I just purchased the white satin 1723’s after a lot of research. I think I will be happy with my purchase. One thing you forgot is; 1) 10 year warranty, 2) 60 day trial period and free shipping and free return shipping. Now that is expressive. That why I went with the 1723’s.
@@davidjudd951 these speakers are the best speaker I have heard by far. The clarity of the vocals and the instruments are incredible. Highs, Mids and Lows are amazing. Glad I purchased these Arendal 1723.
I would have already ordered a pair but the day I went to order they had stopped offering the gloss black. What gives? Really wish they offered a wood finish but had decided I could live with gloss black (again).
I just bought the 1723 center for my birthday (May). This sucker is SO well built. It is an amazingly great speaker. My first choice was the large Perlisten. But, alas, not even close to my budget. I can't recommend the Arendal speaker enough. I am over the moon with the quality and sound. I had a large Klipsch center before. But the quality was severely lacking. So glad I upgraded.
I have these Arendal speakers - they are badass. I normally am an upgrade all the time guy but since getting these, hard to want to switch - they aren’t end game but they are damn close
Great review! Having heard all 3 speakers in your room I completely agree with your evaluation. The Arendal are very well made, and sound better than they look, the clear winner, Impressive. On the other hand, to do a full 7 ch base layer, no heights, the cost is really climbing up there, especially in Canadian dollars. It would be great to compare other offerings in that price range, Paradigm Founder 80F, or the Sonus Faber Lumina V's and so many more... The tough part, most of us can't demo the products, how does one make a decision?? That's where honest, trustworthy unbiased reviews are valuable in making a buying decision. Keep up the good work!! Cheers
Hey John, I hope you are doing well brother. Thank you for the always insightful comment! I agree it would be great to get all the big hitters in the same price range in a room and do a blind comparison.
Great explanation of the differences between these speakers. I like how you're able to give your opinion without investment bias. Another great vid. Thanks!
Also, if you're not planning 2-channel direct listening you can go with the 1723 Monitors (or 1723 S) if there will always be a dedicated subwoofer in the mix. Audioholics and Arendal themselves say as much. That can save a good bit of cash.
Actually this comparison is VERY valuable, thank you for that! These speakers are all probably at the top for their respecitve price ranges. So which one has the most relaxing (least bright) sound? Not sure if I got that right.
I would say the smoothest speaker is the Arendal. The SVS have an aluminum tweeter which is slightly harsher than the Arendal at loud volumes. The Arendal use a soft dome tweeter with a waveguide that does have some SLIGHT brightness (not quite neutral), but it is the smoother speaker still.
The ultra tower is a nice two channel music speaker. The bass is surprisingly strong, but for movies it's a lot of wasted money as you'll use a subwoofer. You can save some money and have a very similar experience by going with the ultra bookshelfs and subs.
preferred to push the sub down to 60hz(vs 80) with my towers, as they could easily take it. sound quality was a bit improved I felt with more clarity in the upper bass region and better stereo perspective(single large sub to the side), and the sub became more invisible and focused on the lower bass. this was not SVS though, just wanted to share my experience of a tower not necessarily being wasted due to sub(s)
Arendals are awesome. I personally loving my SVS Evolutions bookshelfs. They rock. I looked at the Arendals they sounded great I just like the punch and clarity of the SVS
Thanks for taking the time to compare these!! I was one the emails asking you about upgrading from the SVS Ultras. I'm def interested in the Arendals as they seem to be have taken the title for best "bang for your buck" that SVS were known for 4-5 years ago. Curious if you have heard Ascendo's yet? Trinnov seems to be doing a lot of demos with them.
I didn't ask for either of these comparisons, but I think they are excellent choices. Price isn't everything (sometimes lower priced speakers can do better in an area you care about more) and the RP8000F and SVS Ultra are VERY common purchases in the home theater space. I've always felt that the Arendal's are somewhat more home theater focused over music focused making these comparisons spot-on regardless of price. Thank you for the video! I'm currently running Polk R700s as LR and the Polk L400 as C in my living room home theater setup and have been eyeing the Arendal 1723 as an upgrade with the goal of more dynamic range and overall higher SPL output capability (its a large room). But there isn't much on the internet talking about the details I'm wondering about. I'll watch every video you put out about the 1723 series!
The Polk Reserve speakers punch above their price point on sound quality FOR SURE. I reviewed the R200's and loved them, they are my budget speaker of choice. I appreciate the support my friend...cheers!
I really wanted to buy the 1723's but having 2 kids in college I opted for the Heco Aurora 1000's and for less than $1200/pr I am very happy with what I am hearing. Maybe in a few years I will try the 1723's?
I'm thinking of purchasing the Heco Aurora 1000's and I believe you made a good choice! You saved $600 off the msrp price which is $1799. The Arendals are double that price but not double the performance. I think I would like the 1723's and I'm at a cross road of sorts. After 18 satisfying years with the Maggie 1.6's I think they need to be upgraded. Magnepan said they upgrade all their speakers which is great. However I'm leaning towards the Heco Aurora 1000's as interim speakers while the Maggie's are being upgraded and to switch speakers now and then. I agree with Mr Guttenberg, (the audiophiliac) that we well healed audiophiles need to do this from time to time. I also think it helps to keep one's hearing in shape!
For people that have to use a traditional horizontal center speaker, the SVS ultra Center might have a slight off-axis advantage due to its 3-way design. I’ve heard great things about the Arendal speakers, but not having a 3-way center is what has kept me from taking a more serious look, for better or worse. Not sure if really matters from a practical standpoint or not, but thought I’d mention it.
Off-axis is the svs center better but Arendal towers monitors and center sound more as it is the same speaker. THX recomendation is that the 3 front speakers are the same, the arendal center is the same speaker as the monitor. And the towers are the same as the monitors with 2 bass woofers under it. The wave guide in the Arendals helps also for better off axis listening.
