didn't he already do that? He had a series in which he bought and tried out third party controllers. He tested those controllers in practice before going online to netplay. I can't find the series or most of the videos of the series anymore. Did he delete them? This video seems to be the only one in the series left.
what i believe about the perfect 1's when checking the analog stick calibration is that the "analog" signals coming out of the controller is bring rounded and converted into digital signals. The dash-backing issue with that control may also refer to the very small opposite input being rounded to 0, or it just has a larger deadzone than a regular controller.
oh yes pleaseee dont buy that. i cannot imagine how unresponsive it would be you can definitely find official wavebirds for less than that (Used, in good condition)
in the next episode, you should put the control stick onto a normal gamecube controller to see if it is useable, also i would love to see you smash the controller at the end of the video
Love the concept! Here's an idea for your rating system: Just say if it is recommended or not. And if you do not recommend it, you just end the video by destroying the controller, like by smashing it with a hammer. That'd be neat
i remember a used buy and sell game store was trying to sell me these new instead of their used official controllers. saying it would last years and some bs lol
itll prob mess up your inputs when done by accident lol as far as legality goes, i cant imagine people caring that your controller allows you to do the slowest multishines in the world but technically still illegal i believe
0:53 Weird... I had a weird dream about a different Gamecube controller. All the face buttons were shapped differently. I think the X or Y button's curve was in the opposite direction, but the B button was oddly shaped, extrem long! Longer than usual, and now compared to this...
Damn just wanna say I love the battery scissors comparison... makes my heart swell to see this isn't some bs... maybe we'll all see someday that the only options we have aren't for liberty or life, society or exile(which is currently death or survival through personal change ; but more on a level of, "my soul literally burns 4 u, but I know ur thoughts r just as important as mine... it's the same thing as this movement towards let it be let it beeeee blah blah blah... I feel like the world, in its youth(call it 4k or a trillion years of knowledge) is breaking itself on the rocks. Not bc of some intrinsic value of human life but bc it keeps us at a stage where the world can't move on. Mr king. Why do we keep moving back to the chains our fathers made for us? Is it bc as soon as we break them there's something new to collide with? Seriously look at yourself and decide that the point where u want to resist is the point that u want to fight......... bc that isn't the point where u want to fight mentally or physically, but the point where ur fighting for survival.... it supersedes anything till the point ur married which is the greatest decision of ur life
Surprised you didn't mention it says "Another Fine Yobo Product" under the barcode. Only reason one would have to buy this is for the looks. Also their other controller that looks like the official controller, but says Yobo on it, I got a sealed orange one for cheap a while back (like $10 including shipping), haven't used it on any games, but it feels terrible. Only bought it out of curiosity and for the looks (wonder how the orange compares to a real spice orange controller, I don't have one of those yet unfortunately).
asdhbfjsahdbf I cant believe I didnt notice that till now hahaha. good thing I didnt see it though, would probably have not been able to record from laughing too hard
I bought a Yobo N64 controller. The control stick doesn't work correctly, and the A and B buttons are big. zenith SSBM, maybe you can do a video on that controller.
Hey, the netplay thing looks cool... I always wanted to play Project M locally, but that's dead now.. around that time, I was in late high school and my brother was in the Army. I also didn't have PM until maybe 2017 when I bought a modded Wii from eBay. Melee was my first SSB game. Jeapie and n0ne 💓 btw
Your reviews are so good! Can you PLZ do a review of the Hyperkin ProCube Controller?! I wanted to buy it for Smash and other games but its a 3rd party controller. So, yeah... Plzzzzzzzz!
The hyperkin is actually a good controller however the analog stick is tall so if you are used to nunchuck sticks you’ll get used to it. The bumpers click and the triggers feel weird but I got used to it. I would recommend it however smash ultimate is coming out soon so it depends if are still going to get it
Mine broke the same day I got it 4 years ago. The joystick wouldn't register. It's comfortable and has a long cable so you can sit further away but its has problems with the internals.
Not sure if you knew this but the Start and B buttons were copied from the original prototype Gamecube Controller "look up Assemblergames's video" it looks very identical to that.
I used a third party controller for about 3 years before realising it was third party after I finally got a second one and noticed that it had Nintendo written on the back of the C-stick. The sound was the only real difference that I noticed
Man this brings me back when I had friends over, third party controllers everywhere and everyone had stick drift. Good vid and also my stick for my gamecube controller has plastic on it that wont come off, is there a way to remove it from what you may know? (I can link a image if your confused on what I mean) also the sticks feel alright? (Because I might just buy one to get stick parts and I found em cheap at gamestop for 9 bucks)
I wish you could open it up, finding a way to swap out the parts for official ones could be cool because of the design but the tiny buttons and stuff might screw it up
How do I check the controller values on screen on dolphin? (8:50) Im going to buy a new controller and I want to check out the analog values when I get it
5:29 and 8:58 I'm pretty sure I know what that means. Certain cheap 3rd party controllers do that, they don't have conventional analog stick as in they only register 8 way axis, not 360 way axis. You'll notice that your cursor always goes exactly horizontal, exactly vertical or exactly diagonal but never in between those axes. That's usually a dead giveaway that it's a knock off.
