I have the reissue, and can confirm that FT has changed the screws from threaded ones to non-threaded ones (beginning at 25:10). It makes moving those pieces so much easier.

You said "pull the wings out" when going from shuttle to train, and I realized you have to push the wings in to keep 'em tabbed. The instructions for the ko of this are less than worthless.
you dont need to flex the plastic on his backpack, there's a part on his backpack that allows it to slide in and down to lock it in, you need to do it before you tab his head in, angle the 2 parts beside his head inwards and put the backpack in at an angle then close it all at once (kind of hard to explain)
I noticed something. At 25:39 when he was talking about those panels on the midsection of the body, the brackets they're on are backwards. The right one has an L and the left has an R
Must say I am impressed how they were able to engineer linking the wheels like that so that they all connect and roll in sync like that!! Hope you're recovering from your injury, EmGo! Not too many reviewers would willingly injure themselves trying to transform a stubborn joint like that. :-)
FT hits that perfect sweet spot between Cartoon Accuracy and Realistic Detail that the official Takara MPs used to have, and I love them for it. If the price for this guy hadn't jumped into the stratosphere right after he dropped I'd pick him up, but alas. And the flight stand transforms too, that's all manner of awesome.
People always say triple changers can never look good in all modes, it is a thing that is just something we have to deal with. I think this figure shows us that it can be done.

Wouldn’t fit better for Diesel 10 to be a Dicepticon rather than Thomas. Diesel 10 wanted Sodor’s steam engines all scrapped in Thomas and the Magic Railroad by destroying Lady to wipe the Magic Railroad from existence.
Just got the FT-44US this week. I was torn between that and the FT-44JP, but I thought the MHZ Transport Car I had picked up on sale looked better with FT-44US.
I still think fans toys missed a marketing move in not naming their Springer "Jerry". Since he and Astrotrain are somewhat counterparts. Tom and Jerry. Thomas the tank engine. Jerry Springer. It all just fits to me

This is the most cartoon-accurate Astrotrain I've seen so far, and it looks awesome.