@@palmspar I have never listened to the Arendals so I don’t know how they compare. Personally, I think I would lead towards the Arendals because of the wave guides and I’ve heard great things about their dynamics, but I really don’t know. One thing that should be clarified though is the “3 same front speaker” THX recommendation. That is indeed true, but even using the Arendal monitors, if the center speaker isn’t positioned the same way as the others, while I’m sure it would be close, you’re still not matching the recommendation. By being on its side, especially as you move around the rooms the center channel will disperse sound differently than the other monitors that are standing up. All that said, if the closest thing you can get to matching LCRs are the monitors, I would go that route. I’ve been thinking of looking into the KEF R6 Meta’s for that reason. They’re like the Arendal monitors, but they use a coaxial tweeter/mid woofer design that better solves for this issue. The devil’s advocate against 3-way/coaxial designs that use the smaller mid woofer is that they’re less dynamic than the Arendal because the mids come out of a smaller driver (at least this is my understanding of the argument). I personally would go for the KEFs in an ideal world, but if I were buying new, I would be looking at the Arendals before the SVS speakers, if I am to be honest. They’re all good speakers though, including the SVS ones. I bought SVS speakers a few years ago and have no complaints.
The problem with all these speaker reviews is that, like hinted, the price differences. A measuee of relative performance would be a better approach. Ex. If the Arendal are 100% and thr Klipsch are 80% overall, its a 20% performance difference. However to get a 20% boost in relative performance, you're paying 360% more. Thats why I think Klipsch is so popular. Not because they arevrhe best but because their price to performance ratio is hard ti beat.
I agree, but I had several questions asking about the RP8000F specifically. I have never personally owned the RF7's, so I wouldn't have been able to provide an educated opinion on them.
So with cost and sound quality that suits me, I went with Klipsch rp-8000 ii. Using the rp-600 ii in the rear with the rp-504c ii center channel. The subwoofer Klipsch rsw-12 duel. It's a great in a 15 x 26 room
A better comparison would have been the Klipsch RF-7 III's instead of the RP-8000 II. Still a lot less than the Arendal 1723 but at least the fit and finish along with performance is a big upgrade. As for SVS? It's time for a refresh.
I agree on both accounts, but I had several questions asking about the RP8000F specifically. I have never personally owned the RF7's, so I wouldn't have been able to provide an educated opinion on them at this time. Hopefully I can get a set in for review in the future.
@@SpecOfTech The RF7III's have two 10 inch woofers and a compression driver, are made of real wood, are more efficient and can handle a lot more power. Another option would be the Perlisten S7 line. They are similar THX type speakers.
They are 1000 more but that includes shipping. you only need to add tax and now as of January they are increasing the price. Compared to my B&W 800 D3's they are very similar in sound and the B&W are 19K each.
@@triplelexxx9407I do have a set of B&W 800 D3's, that I gave my son when I got the Arendal, They are very close in sound using the same equipment. I am still testing the Arendal, what I can tell you is that the Arendal are very neutral in sound, large imaging, stage and extremely good and more for the money. I do love the B&W for sure, they where my favorites after my Aida, even if Wilson and others make really good speaker. If you have the 800 D3's no need to replace them, but if you want to test another set because you want to, they are amazing, Unbeatable for the money, I can say that if they where selling retail they would be over 15k. Quality finish is superb.
I have some really nice Klipsh speakers. Original RF-63 towers and RC-64 sealed center. Cost $1000.00 each 15 years ago. Love them. Now have Arendal 1723 S speakers. They are better speakers and match better for movie panning. They are just very neutral, and they can hit low notes with more impact. Their 1723 S bookshelves would fall a little flat as LCR speakers compared to my huge Klipsch, but their monitors and towers outperform them. Dialoge is much clearer.
Aren't the high gloss finishes distracting for home theater?............... I'm not a home theater person but it seems those cabinets would reflect the TV? Reggae, Funk & Brass 🔈🔉🔊
There are some that don't like gloss finish for home theater use. I am one that doesn't mind gloss black in my home theater, I have never been distracted by them.
Thank you for this video. Comparisons are always the hottest topic. So along those lines: What, in your opinion, is worth spending to get notably better sound quality than thr Arendals?
Thanks for watching! IMO, you would want to be looking at something like JTR. They should be a significant step up in pretty much all regards. If you are looking for a step up in musicality, you could look at the Paradigm Founder series.
Incredibly interesting and important video. I've come to pretty much the same conclusions. Now I'm wondering how Arendal 1723 compete with top-tier... something like B&W 804 🧐 B&W are much more demanding to amplifier and sound source. But I can't imagine the difference in sound 🤔
There's something about youtube compression when combined with high quality audio (yours) that triggers my tinnitus. At first, I thought it was a couple of speakers that you played in your other videos. Then as I was sitting with this video, my tinnitus kicked in during your analysis. The bass segments in this video are below my NHT 2.5 speakers' range. I don't experience it with other youtubers (PC tech analysts) who have studio quality microphone/streaming. It might be as simple as the Shure microphone(s) you use, or something more esoteric, such as your pre/amps/PC audio processing configurations. The mystery thickens.
Sorry to hear that. I'm not sure what would be causing that. The Shure microphones are very highly rated for their sound quality, it's what most podcasters use including Joe Rogan. I would be curious what microphones the other TH-camrs are using like PC Tech Analysts you mentioned.
Hello,I have been listening many of your videos for the last 2 years. They are really good reviews. But after all that time I was surprised to find out we are neighbors. I always thought you were in USA until you mentioned living in Calgary. Small world. Just a week ago I saw some Sinus Faber VIII on sale on Kijiji. But looks like they were sold yesterday because the add is gone. I have been an audio addict for quite some time. I am looking for a good set of floor standing speakers. To match my Krell mono blocks MCT 350 that have been stored under my stairs since I moved 13 years ago. I am trying to understand your changes of speakers and having difficulty. It looked like the legacy were amazing speakers but then you changed them for the paradigm, then I see you had some S Faber. Just looking at the base and the finish appear to be the nicest speaker of them all.Maybey guess is that they lack in low frequencies for your taste . Now I see those 5 speakers from Era del Wich seem nice but completely different in price range and status. Can you give a bit of expectation,I was really surprised you sold the Legacy. I have never heard any of those speakers, I need to hear them Thank you Again very interesting videos. Thanks. André
No way, what a small world, thanks for watching the channel. Haha yeah even I struggle to understand why I do what I do. No just kidding. Because of my TH-cam channel I change equipment quite often so that I can do reviews on them. I am still a small channel, so most companies haven't been willing to send me units for review, so I end up having to buy them myself. The reason I sold Legacy, is because they left a bad taste in my mouth after I placed such a large order and they sent me damaged bookshelf speakers twice. Even the third pair they sent was not satisfactory when it came to the finish. Their reply to me on those issues was also less than satisfactory. Because of those reasons, I decided I didn't want to deal with them at that time. Since then a friend of mine has convinced me that Legacy has changed, so I have placed another order with them. I sold the Sonus Faber speakers to fund the purchase of Legacy speakers. Arendal sent me these speakers for review, I did not purchase them. They will be sent back in the coming weeks. If you ever see a change in something that seems to be moving backwards, it's because I sold the higher end gear to fund the purchase of the lower end gear for review sake. I know what you're thinking..."don't you lose money"? Yes...yes I do lol. I do it for the audio community, and for me to learn.
