Thank you so much for this, I've been painting for over 22 years and have seen this several times myself, when we're painting interiors we use the buttle back drops , probably spelled this wrong, if we're working over especially carpets we sometimes will run plastic over the carpets and tack it down along the perimeter and then put our drops down, you're exactly correct on the drops that have plastic on the backside to, they rip and tear easily and therefore are ineffective and start flaking. Thank you very much, the Idaho painter and his crews are the best.

I've always used flannel backed vinyl tablecloths. They are light weight, they aren't slippery, they clean up very well, and they fold and store nicely. They are really cheap especially if you buy seasonal ones after the season! They have been perfect for small projects.

I have used them also and I don't like them because they track paint on your feet like the Dickens.

I live in New Zealand and we can buy latex covered dropcloths. These are extremely effective and won't let any paint through. Cost is virtually the same. We'll worth using these.

    Great pointers on drop sheets
    For professionals. 👷
In a pinch, I've used my collection of old blankets, curtains, sheets and even pillow cases for runners and dust covers over furniture.
I also start with a shop floor cover for a base area of operation where I pour paint.
Avoid tracking with shoes onto uncovered area.
I like to begin with a roll out walking in the door.... continued through any areas where work will be done.
Always keep an eye for bleeding through with any drop covers. Final clean "check" after removal ....🎩👍

Another thought for your next video...
I like to use oil primer on stipple that rubs off, or clogs the roller, due to being wet with water based latex paint?
      Use latex after....or oil.

I’ve been tempted to spray plastic dip on one side of a drop cloth , to see how it handle paint bleeding through. And how long the plastic dip will last. Any thoughts on this idea?

Butyl drop cloths are the way to go, yeah they are heavier but they also take up less space, so you can haul more. I have 6 butyl drop cloths taking up less space than 4 16oz canvas drop cloths. Butyl drop cloths are also less slippery so I prefer them in high traffic areas, to reduce tripping hazards. Butyl downside is that they are less durable, unless you get the canvas top ones.

The weight designation is the number of "ounces per square yard" (3' x 3') of material. I agree that 10 oz is the lightest for roller spatters etc., but even 12 ounce un-coated canvas may not stop a large blob from soaking through.