I got one of these and wanted to test it before I got the av cable ( so I could use my GameCube but couldn’t see anything) the light did nothing and I was scared. Well now I know that the light really has no purpose. Thanks for un-confusing me!
by angling the control stick to a SPECIFIC analogue value while shielding on a platform it allows you to drop through it without having to go through any squat animation and act out of it right away. Nintendo controllers vary which analogue values its SW and SE gates can reach due to inconsistent production. heres a better written article: www.ssbwiki.com/Shield_platform_dropping also nothing wrong with it, its just laughably slow. also 'turbo' features on controllers are banned to my knowledge in tournament
You can still open it by using a bigger screwdriver, and if it's striped beyond a screwdriver's ability you could drill the screw out. Basically get a bit that is the same size as the thin part of the screw (not the size of the head) and you end up drilling off the head freeing the screw. I've opened countless things that were "stripped" just remember not to put the bad screw back in
any chance there are other places to get rarer controllers other than ebay, I might buy a Emerald blue and I'm hella tempted to get the Char or even a symphonic green if one pops up somewhere
I'm looking for a decent 3rd party controller because an original controller where i live is quite expensive, to say the least. So, anyone has seen one that has good durability and works with a Wii? Oh and if anyone is looking for a good controller to use on PC or Wii with Nintendon't i heartily recommend using the Logitech Dual Action or F310, both are amazingly good controllers for their cheap price. (And are comparable to even first party Xbox/Playstation/Gamecube controllers)
I would recommend the "Hori Pad Cube" (Its what it says on the back - Japan only release) as the only good 3rd party controller I have ever used. I made a video on it if you want to see what it looks like. Not too expensive on ebay if you are lucky enough to find a decent listing. Otherwise every other one has so bad I cant recommend them in any context
I still have my first gamecube controller (original indigo), however, when I was a small child I chewed the rubber off the analog stick. I also have 3 of these yobo's. Now, the indigo controller works flawlessly after so many long years of abuse, the yobos barely lasted a few months. Trying to find a way to fix the analog stick grip, should I replace the stick with one from the yobo? (if it fits)
an easier option may be getting one off a generic knockoff controller since those arnt bad. you can find them sometimes for like $5. There are also cheap button sets on ebay that include control sticks and c sticks in them arnt half bad! if you arnt incredibly picky on feel those would work great since they are so cheap and the only real difference is they feel 'flatter' on the top somewhat. (I also made a video on these!) (if you need original sticks you can always buy an original controller (new or used - sometimes you can find a broken 'for parts' controller on ebay and buy that just to replace the stick with a real one for cheap)
Lmao. Had no idea there was a video dedicated to this piece of crap sitting in my lap with an F'd up analog... It's one of the most clunky controllers I ever had.. similar to how PS2 controllers come from factory Mine has a round start button, though. Actually the whole thing is the same shape as the authentic. Just a different logo. I prefer the authentic Wii U Pro controller over the one I have. The analogs on aftermarket ones are literally a little looser.... Yeah, this is garbage. I'll get an authentic one. My first GC was the Indigo.. new. (I'd trade my platinum for an Indigo anyday) although this is the one that came with the Zelda collector's disc bundle. The indigo is far more sentimental 💗💗💗 Great video, my fellow Asian man
When I went to the retro gaming store nearby for a gamecube controller, all they had was this. My main complaint is the crappy analog stick which doesn't work anymore.
So I got a GameCube controller that was made by Yobo that was more like the original GameCube controller. Well I thought it worked great at first, but then I realized it sucks because the shoulder buttons and joystick could get broken and moved out of place easily
Can someone tell me what happened to the smash 4 controllers? When you search them up on Amazon or Walmart one anywhere else it says "preorder now will be released December 31" why are they not available right now?
I actually used this controller to play PM for two years. It works well enough for a little while, but it degrades very quickly. On every single one of these I've ever owned (yes, I wasted money on this piece of junk more than once) the Z button has broken within a week, and as a result I had to get used to grabbing with R. I've also never had one with a left stick that could actually stay centered after more than a few months of use; the only one I still have pulls to the left constantly, so I never use it. Since you like the sticks so much, let me just warn you and say that the ridges on the left stick wear down fairly quickly. After a month or so of use, mine was completely smooth. It didn't really make it much harder to use, but it feels super weird compared to a real controller.
