For the price of these speakers, I could upgrade my entire surround sound system. Every single component. I could build my modest dream system with 8k.
Caleb, you're speaker set up is right on target for two channel stereo imaging and soundstage. For those interested in these large square hunched forward boxes (Yes I know, it's for time domain accuracy of the mid range and tweeter with the bottom bass drivers) dominating the living space. Good luck for the significant other to be Ok with the location of the speakers. Any further back closer to the wall (adjacent to the TV, will most definitely mean collapse of the soundstage depth and boominess on the bass output. All large cabinet speakers need room, lots of room to breath. Buyer beware. These are excellent home theater speakers. Good delivering two channel music reproduction (with proper location set up), for those with larger rooms and freedom to set them up properly.
Those have powered subs built in so they will have much more bass for sure but the same person who started the Definitive Technology powered sub speakers also started Goldenear. I have 4 Def Tech towers that all have built in subs and none function anymore and Def Tech no longer offers replacement amps for them. I suspect the same is or will be true for the Goldenear powered sub speakers. If you are good at repairing electronics then they may be worth a try. As far as customer service goes, I have 5 SVS subs so far and have been nothing but satisfied dealing with their customer service people on the phone and speaking clear English.
That was a great review! I really appreciated your description of how they sound. I have been looking forward to your review ever since I saw them in the background of some of the TV reviews! I have the Titan’s and they are up in my Theater Room. I have a 2 channel area down in the family room that runs off a Tube integrated amp with Martin Logan Aeon speakers. I had to bring them down to compare them to the ML. They do give off the feel of the airiness of the ML, I was really surprised! Where these speakers totally shined was with Rock music. The depth or clarity of upper mid range and bass is incredible. My wife really preferred the Titan’s over my Martin Logan speakers. We ended up buying another turn table so we could listen to the SVS Titan’s up in the theater room since she liked the sound of them so much. I really think SVS delivered a fantastic speaker! Thank you for your review, you have a way of describing things that really articulate what these speakers bring to the table!
Hi Caleb, I've watched your reviews for years and I think this is the first time I've ever replied. I'm still rocking my Aperion Grand Versus towers, center, and bookshelf speakers in a 5-channel setup up from 2010. I have four 18's running off a Crown 5000 amp so not too concerned with the bass aspect, but have been looking to upgrade recently and have had my eye on these SVS towers. I appreciate the great review and I'll definitely be checking them out. I hope they have center, surrounds, and Atoms to go with the beautiful towers. Keep up the great work!!
The Martin Logan 60 XTi were my last upgrade. I have lost the upgrade itch because 2 years later, they still blow my mind and what 2 speakers can do. A true F0 of 26hz in room. That's 2 completely different rooms that are different types, shapes and in 2 different houses, yet they do actually full range reproduction. Their group delay and step response is above average as well.
@@bonscott3291 why upgradtitus? Have you considered the rest of the things in the chain? After I got the MLs, I knew all my other stuff was holding them back. I replaced my basic speaker cables with some Deep Cryo Treated Mogami 3104's, got some isoacoustics Gaia ii's, Transparent Plus interconnects, then still had a feeling my pair of IOTAVX pa3's were holding them back. They just didn't have full control of them at louder volumes and sounded a bit unrefined. The impedance sweep on the 60XTi's show they are not an easy load. 90hz looks to be the most problematic as they dip down to just over 2 ohms with -45° of phase angle at that frequency. So the IOTAs were replaced with a pair of Purifi Eigentakt monoblocks, and I've been 100% happy with the sound ever since. There's nothing I would change about them.

I can’t wait to give these a courtesy listen! I have the BW 702 S2s and I’m also powering each with an Outlaw M2220. Those monoblocs definitely deserve more attention. So glad these speakers are your new reference models!
Excellent review!! Andrew Robinson sold me on the Titans but WOW as a former Trumpet player myself (stopped after highschool), the praise you gave these Pinnacle was significant! I have a pair of Atlantic Technology AT-1's and a pair of SVS SB-2000 Pros, all of which I got for a steal used (just under $1500 for all 4 pieces). I'd like to pretend these get me maybe 80% of the SVS magic, since the AT-1's H-PAS use similar philosophy in driver-cabinet isolation. I'm sure SVS's tweeter far surpases that of the AT-1 but for the last few years I've really enjoyed my setup and can't justify an upgrade at this time. But IF I were these would be at the top of my list to demo.
