How To Make A Canvas Using Drop Cloth + DIY Gesso | Painting Artwork For My Apartment

- In today's video, I show how to make a canvas using drop cloth. I also make homemade gesso which turned out really nice. Even though I used a store bough gesso for the second coat, I would still recommend the homemade one for personal projects.
For the artwork I created a mock up in photoshop and used that as a guide for my painting. I'm happy with the way it turned out and think the addition of color to my living room really works! I'm trying to experiment this year and go outside my comfort zone of neutrals. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy it!

I found using the eggshell latex Interior by Beher is better than gesso on raw canvas. You get it at Home Depot. The purple label can. Not the brown one you have in the video. It has a primer already in it. I use 2 coats with sanding in between.
Why noone knows this is beyond me.
They use the cheap chalky stuff and think all latex is the same and it's not. It's a game changer.
Some will use Kilz but I prefer the eggshell finish.
Thanks for sharing!
Masterpiece! 😊👍
Very cool. Thanks!😀
Wow! You did a great job🤩
Aw, thanks Debra!!
This is so cool!
Thank you!
I have some white curtains that I got from someone for $14 and they didnt really work out in my space and the type of fabric would actually be perfect to use as a canvas! I funny enough also wanted to make a red piece of art lmao
You didn't sign your painting. Very important to claim your art work, who knows it may sell for millions someday.
Omg yes, thank you. I like where your head’s at!
Did you use the cheap painters drop cloth? Or a proper stretch canvas.
Yeah, just painters drop cloth I already had
@@stephyoungren thanks for this response. It helped a lot.
Wait, I'm confused, is the canvas you used normal sewing fabric? treated with gesso so one can paint or is it true canvas?
It’s a drop cloth treated with gesso
You are beautiful and wonderful Mashallah
What is your field of work
I want to work with you.
Plz can you ntinue this video from the beginning a little slower 😢get well nose 👃 breathing 😮💨 inhaling and exhaling 👃
I waisting my time watching this horrible project
Art is subjective 🤍 have a good day!
The word Is “wasting”, and no one forced you to watch. 😳
Firstly Teresa Jimenez, I believe the word you wanted was "wasting" not "waisting". If you are "waisting", please seek medical help.
Secondly, you felt you were wasting time, yet you stayed longer and wasted even more time to comment on time wasted.
Your brain works just amazingly well, doesn't it?
Thirdly, bye.
Someone never heard the saying "if you have nothing nice to say, dont say it at all"
@@stephyoungrenIt's clear you got class. One would hope that more people showed orhers the same cutesy.
I loved your video. I have often had the same idea about the dropcloth from bunnings and was so excited to see how you showed to use it. I loved the red colours, both of them. I am a sucker for layered colour with texture, so it really spoke to me.
I very much enjoyed seeing this. I had the same experience making my own gesso. It's fun though:) I need to learn how to make time lapse vids. 🪴