I actually have a more modern Yobo controller, but unlike that it is shaped exactly like a regular GameCube controller, and it feels pretty good, and tbh I barely notice a difference between an official controller and the generic ones from game stores, like I notice a small plastic quality difference but I have one that my cousin frequently uses for ultimate, and my brother uses my Yobo one and they both like them fine, not claiming to be pros but we don't mind the off brand ones, I only don't use my generic one anymore because I got a Power A Gamecube usb controller for switch that I like much better due to the double Z buttons and that they are bigger, also it just feels good
Next video you should make all the controllers and games and consoles whatever you test and that they have a low review. Have a video where you're smashing them all up.
So true story, the other day me, my friend and my brother were playing melee on the gamecube and me and my brother used normal official controllers (except for one round when I used the DJ bongos and almost won) and my friend was using an third party wireless controller. Clear plastic, broken parts, all the basic jawdawg garbage. So after playing around 30 rounds we started messing around with the GB player and left the third party controller sitting on the coffee table still on. So about 10 minutes after we stopped playing melee, we hear a POP and look back to see smoke from the controller! So we lifted it up quick and brought it out on the porch, and there was a pool of acid on my coffee table. So, long story somewhat shorter, I'm going back to my bongos.
YOBO: you only buy once from them.
Nice roast
Haaaaa
YOBOFT
You Only Buy Once
Alright, now to win EVO with that.
The Arch if that happened that'd be crazy
Can you use third party controllers?
PEPPER yeah
Nice >:]
*B A N N E D*
U should make a series with weird shit controllers and play netplay with them
Your daughter presents her new boyfriend and he uses this joystick, what do you do?
zeliz i show him what a real man’s joystick looks like 😂
didn't he already do that? He had a series in which he bought and tried out third party controllers. He tested those controllers in practice before going online to netplay. I can't find the series or most of the videos of the series anymore. Did he delete them? This video seems to be the only one in the series left.
you should get every 3rd party controller you can find and compare and rate them with the official one
Thats the eventual goal! ..with enough money and tolerance for bad controls built up haha
zenith SSBM make sure to do a video on the family Dollar controllers.
Qwerty2084 would love for you to include things like the hyperkin procube controller, pdp wired fight pad, or the hori battle pad
My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined.
I feel defeated. More so than usual.
OKAY
Fuck you, you made my day ruined too
Edit from 2021:
Don’t know if I was serious, but still funny.
+9000
Pk fire
make a video putting Switch Pro Controller joysticks on the Gamecube controller
If that works I'm def doing it
Feels like vice versa would be better imo
Switch control stick goes into the GameCube controller but GameCube stick don’t go into the switch pro controller unless you modify it
what i believe about the perfect 1's when checking the analog stick calibration is that the "analog" signals coming out of the controller is bring rounded and converted into digital signals. The dash-backing issue with that control may also refer to the very small opposite input being rounded to 0, or it just has a larger deadzone than a regular controller.
Sounds logical, especially the deadzone explanation!
a guy in a foxy hoodie pulls up to your local with this in his hand wyd?
Wonder why I'm at a smash tournament and how I got there
Pull out the GBA adapter and dk bongos and get ready for a duel
PontiCat72 😂
Slam his ass
Run
Finally an actual review of the video that mentions how “good” the controller is. I found a wireless one online, but I can save the $50 now.
oh yes pleaseee dont buy that. i cannot imagine how unresponsive it would be you can definitely find official wavebirds for less than that (Used, in good condition)
Yeah I’m going to either buy the wavebird for an affordable price or just get another Wired Controller so I have 4 gamecube controllers.
Spoilers.
in the next episode, you should put the control stick onto a normal gamecube controller to see if it is useable, also i would love to see you smash the controller at the end of the video
ncjkndojndjsnfjow of you wanna see someone destroy video game related stuff just search AVGN
Looks like something you would find in Poundland.
Right next to the Pop Stations
Ashens Yobo Controller review when.
Is that a gym?
Americans be like
never seen any of your vids but all ready like you cause of the shirt
lol
bad news = it not allowed out side
good enws = it can shock you
me = I want it to blow up.
"Designed by professional gamers"
Can you confirm this
The 10 ft cord can choke you. That's how you'd choke.
nice edits for the start
That shirt is amazing
And now for a terrible idea: A smash tournament with randomized, third party controllers! A whole new experience every fight!