Thanks for the excellent review, Caleb. I'm not much of an audiophile. I like dynamics, sound stage and the things non-musicians typically care for. I trust SVS as their customer service is excellent. My entire theater is built with their products. I've had their ultra speakers and 2x PB-12 plus subs paired up for over 6 years now and I'm still happy with them. I'll be looking for some nice tower speakers to put in my living room before too long. I'll need something that is comfortable being near a wall though. Although, these will mainly be for streaming services so not really a critical listening experience.
This was fun! I consider myself an audiophile but I've never had too much "upgrade-itis". Back in 1979 the "new" Advents sounded the best to my ears (just two-way, with no ports) and I've never heard anything that I'd prefer. In 2010 I wanted to upgrade to a 5.1 system, Advent was no longer in business, and I ended up with a British Monitor Audio system, and I'll be fine for the rest of my years (Yamaha amplification, Oppo disc players). Thanks Caleb!
I've been looking at these speakers for a while now and it's good to know you seem to love them just as much as everyone else does online. Can't wait to hear them at Axpona next year. One of my first purchases after a house will likely be these speakers. Although at $5,000 a pair I wonder how much I'll have to spend on an amp and anything else I'll need hook them up to my TV. If you haven't attended Axpona before I would go next year because there will be a lot of high fidelity speakers and headphones to listen to there.
You could also look at less expensive speakers like Magnepan LRS+ ($1000) plus a subwoofer, but the amp will need to be better than the amp you would need with these SVS's. The LRS+ sound fantastic. Could always get a very good amp for a decent price on the used market. There are reputable places online to purchased used equipment.
@@nightdrive2646 how expensive of an amp do you think I need to run the ultra evolution Pinnacle? Do you think I get away with something for like $1,000 or do I really need to spend closer to $5,000?

All New Popori Acoustics Loudspeakers will be at the 2024 Capital AudioFest in Room 840, You don't want to miss this one...maybe the New Holy Grail of Speakers ?!
Instead of the equilateral triangle for speaker width to listening position, have you experimented with the 83% and 120% ratios? I see your distance for the speakers is very close to how far out into the room mine are. I think majority of people don't pull their speakers out far enougb into the room. Even smalk standmounts benefit from being pulled out into the room and away from the side walls. When I was learning this new house & room and getting my speakers placment right, an extra 5" out into the room brought the F0 from 36hz to 26hz. They now sit 4 feet into the room, I'm less than 7 ft away from them, and they're almost 8.5ft apart from one another.
Have you ever done a video on how to set up a home theater pre pro setup with separate amps? Quick search doesn't show anything. Ive got a vague idea how the whole thing works and what the components do but I don't know how to go about getting a system set up.
I want to hear the Titans. I think they would be a good balance between size and capability. I have the SVS prime pinnacles right now and love them. The old Ultras just wouldnt have worked in my room, the titans may be the next step upgrade if I were too go that right.
I’ve heard this speakers and oh boy what an amazing and no way to explain with words how good they sounds but the price tag is way too much for me 😢 but those who can afford them do yourself and your ears a favor and buy them.
OG ultra towers look SOOOOO much better than these new ones. Not even close. The shine metal bezels make a huge difference. I wish they made the og ultra towers with magnetic grills
Would love to see a comparison between these and the similarly priced Martin Logan F200. Sounds like the F200 would be easier to place via the down firing port, but would it sound better🤔
Can you share your laser device you used placing your speakers? That looked great and like it makes setting up speakers way better than the laser pointer I have.