Thanks for replying. I have several systems also here and in Cancun. But since I moved from Montreal to Calgary 11 years ago I left my Krells mono 350 under the stairs in their crates. I had a pair of Wilson Maxx II and I had to sell them because they would of gone through the living room floor. And with cardboard walls living in a townhouse I would of have the police aat my door every second day. I also had a pair of Sophia's that I sold also. Liked them in the store but at home, I didnt like the sound at all. They never compared with my low cost british speakers with a ribbon tweeter. Even the guy who came to place them from audio center and set them up, admitted to me at the end they will never sound and have the clarity of your british speakers. So for 5 years they stayed in the crate with the films on. I finally gave them away for 5 k from 15 before moving to Calgary. The reason, I was very busy with work, didn't have time. Now, I want to go under my stairs and get the amps out and find a pair of speakers. I dont want to go crazy, spent enough in the past. I am thinking, the Paradigm 120 but with Krell's mono isn't that a waste, maybe get the 100 but the woofers are smaller. For sure they don't sound the same. Then maybe the legacy, maybe the signature??? I am able to have a deal on Scansonic's but never heard them and apparently they are coming with a new one with bigger woofers. I kind of like the style thin and tall, impressive look. now such a big fuss about the arrendal 1723 ???? But where can I listen to them??? I hate to order something and return it,I don't want to repeat the story of my Sophia's. Now,I think the price is amazing, but how do they sound? So yesterday,I went to Audio Room , they have focals for 40% off. 936,948and a smaller model wich I found more interesting than the 936, they didn't have the 948 in store. I think the chorus, they had more tight mid's . But ugly speaker!!!!!!! Then I went upstairs and I listened to some ugly ugly bookshelves ,he kind of sat me there but I wasn't interested. I decided to be polite and get it over asap. But I was blown away by the sound coming out of that. They are PMC speakers. Famous around the world and in most recording studio's. So, I am lost now. I don't know what to do. To me a speaker has to look beautiful also. Little details bother me, for instance the Legacy I dont understand why the tweeters are almost touching the other circular woofer's,it almost look's like it is on top of it, Like a construction worker in a hurry to go for his break. I also saw a picture of a speaker that had vertical grain for the finish in front and had it horizontal on the sides????????????. How can you sell a 10 k product and make these beginner's mistakes????? You probably know the owner ?seem's like a very nice guy though. Anyway, if you can help me one minute? I would like to know in order what you prefer after testing all of them. I am curious to know, and I would like to know about the SF also. I remember that Sonus Faber have the most beautiful details and finishes, they are not only speakers but like an art piece inside your living room. I am not sure the Paradigm come close to them in that aspect. Just note that I kind of like a sound that is clear with tight mid's and I like good bass but not a boomy. I know I can hear the founder 120,100 at Base audio . But where can I listen the Arendal's 1723 ? Thank you so much. I hope one day we can meet. Your videos are great, very articulated and complete. They are interesting. I don't fall asleep like the guy audioholic's whatever, I can never get to the end. Actually ,works better than sleeping pills. Thanks again.😂

I installed the Polk R700 for my brother last week and I feel they would be the best compromise to my Arendal the price for the R700 is very good for the Quality speakers but the 1723 are just so good for what they are. The 1723S would be a better comparison to the rp8000 svs even the R700 price is closer but if the S line does everything like the THX line just in a 6.5 inch they would still take the win in my opinion. Even the 1961 look like they punch well above their class. Arendal really took the speakers scene by storm never heard a bad thing about them are they perfect nope but for the price I think they could be endgame for 95% of people out there no matter what version your wallet can afford.
I agree, Arendal did a bang up job with their design. They are providing one of the best values in the business right now IMO. I am a big fan of the new Polk Reserve line-up also, when it comes to budget speakers, they are number 1 on the market right now.
I have R700s carrying my living room theater setup. Right now the only upgrade path I see is to the 1723 towers. Everything else I've looked at is at a price point 2-3 times as much as the Arendal or is a more music focused speaker that won't give me the dynamic range and/or raw SPL level I'm looking for in a large room.
@hobblyjig yeah my brother was impressed at my 1723 but didn't have the budget for a full HT setup of this price so after a talk with Barrett the R700 and the bookshelves were the perfect option the 10% off was also a bonus.
I audition the 1723 With a vintage 2255 McIntosh amp at 250 watts per channel Man Man they sound good, Good for funky music Let me say they sound good for all music
The RP’s and RF’s have time alignment issues and are out of phase; thus the midrange is scooped. The GR Research xover kits do wonders. I do like those Arendal’s though, especially in white.
There is nothing wrong with the klipsch rf711 …have compared to many others and they have slam, volume and scale better than anything in their price range
I have the klipsch rp-280fa, and I love them. then I'm not sure... they are clear loud and don't distort. My rear spearkers are definitive technology D11s and it's a great sound together they compliment each other well..
Yes, and one more, they have a 1 year new product purchase, Meaning they will pay for your shipping back to them in exchange for the purchase of a new product. I am guessing you pay the difference and done +tax. Also the majority of us compare the Arendal 1723 THX to the Klipsch RF-7 III based on pricing and performance. ( I did just Purchased the Arendal 1723 THX after speaking to you and Lukas. The Klipsch been more aggressive, less neutral.
