Jason, you did a great job on the bowl. I love the wood grain patterns. No two will ever be the same. This beautiful bowl should fetch a handsome price at the school auction. I am sure they appreciate your hard work in making it. I enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work, my friend.
As a Dane, it always gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside, when I see a danish product all across the Atlantic. I hope your winch will be a good ambassador for Denmark.
I'm a fan of the thicker sides. As you pointed out, there's a lot going on in there. It turned out beautifully! Best of luck and success in the fundraiser. What a great dad and education supporter!
Every time you go slo-mo in these turning videos I always expect something bad to happen to your project.... so glad nothing does 👍. Excellent work as always.
That is another beautiful piece. I think that by leaving it thicker you have kept a lot of caricature in the top lip. Love that look. Waiting for the next video.
You’re way too kind, Jeff! Thank you. This form of woodworking really speaks to me as I’m sure I don’t need to explain to someone bringing to life the pieces that you do. It means a lot to me that you appreciate these pieces.
Jason, very unique piece. Lotta time in this one! The finished bowl actually looks like an antique. I don't know if this kinda work is relaxing, cause the closer you get to completion, it seems as tho the stress level raises exponentially for disaster with the hours put into it ! Even with the laser burn! Very original, should it bring a high bid for the school !
Thank you, John! I really learned to take my time on this one. If I feel like I’m rushing, I take a break. Getting back to it with a fresh dose of patience makes it go much smoother it seems.
Looks like the next tool for the wood shop would be a decent bandsaw. It will certainly help in roughing out an approximate round bowl blank from the log chunks you've been using of late.
Oooh, a 3 point logging winch! I'm wanting one of those myself. It's hard to justify a new one, but they hardly ever come up for sale used. Even if you find a used one, the prices are usually close to new anyway.
Wrap in newspaper and place in the microwave, 5 to 10 minutes, then allow to cool and repeat. With the larger checks , fill with tinted epoxy resin, or add some bow ties, in a dark timber,.
Nice video Jason … how did your area do during the last ice storm? Lane county and the surrounding area really got hammered, especially the scrub oaks. Take care brother … ✌🏻!
I saw a TH-camr talking about Rubio Monocoat finishes. He likes the way it works with one exception. He said it tends to cause yellowing of lighter color woods after a short time. Has that been your experience? The bowl turned out great!
Thank you! I usually use it on darker woods. I did use it on an oak table about a year and a half ago and haven’t noticed any yellowing. It definitely made this English walnut darker.
@@NorthwestSawyer I'd like to know a little more about hard wax oil finishing. It's not meant to be a stain even though they will put some color in wood. Do they also act as a sealer, or are they made to be a topcoat finish only?
I’m thinking it’s time for you to get yourself a turner smock… after 30 years of turning I finally upgraded mine to an Axminster smock. Recommend this one for overall quality and fair price. I’m not affiliated with them Yet! Lol.
Nice bowl, Jason. It should do really well at the auction. Was that one small screw the only reverse you put in there or did you slip another one past me? Bill
@@NorthwestSawyer ever since that bowl split in half I get a not in my stomach and start to feel bad for you. Just remember when you’re doing that the story about the little boy who cried wolf. Keep up the great work.

Thank you! It ended up bringing $130. Not too shabby.

You can’t beat the quality, that’s for sure! The winch video is posting in the morning. It’s very impressive.
Nice job, Jason! Love the feather in the bottom of the bowl. This piece was a lot of effort! 😊
Phil
Thank you, Phil! I saw a lobster tail there. 😉
I like the colors. That's a win.
Thanks, Archie! Most it the color ended up sanding out but it’s given me ideas for future projects.
Jason, that couldn't have came out better. Love the English Walnut.
Thank you! I’ve had my eye on that piece of wood for a long time. I’m glad it came out well😁
OMG! THAT IS A STUNNING BOWL! I had my doubts. I thought it was going to break apart on you! So glad it didn't. Perfection my friend!
Thank you! I really took my time with it.

Love that WeCreat Laser Engraver. MUCH better than my Laser Pecker II. Saving up for one.
You won’t be disappointed, Ron! The camera makes it fool-proof.
What more can be said other than, Awesome!
Thank you!

Thank you!! I agree.
Awesome job Jason. I like your new laser. You do great work.
Thank you! The laser works great! I’m pretty lucky to get to try these nice tools.
Jason what an Amazing Bowl, I hope the bids go through the roof. 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Thank you! I’ll keep you posted!
English Walnut when it's spalded is SOO much better looking. A lot more contrast in interest in the wood
I agree! It looks like a totally different species.
Awesome bowl! Please do a piece on how this does in the auction. That "beauty shots" piece - you should release that as a short form as well.
Great idea! Thank you! I will definitely post an update.
Wonderful work! I enjoyed watching it.
Thank you, Ronald!
Jason super nice well done,
Kind regards From Will 👍 😊
Thank you, Will!
Nice job dude. I subscribed for the sawmilling, but as a fair country woodworker I enjoyed watching the turning.
Thank you! You’re gonna like tomorrow’s video. Stay tuned😉
I really enjoy the lathe work
Thank you, Brian! I’m having a great time making these videos.
Beautiful work and a very nice piece of wood ❤
Thank you!
Lee valley tools have stop loss bags for Rubio and other finish storage
Thank you! I’ll check them out.
looks really good
Thank you!
And now he has become an artist not that you wasn't before but that was the most perfect tendon removal I have ever seen well done sir.

Best turning yet!
Thank you, David!
Great job, Jason. The bowl should go for a high price.
Thank you! I hope so.
I liked the effect on the inside of the bowl Jason, looked like a X-ray of a spine or similar.
Thank you, Barry! I thought it looked like a lobster tail.
Ugly chucks of wood always have hidden surprises inside. Thanks for the video.
That sure seems to be the case! Thank you for watching, Bob.
Amazing Just amazing. You are so talented. Damn
Wow! Thank you, Mike!
Turn and burn Jason! Nice bowl! Can't wait to find out how much it brings in for the fund raiser. Great video thumbs up.
Thank you, Craig! I’ll definitely keep you posted😉

Now that’s a beautiful bowl my friend! I need to get back to my lathe ! Turn myself into a giant chia pet! LOL!
Thank you! This one made a lot of curly chips😂

I saw a really good deal one one near me but it sold before I could get to it. I should probably sell the two I have to make room😉
Very nice.good work.

Can your followers get in on the auction? I would love to bid on this it is a beautiful piece.
If there is a link available, I will definitely post the information. Thank you!

Nice video Jason … how did your area do during the last ice storm? Lane county and the surrounding area really got hammered, especially the scrub oaks. Take care brother … ✌🏻!
We lost quite a few trees. I made a video on it. I just drove through Lane county last week. I couldn’t believe the damage!
Now that you’re retired, do you ever wonder how you got anything done while you were employed? Nice job on the bowl and hope it slays at the auction!
That is the TRUTH! I’m still behind!😂😂
build the truck !!!
I’m working on it! I found a radiator and have some time coming up.

That was it, Bill! Super subtle but you caught it!😉
❤Just beautiful ❤
Thank you!
👍👍
❤I like the way you love touching

Drying the wood so fast while it is thick is not a good idea. Especially next to a heat source guarantees deep cracks.
You mean deep “character”?😉
Very little turning skill.
Very little commenting skill…
I always get nervous when you go to the slow motion shot, it seems that’s when things go wrong if they are going to go wrong. 🫣
I have a confession to make… I did that on purpose 😂