Thanks for the review! i was waiting for this video for quite a while. I did see them in your TV review's and was really wondering what you thought of them. Good to hear you like them this much. A lot of reviewers like them others are less enthusiastic from a measurement standpoint. And said there is better out there for the money because they dont measure that flat. (Erin’s Audio Corner review for example). I currently have SVS Ultra bookshelfs, Center and Prime surround with some Jamo atmos speakers. To fix the bass i have two PC2000 sub's for far i really like the setup. But i do keep wondering if two towers would sound better. 90% of my listening is Movies/Series so probably not worth the investment in towers for the little music listening i do and the little gain to be had since the SUB's do the bass below 60Hz down to 15Hz. This year i did upgrade from a X4400h to a Cinema 30 that already made a big difference in clarity and spaciousness. But who knows in the future.... Its to bad here in the netherlands we dont have the deal's people in the USA can get and we also do not have access to the outlet. Shipping and import tax makes it more expensive.
Still waiting for my dream speakers, Qualio Audio IQ's from Poland. Two month wait while they build them and the baffle free look makes them less attractive, but the sound is supposed to be amazing. Fingers crossed!
Did Caleb like the new svs? I couldn’t tell. 😂 I know you don’t have a problem buying, or at least reviewing, made to break Chinese junk. But gotta ask many svs products are made in China. Are these?
I know you know this Caleb and I assume because of the video, you assume that hardly anyone knows how to use Audyssey or Dirac. Which is fine. You're most likely entirely right. But if you know how to use them or you have an AV Installer who knows how to use DSP competently, you can put these speakers up against a treated wall with no issue. These speakers have incredibly low distortion. Like.... VERY low distortion rivaling Kef's R-Series line of loudspeakers coming close to their Reference series. I would also recommend absorbing the ceiling reflection of this loudspeaker. If I can figure out how I can properly place 9 of these in my living room, I will be buying these for my HT when the time comes. The issue is elevating the six that will be used for surround by 15" or so and tilting down about 5-10 degrees. This tweeter has about a 10 degree sweet spot vertically where it needs to be listened to. All this info verified through Klippel.
Hi Caleb. For those of us who don't know so much about speakers, but were very impressed with your T66 review, can you please give some additional context? Do you consider these flat out better? Or in a different category? (I'm presently using 4 Mirage omnipolar satellites along with their center and sub. However, the thought occurs to upgrade to something more substantial...)
Better than Klipsch horns? Sensitivity? I'm 56 I need to hear it to believe it, never heard a bad thing about SVS, I read Sound and Vision, sold stereos back when CD's came out that was hard, always had a problem with crispy tweeters
These are on my short list (if you consider 6 short). I was thinking a down-firing port or no port would be better for my room, but there is a dead zone (null?) where, when I stand up, bass drops off. Maybe these are the cure for that.
And here I am slumming it with my ELAC Debut Reference. Just kidding, I love my setup! By the way, I don't think mentioned that the Pinnacles also come in black glossy and black oak.
I have ultra center channel and bookshelf speakers with pinnacle towers. Thought the ultra towers would be too much for ma apartment, and neighbors with my pb2000 sub. These will be on my list when I move.
Thanks for the review. Too big for my listening room but glad to see SVS keeps evolving their equipment. I auditioned the Prime Pinnacles and the bass was excellent. I have a pair of SB1000 Pros in my 2.2 setup and they sound great. I’ve also bought SVS cables and they are a good value. Better than Amazon but not crazy expensive. SVS has excellent customer service even after the sale. Highly recommend shopping SVS. Rock on!
Appreciate your work very much, also are you sure that just maybe........, just maybe your finally able to just like the superior speaker that was and always is SUPERIOR!!!
Do you use them for watching Tv and gaming? Or are speakers like these always better for music, and not so much for everything else? Are there universally awesome speakers for every use?
They may sound great but can’t get over their girth. They’re even blocking the lamp light behind it. Also I love white bookshelf speakers but white floorstanders give off like the ivory towers of Gondor.
Our newest product, the Sodium Battery Car Starter, will be released soon. We need you to send a video for testing. If you are interested, please reply, thank you!
For the time alignment "feature" to properly work by aligning the acoustic centers of the drivers, they are aligned for a certain distance and height from the speaker for the listeners ear. What's that height and distance? Also, won't work in all rooms , if you can't sit your ears at the proper distance and height.
