Well a tool for everything. LOL Primer install tool. I have been sucked into the the cheap imported gaskets and have been burned as you say. Right on Get it running right and then spend the time on the rest of the maintenance. It runs as smooth as my clock in the shop now.
I really like those Hayter mowers Mick, I admire them every time I see you work on one. You had that patient diagnosed in no time at all. Thanks for the lesson.
Nice repair Mick! If i take the carb off on those pulse prime type tanks i always replace the diaphragm because they only cost $2.39 for the OEM Briggs part. Those are the easiest carbs to work and Briggs quit using them. 🇺🇸👍Roger
Great job Mick :) We can't buy HAYTER mowers on PL :/ But I have one from import from DE with 875EX B&S, 22inch blade and soon try record good video with them :) Sorry my english it's not briliant :p. Good Luck with next video!
Afternoon mate the drill in the jet worked for the hunting on the 56 but had to happen on a 41 snapped the drill bit in that one where is the best place to get a new one some price are £15 just for the jet mate
Excellent video as usual Sir Mick. I see you're closing in on 7k subscribers now...well done mate! I've got a briggs engine in at the moment which was hunting. I bought a genuine diaphragm & gasket and fitted it but it's now even worse than before! I think I must have made a hash of cleaning out the tank and jets on the carb...oh well...time to strip it back down and start from scratch I suppose.
@@themowerman Thanks Mick. I'm happy the governer springs are doing what they need to...as the vane moves freely. Do you mean the crankcase breather tube or the intake manifold? EDIT: I think you mean the intake manifold which is bolted underneath the coil right?
So the plot thickens; tried squirting carb cleaner around the intake gasket and along the tube and there was no change in idle. Also removed it and inspected it and no damage visible. Reinstalled and same as before. Also removed and inspected breather pipe and no damage and no change in performance. Tried moving the governer vane to close the carb butterfly (with the air box removed) and on fully closed it settles to normal running speed. With air box fitted it runs badly. A new NGK B2LM makes no difference either. Does that suggest governer springs need attention do you think?
Hi Mick Great video and it gives me the confidence to do a strip and carb clean as you did…..I have a Hayter Hawk 308A 2003 will the diaphragm and gasket from your video fit mine as I see it’s a sprint375 too? If so I’ll get on and order from your link 👍 Best regards to you and Riley
Hi Mick…I bought the diaphragm and gasket from your suggestion and fitted today….I’ve just bought the Hawk and was told it had been serviced but was hunting/surging when I used it….that’s when I come a crossed your channel….it runs lovely now after I cleaned the carb and jets thru with WD40(tbf I think the seller may have serviced it and used the old gasket and diaphragm) Thanks again Regards Nick

Got a hayter 41. Great machine. In dry weather nothing much cuts and stripes as good.
Love the flathead Briggs. I can't believe the type of money you can get for a Hayter mower. Makes sense as to why you restore them now!