The RF7 III would be a more suitable comparison for price and performance...agreed. I just had several questions about the Klipsch RP8000F, and I have owned them before, that is why I went with that comparison. Congrats on the purchase my friend, when do you get them?

Love ❤️ It Great 1 !!!! I Would Love If U Got Your Hands On The Kef's R11 Meta Speakers, To Compare To The ARENDAL 1723.. I Would Personally Love That!
The KEF R11 are speakers that I have wanted to get in more than once. I haven't been able to find anyone willing to send them to me for review, but if I am able to get a pair before I need to send the Arendal speakers back, I will do the comparison.
The truth is if you have any of these speakers and/or the rest of the set up for home theater or stereo system...you're good to go. When you get to this level...only your dog can tell the difference in sound quality. Don't base opinion of speakers till they've broken in...my Klipsch RP-280Fs sound way different a month or two later than when I first bought them. Lastly, these are some big/heavy ars speakers. They don't look so on a video but believe me they take up space. They belong in a medium to large room to get full use out of them. So, consider this before purchasing.
Another great video. Love your channel. I’ve seen in the comments a lot of people asking about comparing the Erendals to the Founder 120H. One question that I haven’t heard and I would love your opinion on, is do you think the Founder 120H will go as loud as the Arendals without breaking up or getting too harsh? Thank you…
Thanks brother! I don't remember the 120H ever breaking up or sounding harsh at loud volumes. Granted I am not someone that likes to crank things to 11 unless I am doing demos or testing them for a review. In my opinion the 120H were more musical than the 1723, because they had a bit of warmth to their sound signature. It seemed to help instruments to sound more authentic. The bass on the 120H is SIGNIFICANTLY better than the Arendal. The Arendal will be more true to the source material though. If I were given a choice between only those 2 speakers, I would choose the 120H, hands down. Then again, they are $9000 USD for the pair vs the $3699 USD of the 1723's. The Arendal punch above their weight and price point, but not quite that high lol.
I might do a video comparison of the 2. It would depend on your use case, is it for movies or music. If you are a music listener only, I would choose the Sonetto's. They are a beautiful sounding and beautiful looking speaker, no question. The Arendal would perform better for a home theater setup. So if you do use the system for HT, or even if you use it for HT and music, I would choose the Arendals. They are an excellent all arounder that truly shine in a HT scenario.
Also how would you compare the soundstage of both. I prefer a wide soundstage. Or at least as wide as you can get while still having decent detail and imaging.
Sorry my friend, I have never heard the Klipsch RF7's in my room. I have heard them in store before. From what I can remember the 1723's would be the better all around speaker over the RF7's. The RF7's aren't really a neutral sound, whereas the 1723" are pretty close to neutral. The Klipsch might have more powerful bass with those dual 10" drivers, but I imagine that's the only category that they would subjectively take the win. But like I said, I only heard them in the store, so take this with a grain of salt.
I recently had a demo of the monitor version and found them nice but their tweeter lacking. The main issue for me was sound of cymbals. The finish and build quality is great. But they aren't for me. Rock music in general just didn't sound as good as many other cheaper options.
I'm looking for a 3 way tower for a large room. I like loudness and dynamic of the Klipsch rp280f and forwardness but I want a more fuller wider sound with some warmth and some sparkle on the highs something that has bottom end and mid range and can play loud 90-100db but no fatiguing high lvl listening. Somewhere between laid back and forward.
Then I would give these Arendal 1723's a try, I would say they suit what you are looking for quite well. If you don't like them they have a 45 day trial period. Please consider using my link if you do decide to go that route, cheers.
That's a really tough question. I haven't heard them, but possibly the Martin Logan F200's...at least based on what I have read. I imagine the KEF R11 would also be a great comparison to Arendal 1723, depending on the sound you like. Both of those options do cost more though. The Arendals punch above their weight class, no question.
The Arendal were sent to me for review, I'd have to buy them to keep them. I definitely have considered it, but I want to start building my reference system, so there are other options on the table as well.
The 120H will be a little less neutral, they lean on the warm side of neutral. For music, I would take the 120H hands down. They have bass response down to 18hz, making them a full range speaker. They are smooth and detailed also, but their bass is impossible to compete with for the price. For HT, it's a tougher call. The Arendal are an excellent HT speaker. Plus, in a HT you will be using a subwoofer, so the bass in the 120H is as big of an advantage, so it level the playing field. Overall, I would still choose the 120H, but if budget is an issue I would take the 1723 and be happy.
Sorry, I have very little experience with Def Tech speakers. I haven't heard their products, in any meaningful way anyway. The Arendal 1723 are one of top recommendations for Home Theaters though.
Well For one thing you could get the Klipsch RP 8000 for $700 a paire at certain times of the year but no more than $900, for that price you cout get 3 pairs of Klipsch for the price of the Arendal, I think when comparing the Arendals you have to use speakers around its price range like Bowers and Wilkins or Focal and when your talking Klipsch the RF 7 llls or some cheaper heritage speakers
@@SpecOfTechYou're right! I was making a choice exactly between these models. It would be cool also to hear Your Arendal positioning between B&W, KEF etc.
Are they 1000 dollars better? The Klipsch RP-8000f also came in a Piano Black for 200 dollars more, but maybe they weren't available at the time of this review. I'm not sure why someone would want $1800 Klipsch compared to a 3500 speaker, so now the question becomes, are they twice the price better? They RP-7 would have been the best comparison. Klipsch needs a break in time and perform best with tube or hybrid amps. Home theater Receivers I'd say NAD, Yamaha would be most appropriate. I would hope the Arendal sounded better.
They are 2 different speakers, that have different sound characteristics. The 100F are warmer and are geared more towards music, but still perform very well for HT, IMO. The 1723 are geared more towards HT, but still perform very well for music. The 1723's are aiming for a neutral sound signature, unlike the warmth of the Founders. If I had to choose between the 2 personally, I would choose the 100F. It's no secret the Founder speakers are one of my favorite speakers ever, especially in Midnight cherry.
Good question. 3 8" drivers would have more cone area than a single 12" driver. That said, the Arendal's have staggered crossover points for those driver. Even with that in mind, my money would be on the 3 8" drivers. Take that with a grain of salt, it's just my initial assumption.