I would agree. If the tweeter was below ear level when sitting, I would raise the speakers up to align it horizontally to your ears. The issue then is distance from the speaker to your ears and if you are the proper distance to achieve where all of the drivers, mainly tweeter and midrange drivers, come together and if it is noticeable. One issue that arises then from this physical way of time alignment, would be listening if you weren't seated, which may not be a big deal to most, but which I would think wouldn't be as big of an issue for most speakers which have the time alignment performed in the cross-over network which could sound better vertically and horizontally over a wider listening environment. As with some things though, how you perceive what you hear, may not jive with what is theoretical.
As a Focal Diablo Utopia owner I'd say I'm over upgraderitis. However these do look interesting, if I hadn't done the upgrade already. Also, I'm just not a fan of the way these look.
@@kadajawi2 yeah I never really had upgradeitis because I have always had amazing speakers and been happy with them! I also am not a big fan of their looks!!
The Bass is strong, but the Mids sound smeared like the last Ultra's. After listening to these last week at their Nebraska Furniture Mart Live show. They sounded good for Home Theater, but seriously sounded like a wet blanket was over them in the two channel room. The better SVS option would be the Prime Pinnacle towers, they have a better sound and have decent low end extension and will make your wallet happy. But if you must try these Big Boys out, test them for the 45 days that SVS will give at no cost to you for shipping. IMO...
These cost between $9,400 (direct from SVS) to $10,450 AUD In Australia. Much too much for me. The Focal aria evo x No.3 cost $7,100 AUD that's a Very substantial difference. Martin Logan Motion XT F200 Floorstanding Speakers $9,999 AUD & PERLISTEN Audio R5t Tower Speakers $14,280 AUD 😭😰
You could use these for HT and if placed properly, could have a 2-3 seat wide sweet spot where you hear a phantom center. If you need a wider sweet spot, a center channel is needed. I'm really surprised SVS didn't launch multiple center channels as well. I'm perplexed as to why I would have this monstrous pair of loudspeakers and a tiny center where more than 80% of a movie's audio comes from.
i still rock out on my Mcintosh 1969 beast 18'' horns 6'' mids 8'' and 2 24'' subs. other than tubes flawless for the life time. bought new sansui system and bla . old school is better way louder i highly doubt these so called 1000w amps my mac is clearer and twice as loud .
I’m wondering what a less expensive power option like an emotiva or monoprice would sound like? I imagine these speakers use only about 30w normally but the spikes when watching action movies scares me. Anyone have any experience using, said amps?
It all depends on your listening distance but Emotiva and Monoprice's 200 watt and greater options should provide enough power for a 2-3m listening distance. Any longer than that and you might have trouble reaching 105dbc peaks at your listening position.
@@MyFatherLoves I did a calculated spl and theoretically I can achieve 108db at reference without the Emotiva. Such is the upgraders curse, I went ahead and bought the emotiva 2 channel anyways and then I really pissed off the wife with the ultra evolutions. Have yet to check actual spl but I don’t need too. They are loud! FYI the Xpa 2 gen 3 amp stayed cool through all of Dune 2. These speakers are easy to push!
enough hyperbole to choke an elephant every single one of these people doing speaker reviews on TH-cam are wasting time because we can't hear what they sound like and as you said everything is about opinion so I guess using as much technical language and flowery speech possible is supposed to tell us what it sounds like well, it doesn't work that way sorry honestly I would rather see videos about what not to buy and why instead of what to buy very few people will get paid or get any sort of spiff for telling people don't buy this so I'm still waiting for that series of videos on speakers
@@mrpedrodrodriguezsr7628 I highly doubt Danny has spent the cash it requires to build a proper anechoic chamber. But my point remains the same. There’s already anechoic measurements done for this speaker, my friend. It’s on Erin’s Audio Corner.
We had a customer send us the bookshelf model in this series. The badly needed an upgrade. I suspect the larger ones suffer from the same issues and poor quality budget level parts used internally. Try looking inside.
The $8K price in Canada cures my “upgraditis” . Spending that much would also get me divorced 🤣.

If I could fit these beasts in my house, I would be sold.
OG ultra towers look SOOOOO much better than these new ones. Not even close. The shine metal bezels make a huge difference. I wish they made the og ultra towers with magnetic grills
Great review. Considering if it's worth partially blocking a window for stellar audio. I also love the white.
