The real king of cantwitty. If he went out of died way too young. He would have over a hundred and number one hits right now, if he did not die in nineteen ninety three
There is a REASON why we in America Call him KING George.... He's been at this for decades and his mark can be seen all over country music he's basically a living legend
He's actually a roper. Has an awesome enclosed arena and hosts roping events etc. He don't bother with coolers of beer, rolls up an arena door and there's a truck full of beer at the door. Like from the distributor.
Adam, you might not know this, but American country music is rooted in Irish music. Irish immigrants moved into Appalachia, and over time their Irish music gradually evolved into what became known as mountain music, old timey music, and bluegrass. When recorded music was first developed, some people out of Nashville went into the mountains started recording all these family bands and took the recordings back to Nashville to print, press, and sell as “country music”. For a while, there was also a western movement in country music (country and western), but the Nashville music scene pretty much shut it down so Nashville could be the undisputed home of country music. But anyway, it’s all rooted in Irish music…not to say there aren’t other outside influences that helped shape country music, but the root of it comes from Ireland.
I would say at least half of the credit for country music's success goes toward Black Americans, who also pioneered related genres such as blues, jazz, rock, etc and have had their work stolen by white musicians for the entirety of US history (not all of them of course, but certainly very many).
@@mels607 Sure, a lot of black music heavily influenced country music. But the roots, the origins of country music are in traditional Irish music. I’m not talking about outside influences, I’m talking about the origin of country music.
Most Irish influences in country music are actually Ulster-Scots or “Scotch-Irish.” The Scotch-Irish are descended from settlers originating primary from the Scottish Lowlands and Northern England who colonized Northern Ireland in the early 17th century.
@@mels607I wouldn’t say half. A good chunk of it yes, but not half. Country music is primarily descended from folk traditions of the British Isles, with varying degrees of German, Cajun/French, Mexican, Creole, and Hawaiian influences as well. AAs are not the only ones with a rich musical heritage.
George Strait has a vacation home in the beach side town in from. His yard butts up against my in law’s best friend’s yard. Whenever he’s down on July 4th he and his wife come over for barbecue and we all watch the fireworks. George is a really nice, down to earth guy.
I grew up in the 70s and early 80s in central Arkansas not far from Texas. This music reminds me of my childhood. I am happy to see that you, at your young age, like this. My sons are 21/29/30 years old and they like this too.
I ❤ George... im 45 .. my mom had a huge crush on him.. so we seen him live at the Houston rodeo every year.. he just sits on a stool and sings.. he had so many "leaving songs " but had been married to the same woman his entire life.
George has a boat load of great tunes... Try "All my Ex's Live in Texas" off the Oceanfront Property album! He played a singer named Dusty in a movie as well....
ADAM!!!! Thank you for reacting to this song. I live in Amarillo and I hope you can come visit the city sometime. It's considered the West Texas Panhandle, , even though Amarillo is North of everything. LOL Texas is a huge state. Anyhow, thanks for the reaction and I love your channel. :)
I might have some details wrong, but I'm pretty sure George Straight was a rodeo cowboy before he became famous for singing, mostly bronc (horse) riding. He's referring to be being in Amarillo, TX in time to register for a rodeo, which usually has to be done a day or so before the big show. You'd like I Can Still make Cheyenne, also sung by George Straight. I'd love to see you react to both bronc and bull riding videos!
I think you should check out the late Chris LeDoux. He was a rodeo cowboy who turned Country Music Singer. Sadly he passed away of cancer in 2004 but had a slew of hits including “Cadillac Ranch”, “Hooked On An 8 Second Ride”, “Whatcha Gonna Do with a Cowboy”, and his best song (IMO) "This Cowboy’s Hat”.
I moved to Amarillo the first time right before this song came out. So it reminds me of Amarillo in a snow storm and being so damned cold that when you reached into the cooler at a gas station the cans of Coke felt warm. Damn near froze to death and got pneumonia.
Footage from rodeos. Looks like a lot from the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. I know the parade with the wagons is because we used to ride in it every year after traveling by wagon and/or horseback from Reynosa (Mexican border) to Houston
Hey Adam, thought you’d like to know that bluegrass music, which is closely related to country music and definitely influenced country music, comes from Ireland and Scotland. A lot of immigrants from there settled in the Appalachian region and brought their traditional music with them. Over time it evolved into bluegrass.
George Strait “Carrying Your Love with Me” is awesome! A little more fun song “The Fireman” or “Every Little Honky Tonk Bar”. George Strait has over 60 number one hits! You just can’t go wrong with King George! Another fantastic country artist is Alan Jackson “It’s Five O’clock Somewhere” featuring Jimmy Buffet is a lots of fun, “Good Time”, “Summertime Blues” “Chattahoochee”. More touching songs by Alan Jackson “Remember When”, “Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning (that September day) about 9/11 attacks.
I don't think this is him riding in the video. But he is still doing Rodeo I'm Oklahoma. He ropes and rides. My Niece and her family live there and have done quite a few Rodeos with him. This is an older song. But he just keeps getting better ❤
Adam, George Straight is one of those guys in country music who when you hear him sing you realize why he’s a legend. It’s why he’s one of my favorite artists of all time.
Need to listen to The Dance by Garth Brooks. Absolutely beautiful song. Since you did listen to George Strait, listen to his Check Yes or No. I always loved the song but I now associate with ,y cousin who passed away in 2007. Him and his wife met in elementary school so the song was appropriate at his funeral
Adam, if you want to do some music, I would suggest the Righteous Brothers. They would have started out in the 50's (my time). They're a duo made up of Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield. Their music was known as blue-eyed soul. They are really fantastic. No autotune, no redos, just straight singing. I also love me some good old country music.
Adam you need to check out Roy Clark playing a song called "Malaguena". He was a country star back in the 1970's and later. He was a phenomenal guitar player and a major country artist. TH-cam has lots of his music.
I love king George I seen him at one of his very last concerts and he is amazing I wish he would continue his concerts for more years but he is getting old and he is amazing
George Strait is the absolute best. I recommend you do a deep dive into his music. He's an absolute legend. And I'm proud to say he's from my home state of Texas.
Thanks for reacting to my favorite country artist. George Strait has a ranch in Boerne, Texas, outside of San Antonio. I saw George Strait play the Houston Rodeo several times.
I grew up in the Rocky mountains in the 90’s. My father and I were both cowboys and bull riders. Also Army service men and let me tell ya George is the GOAT!
You should definitely check out I Can Still Make Cheyenne, Check Yes or No and Run from George Strait. He’s not called the King of Country music for no reason!
I love George Strait, I have been to a few of his concerts. Some of my favorites… Check Yes or No The Chair I Cross My Heart Easy Come, Easy Go Fool Hearted Memory Love Without End Amen All My Exes Live In Texas
There is bareback bronc riding, saddle bronc riding and bull riding. George is referred to as the King of Country. Check out "You Can't Make a Heart Love Somebody", "All My Exes Live in Texas", the list goes on and on.. George competed in team roping.
Listen to ' You look so good in love' but honestly He has so many great songs. Also maybe play George Jones ' He stopped loving her today' There really is thousands of great country songs. I remember way back when Wal-Mart was the first to use Bar codes, and they were surprised to learn that country music was outselling Rock, Hip hop, Classical and all other types of music combined! Country is great, but i also love other kinds of music too. Country just hits home and tells wonderful human stories. It all comes from the early Irish, Scots, Germans, and African people who first settled in the Appalachian mountains, but really almost all modern music derives from that. It just went different ways as the centuries passed.
I lived and worked in Amarillo for about 20 years. My children were both born in Amarillo. I went to see George Strait many years ago while in Amarillo. He was... is hot.
Love this song George has a special voice, you must check out I cross my heart, that's my favorite of all time 💞💞Thank you Adam for your great reaction and a love your voice to. Hugs from Norway🫂🫂
Ohhhhh....LIVE GEORGE'S DULCET TONES!! SO GOOOOD!!! ❤❤ Another George: George Jones....you oughta listen to: He Stopped Loving Her Today....would love to see you do more music OR you'd be GREAT to watch at movie reactions, Adam!! HUGS FROM TEXAS!! ❤❤

