro image it's like "i would surf that, looks super fun", then the split screen comes in and i'm like "nope." Those waves were huge! Loved it Nathan, thanks for bringing us with you to pipe

The dual camera angles made watching so much more enjoyable! Can really see how big it really is from the beach angle!

At 17:10 when you said “I don’t know how I ducked dived that” I know how you did. In one of your vids on duck diving you explained how when the wave breaks in front of you around 5 feet there’s a pocket of of air between where the white water shoots in the air
This is soooo great Nate! Show's the real deal of a fast building 6'-12' Pipe NWer. Especially loved minute 17:30-35 when you showed your true waterman skills in paddling deeper to avoid the guy catching the wave! Guess the surf godz shined some light on your butt letting you through for your unselfishness.....and common sense of safety - North Shore style!

That is the raddest pov footage I have ever seen. The wide angle definitely does not do justice to the size and shape of the wave especially when facing the wave. When you are sitting at the top and watching someone elses bottom turn it kind of does. The straight footage really gives us the perspective. The best thing about this footage for me is that I would never paddle out at pipeline. This gave me a real look at what its like to be someone who has worked all of their life to gain enough respect to be able to paddle straight through the line up and catch that many waves back to back.

I think you've already got your response but I'll add my $0.02, the telephoto in the corner view is AWESOME, at around 19:30 there's you watching a guy taking a wave with the sunset in the background and the telephoto showing the same guy from a different angle and its just great. Seeing what other people are catching while you're duck-diving your way back out is great. And of course finally seeing your angle of catching a wave and at the same time the telephoto angle of you is great. All in all who ever came up with this idea is a genius.

Not only the physically disabled. Some of us are never going to surf a wave like this, just considering all the factors, like fitness, boards, skills, location (actual wave and travel to get there, if not a local/live near-ish), and obviously, the massive balls it takes to make a drop like that! I know I will never surf Pipe, but this is as close as I'll ever get to it. And it is amazing. I was breathing hard with every set to the head.

That was really cool seeing how the line up works first person. I always thought that there was a certain spot that everyone wanted to get to and everyone had to wait their turn. But it seems like you just go where you think is right and hope for the best. If you're the only one out who knows the wave then you get them all? And the split screen was awesome.
I'm pretty sure that if anyone other than Nathan Florence (or another comparable surfer) tried to position the way he positioned in this video they would be found face down in a gutter.
There IS a place you want to get to and it’s where he goes.
Many lineups have a spot at the peak where you’d wanna take off and people will line up and go but obviously whoever is closest to the peak, gets to go.
But at Pipeline, you have guys like Jamie O’Brien or Nathan Florence who have surfed there so long that they can go to the head of the lineup and go.
Not anybody just paddles out like this and goes. They’d get their ass beat. Probably one of the spots I won’t ever surf because that wave takes so much skill and the crowd is absolutely insane.

How often do you catch a wave here (how many minutes between)? How do other people stay out of your way when you get on a wave? How do you decide which person gets to take which wave with all those people there? How far out are you actually paddling and how deep is the water there?

Thxs for the footage, I felt like I was experiencing the line up with you and for each set, I would ask my self, would I’ve made that duck dive without losing my board? And to have the box screen showing the complete wave was genius. This video captures true feeling of paddling out in a lineup.

The way you just paddle to the front of the line-up every time (at pipe) is crazy to watch. I understand that's your crib, literally, but it's still like watching somebody play Contra with a cheat code for the first time. Walking into the White House with a chaka to the secret service would be about as impressive.
