I'm 55 years old and was diagnosed with myotonia congenita when was 34. At last an explanation for all the stiffness and paralysis. Could I actually have myotonic dystrophy? I feel very unfit, I blink an awful lot (which I've never had explained or diagnosed) and I have to make an effort even to smile i.e. I think I'm smiling and I'm not. My face feels droopy, everything feels droopy, and I actually hate moving. I can't lift myself straight up from a bed. Can't sleep on my back because I get a strange feeling in my chest (think 'restless legs' in the heart area X 100). I'm a sloth and I hate it.