That's some gorgeous speakers you have there :)
Looking forward to a comparsion between this and the Arendal 1528 Tower 8.
Would love to see a comparison between these and the similarly priced Martin Logan F200. Sounds like the F200 would be easier to place via the down firing port, but would it sound better🤔
Yes I would love to hear that as well!!
Great review. Have you heard the Klipsch RF7III? Just curious. Not many reviews out there.
Nice review
Still waiting for my dream speakers, Qualio Audio IQ's from Poland. Two month wait while they build them and the baffle free look makes them less attractive, but the sound is supposed to be amazing. Fingers crossed!
Are you able to review the comparisons between the ultra and and ultra evolution towers, centers, and PB16 vs PB17?
I really wonder how these compare to the smaller model Andrew Robinson reviewed (beyond just extra bass). Great review!
Only difference would be bass extension and c-weighted SPL.
Did Caleb like the new svs? I couldn’t tell. 😂 I know you don’t have a problem buying, or at least reviewing, made to break Chinese junk. But gotta ask many svs products are made in China. Are these?
Still can’t afford them. Northridge duel 10s it is. ($400) Yes, you sacrifice mids.
Caleb, we need to see you review the KEF LS60. They have a direct HDMI Arc connection directly, I would love to hear your thoughts. PLEASE!
Better than Klipsch horns? Sensitivity? I'm 56 I need to hear it to believe it, never heard a bad thing about SVS, I read Sound and Vision, sold stereos back when CD's came out that was hard, always had a problem with crispy tweeters
Will a Pioneer SX-980 be good enough for these speakers?
These are on my short list (if you consider 6 short). I was thinking a down-firing port or no port would be better for my room, but there is a dead zone (null?) where, when I stand up, bass drops off. Maybe these are the cure for that.
Great review, buddy! I have an unboxing video that shows that nice packaging you mentioned.
Are the Pinnacle's a THX CERTIFIED SPEAKER 🔊 SYSTEM•••••AND I JUST MISSED IT? OR (NO)?¿? THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR INPUT CALEB!
Rock on!
Can you put links for the hardware driving the speakers? Thanks!
Appreciate your work very much, also are you sure that just maybe........, just maybe your finally able to just like the superior speaker that was and always is SUPERIOR!!!
I'd like to see a similar review from Caleb of the R-5t.
If your present speakers are at least half decent and you haven't treated your room yet, consider treating it before buying new speakers.
Caleb. why aren't your speakers on spikes or some lift. Why are they directly on the floor. No Bueno....
Do you use them for watching Tv and gaming? Or are speakers like these always better for music, and not so much for everything else? Are there universally awesome speakers for every use?
This SVS floor stand is too big for me. Thanks for sharing.
All that for only 5 grand a pair!!?!!!

Those look Amazing 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤
If you placed some Phil Harmonic Audio speakers in your reviews, you would put those back in the box.
In camera world we say GAS (Gear Acquision Syndrome). Having audio, camera and guitar as hobby is extremely expensive.
Andrew Robinson talked about the Titans putting dialogue behind the speakers front baffle. How did you find this? Good dialogue intelligebility?
They may sound great but can’t get over their girth. They’re even blocking the lamp light behind it. Also I love white bookshelf speakers but white floorstanders give off like the ivory towers of Gondor.
That last sentence of yours made me want some pearl white towers.
That’s fair. I know not everyone will love them
@@kadajawi2 yeah I never really had upgradeitis because I have always had amazing speakers and been happy with them! I also am not a big fan of their looks!!
I have that “upgraditis” 😭
Own white panel speakers 🔊
Wouldn't consider end game 😮
I’ve never been the first comment before. Lol. Keep up the great work!
How do these compare to Goldenear T66 speakers
Almost perfect loudspeakers, "Buuuuuuuuut", backfiring bassreflex ports, and / or slave bass, are a "no go" for me.
Wouldn't be a problem with DSP.