I just picked up SB 3000 sub to pair with my klipsch McLaren 5, Now that I got a taste of the glory I think I'm just going to have to go all in and get a full set up with tower speakers center channel with amp and receiver, This is going to be quite the rabbit whole, any suggestions? Hopefully spend around 3 to 5k, Also debating on upgrading to PB 3000 or rhythmic fvx12 sub
Welcome to the rabbit hole my friend, it gets awfully dark down here lol. If I were to build a system around that budget, here is what I would get: - Polk R700 towers for L&R - amzn.to/3DBzoys - Polk R300 Center - amzn.to/3Yc7Zg4 - OR Possibly a third R700 tower for your center if you can make it work - Tonewinner AT-300 processor - tinyurl.com/7yrajnmm - Check out the Tonewinner amplifiers here Summit Hifi USA - tinyurl.com/ajx32me6 I recommend the AT-300 and Tonewinner 7300 amplifier combo for $2850. This is a good place to start looking anyway. Regarding subwoofers, the PB3000 will give you more output than the SB3000, but my choice would be Rythmik. Rythmik make some of the best subs out there. If you can squeeze it in the budget, check out their 18" ported subwoofer, that's where things get fun.
@@SpecOfTech Do you have experience with Rythmik subs? I’d love your more of your thoughts. I recently bought 4 E15HP2s but these are my first subs, so I don’t know how they compare to other subs. I did a lot of research before I pulled the trigger though.
I would compare the 1723's to the JBL HDI 3800 which is around the same price point and same build quality. But from what I've heard the JBL are more detailed than the 1723's. Good Luck
They are definitely in a different price bracket than the other 2. The extra cost does get you more in performance and build quality though, so at least they didn't cheap out.
The JBL HDI 3800’s are great speakers. I’ve had them for almost two years. They are quite large, around 85 lb per tower. Very well engineered, rock solid, and absolutely gorgeous in the Gray Oak finish. The compression driver needs a thorough break in period, but they sure do sing once that happens - amazing clarity, detail, snap, and presence without being overly bright or fatiguing. I’d say slightly forward. Excellent midrange from the 2.5 way design. Strong bass to 40hz, but a sub is needed if you want to really hear and feel that bottom octave. Huge soundstage too. I highly recommend giving them an audition.
@@SpecOfTech this would be prety awsomeeee ,,,, very undecided between arendal thx and the hdi 3800 ... and arendal thx center vs jbl 4500 center ( the big question )
@@jstoli996c4s hi , do you have the 4500 center ? what your feedback on the 4500 ? i have the svs ultra center , and i dont know if will be a good upgrade ... or will be worts... the svs ultra center is very good .thanks very much for the help
@@darkknight2819 I have no experience with either SVS or Arendal. But I would think that a matching center would sound best. I have no doubt the JBL 4500 sounds great with the 3800’s.
Sorry, I've never heard the Focal towers. It would depend on which model you are talking about. Focal are known to be a little brighter, so you would have to like that sound also. It would be subjective, where they would fall in this line up.
Hey barret quick question for you brother . I have the klipsch rp 280 fa , 504c , rp 600m as rears,& the rp 502 as surrounds & four 500 sa atmos .Being ran off a marantz sr 6013 basically as a pre pro . Emotiva xpa 2 gen 2 for the two front 280's and a xpa 5 gen 2 for all the floor speakers . & a a4 for atmos . Thinking of getting rid of klipsch speakers for svs ultra towers & the rest of the matching set . Is it really worth it in your opinion, I know you have had all these ....
The SVS are a more neutral sound than the Klipsch. You'll find the SVS have a better more full midrange over the Klipsch. The SVS Ultra towers also have some pretty impressive bass. For the price of SVS, you may want to look at saving a little longer and getting something like the Arendal 1723's though.
To put it simply, the Arendal are better for home theater, and the Sonetto's are better for music. The Sonetto's are not a neutral speaker, but it does add to their musicality...assuming you don't mind them straying from neutrality. The midrange and top end of the Sonetto speakers are a little more detailed, but at the cost of a little more brightness at the top end and little cooler sounding midrange. The Arendals are more neutral, with a slight richness in the midrange and a little smoother top end. I hope that helps.
@@SpecOfTech Yeah I never understood the neutrality chase, unless you want a speaker that is extremely revealing and uncolored which for home theater is perfect but for music can sometimes be a detriment if you can no longer listen to poorly recorded or poorly mastered music. I just got the nova 2 speakers for my front LR and possibly center later this year and as double duty movies/music I think they are fantastic. Maybe not as sharp or neutral as arendal or perlisten but music sounds so good through them I just want to sit and listen for hours. Which do you prefer between the sonetto and arendal, like if you could only keep one of the systems which would would it be?
In my opinion the 120H were more musical than the 1723, because they had a bit of warmth to their sound signature. It seemed to help instruments to sound more authentic. The bass on the 120H is SIGNIFICANTLY better than the Arendal. The Arendal will be more true to the source material though. I wouldn't even put the Klipsch RP8000F in the same conversation as the Paradigm though, there is such a VAST price difference it isn't fair at all. Needless to say the Founders are the much better speaker than the Klipsch IMO. If I were given a choice between 1723 and Founder 120H, I would choose the 120H, hands down. The 120H aren't a neutral speaker, but they are a beautiful sounding speaker with bass that's leagues above the 1723's. Then again, they are $9000 USD for the pair vs the $3699 USD of the 1723's. The Arendal punch above their weight and price point, but not quite that high lol.
@@SpecOfTech I appreciate you taking the time to reply and love your reviews! Thanks. What you described seems in line with what I have read and the opinion I have created in my mind so far. My only concern with the Paradigm is the dynamics. Do they lose composure at really high volumes for HT use? 100+ db.
