    I carry the black LE version on duty. I know this video is a few months old but I thought that I should add that the black packaged LE version now also includes the Xray strip per Quick Clots website. So now I don't believe there is any difference other than the color.

      You are correct, they changed it up shortly after I posted this video.

      But why then LE costs about $10 less than green one on the NAR website if they are the same?

    Just ordered a bunch of supplies from your site. Killer price on the combat gauze!! Hopefully everything arrives before I head out this weekend!

    Love that you keep your vids short but full of useful info. BTW, Tim over at Everydaytacticalvids gave you a shoutout on his vid on rescue knives published 12 Jan.

    IMHO hemostats are fine for the few times they're needed. They're worth the space in my main bag and in my leg bag/CUF kit.
    But
    I was a 68W30 in Iraq for 9 months and flew MEDEVAC 4 of those and never used a package of hemostatic agent
    Don't get me wrong, they're critical when ya need 'em
    But don't buy a lot 'cause you won't need it a lot.
    Thanks for the vid showing the difference. That X-ray strip is a critical item for care down the line.

    Skinny Medic: do you prefer Celox Z-Fold Rapid or QuikClot Combat Gauze?

    I have heard quick clot can be really bad for you down the line. Is it true it can clot an artery years down the road and cause you to lose a limb?

    How about dates on combat gauze. I keep those with good dates on my two primary kits, but how about those out of date... are they OK in some secondary kits or just throw them away?

    • @theia1653
      @theia1653 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Keep in reserve, it's still gauze and the expiration isn't a magical day that it stops working and Quikclot is mineral based. The date is more to do with the fact that they can't guarantee the sterility of the packaging (same with Izzy bandages) and they're required to have it by the federal government, and almost everything medical related has an expiration date.

    • @jpenna1976
      @jpenna1976 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ghost Thank You for your reply. My use isn't professional use, so I try to keep a pretty recent as primary, but not worry too much if there out dated ones in other kits. Anyway sterility isn't that much of an issue, because serious injuries tend to have all kinds of foreign material in them anyways.

    Nice explanation. Have you done or could you do a video on the Combat Gauze vs. the Clotting Sponge? Sponge is half the price. Just wondering if they are similar in performance. I subbed also

    Cool deal, thanks Skinny. I cannot remember for sure, but I'd you haven't reminded nonmedical people of when to use a tourniquet, you may want to. If you have then please disregard this suggestion. Take care Skinny. n

      +SkinnyMedic ... People won't look for older videos, cause they are lazy. Your information is so important that having more than 1 video on a subject like that is totally acceptable and needed. (in my opinion) Cmax
      I really enjoy the information!