Can you review the svs ultra evolution towers? 🙏
This review is the SVS top of the line tower speakers
The Bass is strong, but the Mids sound smeared like the last Ultra's. After listening to these last week at their Nebraska Furniture Mart Live show. They sounded good for Home Theater, but seriously sounded like a wet blanket was over them in the two channel room. The better SVS option would be the Prime Pinnacle towers, they have a better sound and have decent low end extension and will make your wallet happy. But if you must try these Big Boys out, test them for the 45 days that SVS will give at no cost to you for shipping. IMO...
A setup with DSP running it will fix those issues.
@@MyFatherLoves Sounds Good, I'm just not too impressed with the speakers, but to each there own! Have a good one!👍
This vs Arendal vs Klipsch reference 8000 2 or 8060.... Which is which 😢
Wouldn't that be nice😊
These cost between $9,400 (direct from SVS) to $10,450 AUD In Australia. Much too much for me. The Focal aria evo x No.3 cost $7,100 AUD that's a Very substantial difference. Martin Logan Motion XT F200 Floorstanding Speakers $9,999 AUD & PERLISTEN Audio R5t Tower Speakers $14,280 AUD 😭😰
Tell me about it brother!
We constantly get ripped off here in aus
Are you saying you dont need a center chanel with these for movies or is that for music only?
You could use these for HT and if placed properly, could have a 2-3 seat wide sweet spot where you hear a phantom center. If you need a wider sweet spot, a center channel is needed.
I'm really surprised SVS didn't launch multiple center channels as well. I'm perplexed as to why I would have this monstrous pair of loudspeakers and a tiny center where more than 80% of a movie's audio comes from.
Seems like all the HiFi review guys agree with you Caleb
Nobody needs speakers for music only these days (except some audiophiles or so)… tv plus 5.1+ (5.1.x) at least is a normal scenario… imho
how do they compare to focal sopras 3?
Andrew Robinson was raving about the slightly smaller titans. Would be great if one or both (collab?) of you could a b them.
Check erins audio for real reviews.
I think the Arendal 1723 THX Towers are better, and slightly cheaper.
Bet you I can still upgrade the xovers 😂
These may be phenomenal speakers but require both too much room size and a bigger wallet than I have. 😂😂
Anyone know if my old school pioneer VSX-7300 receiver be sufficient to power these speakers?
Would you ditch your Surround for Movies for these Puppies?
i still rock out on my Mcintosh 1969 beast 18'' horns 6'' mids 8'' and 2 24'' subs. other than tubes flawless for the life time. bought new sansui system and bla . old school is better way louder i highly doubt these so called 1000w amps my mac is clearer and twice as loud .
Do they come in black would completely destroy my distraction of view.
@@dylanpage7436 that’s awesome! I’m glad it worked out.
enough hyperbole to choke an elephant every single one of these people doing speaker reviews on TH-cam are wasting time because we can't hear what they sound like and as you said everything is about opinion so I guess using as much technical language and flowery speech possible is supposed to tell us what it sounds like well, it doesn't work that way sorry honestly I would rather see videos about what not to buy and why instead of what to buy very few people will get paid or get any sort of spiff for telling people don't buy this so I'm still waiting for that series of videos on speakers
Send one of those to Danny of GR Research to test. If it passes Dannys test I will say they are good. The smaller siblings didn't pass the test.
The only thing you know is they'll sound flat.
@@MicheldeGroot-n8y Are you sure?
Why would you trust Danny over someone like Erin who has the tech to measure it anechoically? Check out ErinsAudioCorner review of these speakers.
@@MyFatherLoves You say then that Danny doesn't have an anechoic chamber? Are you sure?
@@mrpedrodrodriguezsr7628 I highly doubt Danny has spent the cash it requires to build a proper anechoic chamber. But my point remains the same. There’s already anechoic measurements done for this speaker, my friend. It’s on Erin’s Audio Corner.
Please just include Caleb in the thumbnail off the bat
We had a customer send us the bookshelf model in this series. The badly needed an upgrade. I suspect the larger ones suffer from the same issues and poor quality budget level parts used internally. Try looking inside.
Has anyone taken these apart and examined the crossovers etc. yet?
Danny😮?
$5000 for 2 speakers. I'm sure they sound great, but no thanks.