Sorry but I’m so annoyed to hear over and over the “fatiguing” for Klipsch speakers. They’re some of the best and imo more balanced (using them for audio/video editing, home audio and more) speakers you’ll get for the cost. Check what the dude (PKW) did perfecting these and having 23 patents from ballistics to audio. Imo after having a degree in broadcast journalism, these speakers are the most real to sound you’ll get, why he made them. Love the review btw! (Also, this day in age, with the amp, you can manipulate the sound how you want but it’s amazing. If you hate this, (“you either love or hate them” you said that) - I’m lost on how one would “hate” them. He flew himself, learning how to fly, to sell his speakers… beside that again, check the patents. Neat stuff
Good to see someone who is very passionate about Klipsch speakers, you clearly fall in the "love them" category ;). Unfortunately for Klipsch, not everyone feels this way. I have to disagree with your statement that Klipsch speakers are the most balanced speakers for the cost, that simply isn't true based on measurements. I do understand that Klipsch has many patents, and they have done WONDERS for the audio community. You don't have to convince me of that, I am not a Klipsch hater. With that said, I also try to call things as I hear them. Thank you for watching and commenting...cheers.
@@SpecOfTech my point I was trying to make is, how can you hate them? I get what you’re saying lol but hate? That would be like saying I hate cheeseburgers, like huh? I understand it might not be for you or your overall taste, but hate?! Gtfoh with that 😆
Another thing to add is, rhodium plated copper adds more emphasis on the midrange depth. Rhodium is far from the most conductive metal but when it breaks down into which frequencies due to metal composition, rhodium is chosen over golds warmness and silvers metallic sound. I use rhodium plated pure copper connectors for all my speaker wires. To me, it helps with air and smoothness in the treble and midrange. Bass seems less harsh than gold connectors as well. Just my opinion.
@@SpecOfTech I've heard the JBL HDI 3800 as a comparison would win over the Arendals considering they are made using the same HDF materials as the Arendals but handle music better than the Arendals. I've heard the Arendals are better for movies as they are a more neutral speaker. The best comparison would be between the arendal and perlisten as they are both THX type speaker. Good job and good luck. pm
Can't speak to the Arendal, but I had a set of SVS Ultra Towers for about a month with lots of listening. They're great speakers. Worthy peers to my Thiel CS2.3s. But I sent them back at announcement of SVS of a new Ultra Evolution series of speakers because I was going to wait for the new models. Then saw the "Made in China" labels on the SVS' and didn't like that at all. I thought they were made in USA. So wanting a great speaker made in USA choices are rather limited. Bought the Klipsch RF-7 IIIs. I'm day one and readers trust me when I say, there is no comparison between the SVS Ultras and the Klipsch RF-7 IIIs. It may be that my room is 23 x 21 with a 16-foot cathedral ceiling, but the only reason I am here posting this is because I feel compelled to tell people that I just don't think SVS are even in the same league as the RF-7 III speakers. The klipsch sound better from top to bottom, have way more dynamics (they seem alive!), are crisper (NOT HARSH AT ALL) and do everything from symphonic to hip hop to chamber strings with more delicacy or intimacy. They are stunningly great speakers and I've had everything from Polk to Definitive Techs to Thiels to SVS Ultras and now happy to keep the klipsch RF-7 IIIs forever. They are THAT good. I honestly don't understand why some speak of the Klipsch as being even in the same league, let alone ballpark as the SVS. Or it maybe I just happen to love the klipsch sound signature. I've never owned a set of speakers that literally evoke goosebumps or tears. The Kilpsh are that good. But it's a great time to buy a set of SVS Ultras for under $1000 each right now as they are blowing them out. But in my room with my gear, the SVS sound anemic by comparison to the lively, crisp, and well-rounded Klipsch RF-7 IIIs.
Sorry I have never heard the UF5's, I can't give an educated answer on that. I do imagine they would be an upgrade based on the fact that I feel the 1723's punch above their price point and they are significantly more $$ than the UF5's. That's the best I can do for you, sorry.
Golly, I'd hope the Arendal would be better at over 2x the cost of the 8000F. $1400 ($860 a pair on clearance) and $2400 for the SVS vs $3699. What's next? comparing elac DBR 6.2 vs dynaudio heritage special?
@@rvaillant Haha, I am just a junkie. I love audio and home theater, so decided to do something with my passion. Are you a involved in the audio industry?
It's amazing how we fall for Fancy names and get ripped off. I rather spend my money on Amps and Receivers and most important a couple of big Subwoofer
Founders are a different animal yet. They are deliberately not neutral. The Founders have a warmer, smooth and inviting sound to them. That doesn't make them bad, but if you are looking for neutrality, they aren't it. That being said, they are one of my favorite speakers of all time, beautiful sounding and a gorgeous finish that makes me second guess ever selling them.
I would have included them in this comparison if I had heard them in my space. I have no doubt they perform VERY well for their price. I have heard the R200 and was very impressed by them.
Interesting... So made in China cheap, mid and expensive? Hmm... The Arendals have the THX Ultra and excellent reviews going for them, do they still have "Concieved in Norway, born in China, raised by you." on the rear? Haha! If only Paradigm had THX ratings.
I wish Paradigm would go after the HT market more aggressively. They did release the Founder speakers, but IMO, they aren't a complete HT package. They are missing a shallow side surround speaker.
@@SpecOfTech Absolutely. I think they like the "Prestige" of 2 channel snobbery. At least they're not the world's largest speaker manufacturer with a website designed by the marketing team to the 13-18 yr old catagory and barely any skin in the HT game. That would be stupid.
Not everything made in China is junk. I have $650 sneakers that're made in China that take dumps on my Made In The USA & Made In England New Balance shoes. They poop on my German made (Hummel & Hummel) KangaRoos as well. The Arendal 1723 line doesn't have a single piece of plastic anywhere in site, btw. There's also a shoemaker calling himself Vibe Remake Labs who does bespoke Air Jordan 1s for $600 a pop...and he's based in China as well. Just sayin'.
I just purchased the white satin 1723’s after a lot of research. I think I will be happy with my purchase. One thing you forgot is; 1) 10 year warranty, 2) 60 day trial period and free shipping and free return shipping. Now that is expressive. That why I went with the 1723’s.
Free worldwide shipping?
No free shipping to Australia...but you won't regret. Fantastic speaker all round 👏
How are they so far. I'm looking for primarily two channel music listening.
I think the Arendals look fantastic. I love their sleek, minimalist design...and the fact that there's no plastic...
Great explanation of the differences between these speakers. I like how you're able to give your opinion without investment bias. Another great vid. Thanks!