LeAnn Womack. I hope you dance is a really good song. Thanks for such great reactions!
Trace Adkins - Arlington
He's called King George because he had 60+ Number One hits over a very long career, this was one of his first big hits.
The real king of cantwitty. If he went out of died way too young. He would have over a hundred and number one hits right now, if he did not die in nineteen ninety three
George Strait is considered royalty in Texas.
*In all of the South.
Charlie Daniel's Band "Devil Went Down to Georgia"
You haven’t done Charlie Daniels Band, The Devil Went Down to Georgia?
You’re fallin’ behind, m’lad!
King George!!! The best of the best!!!❤
Tim McGraw-Don't Take the Girl and George Jones - He Stopped Loving Her Today. Two of the most moving country songs ever written.
He was not a bronc rider, he is actually a roper. This song is about cowboys on the rodeo road!
There is a REASON why we in America Call him KING George.... He's been at this for decades and his mark can be seen all over country music he's basically a living legend
Exactly spot on. His music, even back then, is in my opinion better than a lot of country music songs being played today.
He's actually a roper. Has an awesome enclosed arena and hosts roping events etc. He don't bother with coolers of beer, rolls up an arena door and there's a truck full of beer at the door. Like from the distributor.

Roses are Red,
Violets are Blue,
Whenever I listen to George Strait
My neighbors hear it too

George Strait is awesome. That was a bucking bronco.
This is in my top 15 Country songs of all time. That fiddle playing is so perfect.
Can't go wrong with Reba MacIntyre. "Fancy" or "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia " are classic Reba.❤

George Strait was in a movie?@@amandamiddleton4445
George Strait = King of country. nuff said.
I saw him in concert about a month ago - he still sounds the same, 40 years later. Man is a legend.
Thank you!!! I love George Strait!
He's the most respected man in all of country music!
John Denver, singing Take me home, country roads. He’s awesome and considered a combination of folk and country.
This song gives me chills, love it !!
