Thank you very much for your modifications videos! I am old time electronic hobbyist but now in my sixties i am learning so much about new soldering technology from you! Lot to learn about SMD. Spasibo!
If you look closely to the right of the FM part were the capacitor was replaced. On the mod to the left of the oscillator it’s marked with an R and you can see they have a variable tuner resistor pod in place. Maybe to tune it better? But the simpleton instruction picture just says to put a jumper in that area.
@15:10 and the coax wire needs to be on the other side against the plastic or it will hit the ribbon cable. But I can’t say for sure my self yet, still waiting for this exact part and version of the mod that I ordered two days ago. I dont do many videos myself these days. But if you want some pics or videos just reach out to me and I’ll do some when I install this version.
I finally got the board and installed it in a new radio. I didn't change the capacitor or the supplied inductor - It's just for the FM broadcast FMI pin #6 of the new Si4732 radio chip and FM audio is too loud and distorted to listen to anyways. I didn't remove the capacitor and inductor that went to the old 8 pin FM chip input pin 6. The length of RF cable supplied is perfect without cutting it to have the antenna connector mounted on the chassis and then plugged into the circuit board. Overall, it was an easier install than the previous version boards.
@@codernov I just tested it using a proper 50 ohm antenna splitter and variable attenuator on my inverted V antenna and the same signal off air split to the Quansheng and my Icom IC-735 and they were performing the same or even better.... I'm very pleased. Not impressed with the BFO step performance though. Takes too long.
I'm learning towards the single antenna mod. I have not found a youtube showing any difference between the a dedicated antenna for HF. The choke that is installed under the display to the far side along the side of the radio, is that there to allow HF on the same antenna port as the VHF/UHF? Of all the si4732 mods for single antenna, is there one any easier than the other for installation?
Check out DS5WIS's channel for such tests for now. Next I'll be doing ver 2 without preamp with single antenna, specifically for testing. Then testing, and then after testing dual antenna. But you'll have to wait for it, I'm kinda over the top of my head right now, things just coming up.
I have a Quansheng UV-5R + and a 2.5 version mod kit. Could you make a video of that model being upgraded? Or, is it the same as the K5 "under the hood" ?
Same thing. But you might encounter a problem, someone reported that si chip interferes with speaker a little bit. You will have to see. You could grind the chip a little bit from the top if that happens.
@@codernov If I watched it correctly, with amplifier was worst than no amplifier on 7.496MHz station ? If that is the case, why would the 2 antenna system be better for HF?
@@n1kkri Perhaps because inside city there is a lot of crap on the air like FM broadcast stations, etc, which give noise. So inside city best without HF amp. More testing needs to be done outside city, where there is no radio noise. My city is looooongest in the world, Sochi yo, so for me it's testing done in mountains. Why 2 antenna or discrete antenna is better? Because you don't get anything else on input, just antenna + filter on Si4732 board.

@@codernov Has anyone received that version yet? I ordered one a week ago and it has yet to ship . Ordered a radio at the same time and just got it. I placed order from another vendor and it says shipping in 9 days! WTF?

Fully functional is a stretch. To listen to FM radio you need a special firmware, either CEC_0.51 or Reborn_WFM_SI_SSB. Other than that, everything is functional.

R = reset. It goes to RST pin.

Coax on the side of 3.1 mil jack, and you glue it, just like in latest video
great video. love your style as well as the content itself
Any PDF for instruction for separate antenna setup? confused from many videos. Thanks

Thank you for this version's review

И эту заказал ! хотя 2.0 еще не пришла :)
Я не буду эту заказывать. Мне фильтры не понравились. Подожду месяц второй, может ещё что-то появится.
Погляди тест th-cam.com/users/shortsaH7C9a3aVYY
Would you say after this mod, the radio performance on HF is as good as some of the portables under $100

Will this work for the k6?
k5, 6, 99, whatever, they all the same only different plastics.
Why don’t you spec your own mod kit. Source it in china and sell it