Thanks brother I appreciate it. It's all in the interest in helping the community.
@@hotdog9262Agree. I do always get better balance throwing some bass to towers, instead of all bass to subwoofer. Never liked 80 Hz crossover
I have a pair of the 1723 S towers and agree with your comments. Each speaker is 30kg and are very solidly built and great sounding.

How about Klipsch RF7 MK3 VS Arendal 1723 Tower? Same price and fair. Not the small 8000F.
You should test the monolith T6. Same designer as the Arendal and perlisten speaker’s. Only 800 a pair sounds really good for price.

😂😂...yeah those wallet watching crumb snatchers can deny a father everything he wants for himself 😂
Having owned both centers.. I will say arendal is clear winner! Much much more clear... crisp. Very detailed speaker. I sold my svs ultra
Yeah the center would be more timber match because of the same drivers😮
The problem with all these speaker reviews is that, like hinted, the price differences. A measuee of relative performance would be a better approach. Ex. If the Arendal are 100% and thr Klipsch are 80% overall, its a 20% performance difference. However to get a 20% boost in relative performance, you're paying 360% more. Thats why I think Klipsch is so popular. Not because they arevrhe best but because their price to performance ratio is hard ti beat.
Great Diagnosis of whom was the Best Overall Speakers!
The RF-7III would be a better comparison than the RP-8000f. They are a better match as a function of price IMHO.
I agree, but I had several questions asking about the RP8000F specifically. I have never personally owned the RF7's, so I wouldn't have been able to provide an educated opinion on them.
@@SpecOfTech makes sense! Thanks for taking the time to put together a comparison
@@morgande No problem, I hope it's helpful...cheers.

@@triplelexxx9407I do have a set of B&W 800 D3's, that I gave my son when I got the Arendal, They are very close in sound using the same equipment. I'd like to hear how the 1723's sound better than (which) more expensive speakers.
The SVS are attractive to me. My Denon does very good custom balancing which is significant. Thanks for the review.

Little details bother me, for instance the Legacy I dont understand why the tweeters are almost touching the other circular woofer's,it almost look's like it is on top of it,
Like a construction worker in a hurry to go for his break.

@@hobblyjigthanks for your insight on this!! Well said! 🎉
I audition the 1723
With a vintage 2255 McIntosh amp at 250 watts per channel
Man Man they sound good,
Good for funky music
Let me say they sound good for all music
Probably worth mentioning the Arendal is super low impedance thus very hard to drive. Class A monos anyone? :p

Great review, thank you!

@@oneemotiva4975Didn't You hear the B&W 8-series? Arendal is ridiculously good. But I'm wondering how they would compete against B&W 804 D3/4
If i had the Arendal i'd set then up next to my Revel Performa3 F206 for a fun evaluation.
Has Mr. Spec of Tech ever heard the F206 to offer a comment?
Love ❤️ It Great 1 !!!! I Would Love If U Got Your Hands On The Kef's R11 Meta Speakers, To Compare To The ARENDAL 1723.. I Would Personally Love That!
The KEF R11 are speakers that I have wanted to get in more than once. I haven't been able to find anyone willing to send them to me for review, but if I am able to get a pair before I need to send the Arendal speakers back, I will do the comparison.
@@SpecOfTech , I Most DEFINITELY ♥️ APPRECIATE THAT 👍!
I just got the RP-8000Fii for $1218
A steal !!!. Ill get the 1723s Christmas 2024...
Awesome, very interested in the 120h’s. Thank you for your perspective. I look forward to your shows.👍
How would you compare the Arendals to the Sonus Faber Sonetto’s? I think that’s an interesting comparison
Thank you so much for the response. It would probably be a 75-25 use case with 75 being music
Also how would you compare the soundstage of both. I prefer a wide soundstage. Or at least as wide as you can get while still having decent detail and imaging.
@SpecOfTech thanks for review. How do you think they are compared to Klipsch RF-7 iii? Because they are at the same price at my place.
@@SpecOfTech understood, thanks 🙏
@@SpecOfTech ya the 1723s is a 2.5 way design, looking for the 3 way design
Great job, Barrett! Okay, then, what will give the Arendals more competition?
That's a really tough question. I haven't heard them, but possibly the Martin Logan F200's...at least based on what I have read. I imagine the KEF R11 would also be a great comparison to Arendal 1723, depending on the sound you like. Both of those options do cost more though. The Arendals punch above their weight class, no question.
@@SpecOfTech Thank you!
The million daller question, are they staying or going
The Arendal were sent to me for review, I'd have to buy them to keep them. I definitely have considered it, but I want to start building my reference system, so there are other options on the table as well.
Have you listened to the Dali oberon 9? That would be a speakers in the SVS and klipsch price point.
Love your observations. Have you ever tested Canton I heard they sound very good.
Thanks brother! No I have never heard the Cantons, hopefully one day I can though.
Nice comparison.
How do the paradigm founders compare? For the extra price, are the 120h significantly better than all of these?
The 120H will be a little less neutral, they lean on the warm side of neutral. For music, I would take the 120H hands down. They have bass response down to 18hz, making them a full range speaker. They are smooth and detailed also, but their bass is impossible to compete with for the price. For HT, it's a tougher call. The Arendal are an excellent HT speaker. Plus, in a HT you will be using a subwoofer, so the bass in the 120H is as big of an advantage, so it level the playing field. Overall, I would still choose the 120H, but if budget is an issue I would take the 1723 and be happy.
How do you compare Arendal to Def Tech speakers? Which do you prefer for Hometheater?
Sorry, I have very little experience with Def Tech speakers. I haven't heard their products, in any meaningful way anyway. The Arendal 1723 are one of top recommendations for Home Theaters though.
Would SVS ultra bookshelves surrounds be a decent match to Arendal LCR?
Well For one thing you could get the Klipsch RP 8000 for $700 a paire at certain times of the year but no more than $900, for that price you cout get 3 pairs of Klipsch for the price of the Arendal, I think when comparing the Arendals you have to use speakers around its price range like Bowers and Wilkins or Focal and when your talking Klipsch the RF 7 llls or some cheaper heritage speakers
Agreed. As I said in the video, I only compared them because I had viewers asking for that exact comparison.
