Ordered this guy off eBay recently and I'm waiting for him to arrive in the mail. You might be pleased to know there is actually a white and black repaint of this toy that's meant to resemble the original G1 toy. The train alt-mode is black.
Train mode weapon storage... top of train where shoulders are, there are tabs on the shoulders that go into slots on the weapon. Can only hold 1, but its better than none, and looks pretty good nice and center on top of the train.
This easily beats all the other Astro trains including 3P MP currently out. Amazing! Only FT Thomas will beat this but $220 vs $35 so it is kinda expected.
@@andreyofdoom cool. yeah i used to collect MPs and MPMs but since last year they've just gotten too expensive for my budget and i couldn't afford to collect them anymore. when i reallized i couldn't complete the line, i decided to get rid and sell off all my MP and MPM figures :'(
@@chefatron sorry to hear that but you did the right thing. Better to get rid of them otherwise you'll keep wanting the rest. Could just keep the big favorites at the least
yeah definitely! it's interesting that MFT started out oversizing the DX9 war in pocket figures, before they started doing their own molds like this one. perhaps, now, another third party company will create oversized KO MFT figures that were oversized KO DX9 figures (mindblown)
If I had the budget I would get him 3 times, same thing for the announced Blitzwing and Octane if they make him. Would be nice for display to have a triple set of each triple changer.
I don't know why they're still considered "Legends" size, since these 3rd Party offerings have grown to "Deluxe" size, and they have more engineering & plastic.
they're legends scale, not size. it means "regular" bots(deluxe class in generations) are at legends class size. characters like megatron, shockwave, and astrotrain are typically portrayed as voyager class(or leader with accessories), which is 1 size up from deluxe. so in legends scale they get 1 size up from the "regular" legends size, which is (old)commander or deluxe size. and I think mft has always done their figures half a class size bigger than other manufacturers, which is especially noticeable with their KO's of other 3rd parties.(like their galvatron, scourge, and cyclonus) and hasbro has also handled multiple legends class sizes. their movie legends(legion) are a bit smaller than generations legends.

In Space Shuttle mode, it's ~1/280 scale. I've collected since the 1980s, and worked as a CAD drafter for 30 years. So I know about scale. I was merely comparing the Hasbro 3-step, lightweight, "Legends" figures vs the 3rd Party offerings. Astrotrain was "Deluxe" from G1 to Generations/Henkei until Titans Return & now Earthrise. Oh, forgot to mention "Cyberverse" class, which is in-between Legends & Deluxe.
@@chefatron Oh, don't get me started on the widely used term, "7 inch scale action figures." It should be "7 inch tall (or size) action figure". If your average hero character is 6 feet tall, then it's about 1/10 scale. 3.75" tall figures are about 1/19 scale.

I wish someone would oversize the Mech Fans Toys figures to fit the generations size class, like a 7- 8 inch version of Iron Sky would be sweet.
