On a side note: I *LOVE* seeing animal relationships like this, it's so unique and interesting to see them interact in such a cooperative manner, when they live in such a violent savage environment.
Wow pillars and even a garden??? Lol For being a blind construction worker, those pistol shrimp sure do build some nice cribs!! No wonder why the goby's are always crashing at their pads....
I feel like this is a sitcom type relationship. The neat freak shrimp constantly cleaning the house while the lazy goby messes things up. He eats and the sand filters _right_ into that spot Mr. Shrimp just cleaned! But Mr.Shrimp knows that whenever he's in trouble his pal, Goby Maguire, will have his back.
I was diving at Twins in Koh Tao today. First time diving. I was fascinated by their relationship! I kept seeing these fish guarding the hole and the shrimp would try and come out but the fish would force it back in. I had to learn more. Thank you for your video :)
Interesting how the Pistol shrimp is almost blind but it's relative, the Mantis shrimp has the best eyes in the animal kingdom (according to the Smithsonian channel)
AWSOME!! I love those shrimps! The image quality is great! Good view of the shrimp's antenas in contact with the goby! Tragic end! Thx for this AWSOME documentary!
Great video! Very informative. I just got a pistol shrimp for my yellow goby and they became friends within a few minutes. The shrimp dug out some gravel and they both in there now, just like your video!
KaennC Sure I do. A symbiotic relationship between two organisms means each depends entirely upon the other for survival. Another word for this is "mutualism". Not exactly the same thing, but close. In the case of my relationship with the trout, I ensure its survival by sending it to the Big Trout Stream in the Sky in which it will happily swim for all eternity and it ensures my survival by providing me with nutritious calories and one more reason to drink another cold beer.
I absolutely love this. I have a saltwater aquarium and I have a female yellow watchman Goby and a peppermint shrimp paired up in the burrows the shrimp made with his endless burrowing. So cool that even other shrimps can give them support.
I loved it. Very professional too. You must be a very patient man to get such relaxed gobies in such great detail. It is the only footage I've seen on the internet showing the watchman gobies in their wild habitat. (I noticed some chalk gobies in there too, It would be interesting to find if they take any interest in forming a relation with the pistol shrimp too. In captivity I've never seen them doing so.) As a reef aquarium enthusiast, I can only note that these fish were not meant to live in full blown reefs, living in the nature in sandy with coral rubble areas. Paradoxically, the open space is giving them safety, as nothing can approach unnoticed. Personally I think it's evolution, but even if it's design, it's still very fascinating.
Amazing vid however recent study shows pistol shrimp aren’t blind and can see just as well as other shrimp! The goby can see slightly better tho. It’s still quite unknown why they pair up however it’s a beautiful little relationship
This is just spongebob and finding nemo and finding dory combined with the power of the narrorator and music of spongebob and the real life version of finding nemo and finding dory this is THE ODD COUPLE! XD
just got the couple; I remain apprehensive; too much of a delicate dance deep in the ocean. I often think some fish were not created to sit in someone's living room. I will try. The store claims it is possible. I will report back.
It's also worth mentioning that if the blind shrimp somehow walks away from the nest, the Gobi will find it, and guide it back home, safe and sound :3
Unless the goby is a cunt
the gobi is the SHRIMP'S GUIDE DOG!!!! amazing
@@mokusei2002 lol
@@mokusei2002 lmao
That's nice
Goby Fish be like-
:[
All the time, I love it.
( : [ ::::::::
The goby fishes that leaves the shrimps are fake friends.
Well they better not crawl back to the shrimp now because they finna get gunned down lmao
On a side note: I *LOVE* seeing animal relationships like this, it's so unique and interesting to see them interact in such a cooperative manner, when they live in such a violent savage environment.

cause goby fishes are stupid
🤣🤣🤣@@mariannec2322
The shrimp farms algae? EVOLUTION FROM HUNTING AND GATHERING TO AGRICULTURE!
Ants farm too!
I didn't realize how low budget this was until the very end. Really well done. It was entertaining and informative! I enjoyed the quality footage too.
I feel like this is a sitcom type relationship.

Jacob Melanson I can picture that now...Imagine someone creating a cartoon out of that idea. xD
All we need is a title and a pilot episode
Exactly, until the unexpected tragic twist at the end...
Oscar and Felix. The Odd Couple: fish edition
Definitely a Seinfeld episode lol
Goby why would you leave a blind friend alone at home ;_;
'Cause he's a party-animal that only thinks of himself
assmane999 some of them think of themselves but I really like the ones who want to help the shrimps
Now he will have fight intruders until family comes home from vacation
Shrimp:(●´ω`●)
IllyasvielVonEinzbern no one adked
I never knew animals have such friendship like this knowing that they're different species, nature is truly impressive
humans and dogs
im here thinking on why didnt they include this pair in the movie "finding nemo" it would be like two bros like goshhh wasted opportunity! ARGH
“name a more iconic duo”
“I’ll wait”
4:26 top anime betrayals
Impressive work for a one man production!
Man this was really well done. Great use of music and good narraration!
This is incredible! Such excellent filming and narration, and it was fun to learn about the goby and pistol shrimp!
ending was the saddest shit ive seen. xD
Unusual symbiotic relationship. Superb footage and lovely plain explanation. Learn something everyday. TQ

Came to watch this video after seeing them at the same dive site. How cool!
Interesting how the Pistol shrimp is almost blind but it's relative, the Mantis shrimp has the best eyes in the animal kingdom (according to the Smithsonian channel)
mantis shrimp is not technically a shrimp
The music and the great video made this shrimp look even more adorable as he shoveled sand away.
AWSOME!! I love those shrimps! The image quality is great! Good view of the shrimp's antenas in contact with the goby! Tragic end!
Thx for this AWSOME documentary!
seen this so many times and i'm still always amazed how to different animals actually depend on one another instead of their own kind.. lol.
Great video! Very informative. I just got a pistol shrimp for my yellow goby and they became friends within a few minutes. The shrimp dug out some gravel and they both in there now, just like your video!

We watched a video about this at school and I thought it was really cute so I had to look it up
Very interesting!! This video really deserves millions of views & likes. So well put & informing.
Wow, how many gallons is that aquarium?
Y'all should see the inside of the pistol shrimp tunnels. I would break up old sea shells and the pistol shrimp with use it for the construction.
Do one about the jellyfish and fish that have a symbiotic relationship.
I have a symbiotic relationship with rainbow trout...
I watch closely as they are frying in the skillet, and then I eat them...
Dumbass
I don't think "symbiotic" means what you think it means.

Yo mama...
Ahhh... Mutualism at it's finest
i got these two in my reef aquarium so cool to watch em
Nice video! I felt so sad for that poor shrimp with the flaky friend :(
Nice video Omar!
Press F to pay respects to the fallen Pistol Shrimp. :'c

Ashole goby fish!!! :'(
i want more of stuff like this
I'm getting some amusing Tehol/Bugg vibes from these two. Or perhaps Mappo/Icarium or Ceda Kuru Qan/Brys Beddict. Either way these two are adorable.
wow this is wonderful
At 4:21 the LA Beast's theme music starts playing!!
Is that skyrim music??
This is the most adorable thing I have seen for While
what if one of them wants to bring someone home?
Pistol shrimp can fire water from their claws right? It shouldn't be so helpless right?
HD!
Nature and evolution at its finest. If I was a pistol shrimp I'd totally dig a goby-buddy.
4:26 Boooo the villain boooooooooo. So ominous and fightful looking in the shadows. He has come to ruin the lives of this dynamic duo.
Equally reckless friend haha
Im watching this on a Friday morning at home so I can pass my science test🙏