Ever review legacy (discontinued) speakers? Id be interested in how the KLF-30s stack up to these speakers.
I haven't no, but those KOF-30's are a beastly speaker. If I ever get the chance to hear them, I'll take it.
Bought Fyneaudio F502SP for my mains, otherwise I would try the Arendals... Got a 1723 1S sub ... nice!
Any comments on how the arendal 1723 compare to the founders 100F...
Also the paradigm center channel 90c vs arendal center?
They are 2 different speakers, that have different sound characteristics. The 100F are warmer and are geared more towards music, but still perform very well for HT, IMO. The 1723 are geared more towards HT, but still perform very well for music. The 1723's are aiming for a neutral sound signature, unlike the warmth of the Founders.
If I had to choose between the 2 personally, I would choose the 100F. It's no secret the Founder speakers are one of my favorite speakers ever, especially in Midnight cherry.
For the budget I went with Ultra’s.
I wonder how the 1723's would compare to the new JBL L100 classic with it's hard core 12" woofer? Would it come close in the bass department?
Good question. 3 8" drivers would have more cone area than a single 12" driver. That said, the Arendal's have staggered crossover points for those driver. Even with that in mind, my money would be on the 3 8" drivers. Take that with a grain of salt, it's just my initial assumption.
@@SpecOfTechgood points. That 12 in the JBL is quite the woofer. I’m going to try and listen to them both to know for sure.
If I were to build a system around that budget, here is what I would get:
- Polk R700 towers for L&R - amzn.to/3DBzoys
- Polk R300 Center - amzn.to/3Yc7Zg4
- OR Possibly a third R700 tower for your center if you can make it work
- Tonewinner AT-300 processor - tinyurl.com/7yrajnmm
- Check out the Tonewinner amplifiers here Summit Hifi USA - tinyurl.com/ajx32me6
I recommend the AT-300 and Tonewinner 7300 amplifier combo for $2850.
What if you going to compare that model of Arendal with MartinLogan 60XTi?
How about the Wharfedale EVO 4.4 Speakers. Which have been given a 5 star rating for around the same money.
I haven't personally heard them, but I have read some reviews that rate them quite high as well.
I would compare the 1723's to the JBL HDI 3800 which is around the same price point and same build quality. But from what I've heard the JBL are more detailed than the 1723's.
Good Luck
I want to hear the JBL's. I have heard nothing but great things about them, especially for music.
Polk should have been on this list as well. Is the Polk legend series better or Arendal??
I personally haven't heard the Legend series in my space, so I don't have an opinion on that, sorry.
Are they an upgrade over the RF7-III?
I’ve never heard arendal but have had the svs towers and klipsch rp series 2 towers geez Louise the arendal are way expensive lol
They are definitely in a different price bracket than the other 2. The extra cost does get you more in performance and build quality though, so at least they didn't cheap out.
Great video
what amps are you using in this video please?
Would it be possible to compare the 1723 to the Tekton Double Impacts?
That might be a tough one. There aren't many Tekton products up here in Canada. I would most likely have to buy them just to review them.
Rp-8000fll… are improved greatly
That's really good to hear. I hope to check them out one day.
I think another great comparison may be Arendal vs Jbl 3800 vs Focal Aria 948?
I would love to do Arendal vs HDI3800. I hope to get my hands on the 3800's someday soon.

Wondering how would Focal Aria fit to this comparison
Sorry, I've never heard the Focal towers. It would depend on which model you are talking about. Focal are known to be a little brighter, so you would have to like that sound also. It would be subjective, where they would fall in this line up.
Hey barret quick question for you brother . I have the klipsch rp 280 fa , 504c , rp 600m as rears,& the rp 502 as surrounds & four 500 sa atmos .Being ran off a marantz sr 6013 basically as a pre pro .
@@SpecOfTech ok , thx for the advice brother
So how would you compare the adrenal speakers versus the sonettos?
Which do you prefer between the sonetto and arendal, like if you could only keep one of the systems which would would it be?
what about those new martin logan speakers that F100 or F10 line?
Good question, I hope to get a set of the ML in for review one day. Until then, I can't really have an educated opinion on them.
How do the Paradigm Founder compare to the Arendal or Klipsch?
The most balanced speaker for its price based on what? Your ear dyno?
@@AbsoluteFidelity based on about 30 years of working in and around audio, that’s all!

@@JOSHSMITH-ak47 must be one heck of a job for you to categorize the Klipschs as balanced.
Just my opinion.
i would look for an MTM satellite above a bass box
like a SVS Ultra Tower ... but beheaded 😮
Ever consider reviewing jbl hdi 3800’s?
I certainly have, I have kept my eyes open trying to get some for review. They are too pricey for me to buy them, just to review them.

The JBL’s are great, I’ve had the 3800’s for almost two years.
@@jstoli996c4s did you get rid of them? If so what made you change your mind?
Do you think Arendel 1723 would be an upgrade over my elac unifi uf5?
Sorry I have never heard the UF5's, I can't give an educated answer on that. I do imagine they would be an upgrade based on the fact that I feel the 1723's punch above their price point and they are significantly more $$ than the UF5's. That's the best I can do for you, sorry.
@@SpecOfTech thanks for getting back 🙏 have you heard the monitor audio silver line?
Golly, I'd hope the Arendal would be better at over 2x the cost of the 8000F. $1400 ($860 a pair on clearance) and $2400 for the SVS vs $3699. What's next? comparing elac DBR 6.2 vs dynaudio heritage special?
i love my klipsch brightness the best for movie i hear everthing
What happened to the Paradigm 120H?
I sold those quite some time ago my friend. I sure do miss them though.
@@SpecOfTech Still have mine. Same ones.
As good as focal kanta???
Can you say where in Canada you live?
I am in Calgary, where are you from?
@@SpecOfTech We are neighbours. Are you a dealer, or just a junkie? ha.
What about the founders!?!
I would even choose the SVS Prime over the Ultras ( Not sure why the Ultras have that price tag ) Mono price or Arendal is the way to go :)

Shoukd habe included the polk r700 i thonk you dont get how incredible they are fkr the price
1961 comparison next?
I would love to, but we'll see.
