    Being a person that has never built up a good trauma kit. This looks like it can be a good starter package. As soon as I can, I may have to pick up one of these or one of your other kitsor maybe both. I will have to see how income tax return goes.
    I do have a pretty good, what I call, booboo first aid kit for bumps, scratches, light to moderate cuts. Although I do need a better way to carry it than the plastic snap closed container that came with the kit I used to build out with.

    Hi! I was wondering if you have done a video on poisonous snake bite treatment? I took a wilderness medical class many years ago and the recommendation was to use the Sawyer Extractor? We have a little place far in the country by a river and there are many rattlesnakes in the area. I keep the Extractor very accessible for immediate use if needed, but am unsure if there is further treatment I should consider OR if the extractor is something good to use.

      +Rainbow Gardens - Take a look at this article, hopefully it will answer your questions: medicine.llu.edu/research/department-earth-and-biological-sciences/biology/faculty-research/william-k-hayes/snakebite

      Restrictor bands placed above and below the bite are what is taught now (like the rubber bands used when you get your blood drawn), keep patient calm, no water or ice on injury, rapid transport. Attempting to remove venom will not hurt anything but I would focus on advanced care.

      +Rainbow Gardens Sorry I missed your comment. I have seen those extractors but I have never used one. We teach to put a compression bandaged on, not a TQ.

    Very nice kit! Have you thought of having 2 pairs of gloves in the kit? One pair could be for you and another pair for someone that could help you or for a sucking chest wound. That's why I have 2 pairs in my kits.

    • @SMiller5488
      @SMiller5488 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oddly enough you will find gloves are not very high on your list when seconds count.

    • @Dave-ji1hv
      @Dave-ji1hv 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well if you are working with someone you don't know that is bleeding then I think it is pretty important especially if you are going to be working with more than one person to prevent cross contamination like in a MCI. Every EMT will tell you that gloves are the first thing you do when going on scene. Eventually it just becomes a habit.

    excellent kit; maybe at a facemask? Oh I was thinking, what I would add is a decompression needle (pen). That would make it complete for me. Great work, as always bro! An absolute must-have for the more experienced preppers and/or first responders.

    • @Docprepper
      @Docprepper 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Decompression needles would be nice for us advanced first responders, but that’s not even within the scope of an EMT. Definitely not something untrained civilians or even military should be using. You could easily kill a pt.
      Frankly, if you’re trained to decompress the pleura, you will have access to the decompression needles. Buy them yourself. Those that aren’t trained and this procedure isn’t within their scope should not be doing this. The same goes for cricothyroidotomies or even IVs. Not trained or within your scope = not for you.

    I am looking for a place to learn/train to deal with gunshot/knife wound trauma. Do you offer this on your site? or know where this can be acquired in communities around the country... Red Cross, Jr. colleges, hospitals, fire depts. etc. I am in Odessa,Texas. Hunters/campers have told me that if bitten by rattle snakes shock yourself with a stun gun to stop spread of the venom.