Looking forward to more 👍
yeah that packaging blows hard, but helps against shoplifting a bit is why it's used
Love the concept! Here's an idea for your rating system: Just say if it is recommended or not. And if you do not recommend it, you just end the video by destroying the controller, like by smashing it with a hammer. That'd be neat
hmmmmmm
i remember a used buy and sell game store was trying to sell me these new instead of their used official controllers. saying it would last years and some bs lol
shady. hopefully you didnt fall for it!
Some third party controllers are ok, my local game store sells some alright ones, but I prefer official controllers.
what if you press the turbo button in tournament by accident
itll prob mess up your inputs when done by accident lol as far as legality goes, i cant imagine people caring that your controller allows you to do the slowest multishines in the world but technically still illegal i believe
Beware this controller can’t be taken outside and it can some how cause you to choke and it can shock you... Sounds good!
But will it eat me!?
I hope the triggers are at least half as good as the originals. They were so damn good.
The analog stick is like if you put a rubber band in it, because it has the stiff stretch effect.
0:53 Weird... I had a weird dream about a different Gamecube controller. All the face buttons were shapped differently. I think the X or Y button's curve was in the opposite direction, but the B button was oddly shaped, extrem long! Longer than usual, and now compared to this...
Me: Is born.
All of my entire family and relatives: Get ready for disappointed.

Nice we all expect to see more videos like this :) really useful info on those third party controllers
I love how the controller slowly deteriorates throughout the video
great stuff man!
**seems legit**
4:29 as a master hand main, that’s disappointing to hear I won’t be able to use this in tournament
I like the new series!
"Get ready for disappointment.." *way ahead of you, bud*
I bought a Yobo N64 controller. The control stick doesn't work correctly, and the A and B buttons are big.
zenith SSBM, maybe you can do a video on that controller.

How bad can it be ep 1 👀👀👀
I wasn't looking at my screen and I thought you were mr beast
Your reviews are so good!
Can you PLZ do a review of the Hyperkin ProCube Controller?!
I wanted to buy it for Smash and other games but its a 3rd party controller.
So, yeah...
Plzzzzzzzz!
ill look into it!
The hyperkin is actually a good controller however the analog stick is tall so if you are used to nunchuck sticks you’ll get used to it. The bumpers click and the triggers feel weird but I got used to it. I would recommend it however smash ultimate is coming out soon so it depends if are still going to get it
How bad is the deadspot on the joysticks?
About a mile long
4:00 seems fairly common actually. Theres the Hori controllers that have a different shape but are very good from what i hear.
I had that gamecube controller and a month later the control stick broke.
What kind of chair is that? Looks comfy
Ikea Markus! its a godlike chair
As soon as I saw the shirt I knew I needed to sub
I had a couple of yobo controllers they only last a week I'm so happy I got a wave bird
Still better than the Wii Balance Board. It has two buttons!
I thought the balance board had one button to turn it on
I really liked this video, I hope you make more soon
Please do more I wanna see more weird controllers
I plan on making more!
Mine broke the same day I got it 4 years ago.
The joystick wouldn't register.
It's comfortable and has a long cable so you can sit further away but its has problems with the internals.
My super springy (trampolines aren't this springy) joystick on my tetris arcade has snapbacks :(
I'd love to see it remade in higher quality, as the squarish design is quite nice.
Not sure if you knew this but the Start and B buttons were copied from the original prototype Gamecube Controller "look up Assemblergames's video" it looks very identical to that.
This is one of those controllers were your going “oh shit oh shit I need a controller but I only got 10 dollars” - Scott
you should try the evoretro gamecube controller or the cipon gamecube controller
It's a good thing I had that Subscribe button SMASHED and my notifications ON or I would have missed this absolutely incredible video! :D
So if I hate using buttons for jumping and shielding this is for me?
your videos are amazing aaaa
Why are you doing this to yourselffffffff.
3:10 Dadgummit! I wanted to put on my coat and go outside and play my GameCube with really long extension cables.
The turbo button makes the controller respond faster. The red light indicates if turbo is on.
I used a third party controller for about 3 years before realising it was third party after I finally got a second one and noticed that it had Nintendo written on the back of the C-stick. The sound was the only real difference that I noticed
This controller is 10/10 IGN

Did the shoulder button feel like the same one as the regular GameCube controller
Someone didn't know the definition of a turbo button going into this review haha. In my day they were the shit!
I wish you could open it up, finding a way to swap out the parts for official ones could be cool because of the design but the tiny buttons and stuff might screw it up
These things come out the box with deadzones
Can you review yobos other gamecube controller?
It looks just like oem
How do I check the controller values on screen on dolphin? (8:50)
Im going to buy a new controller and I want to check out the analog values when I get it
its in 20XX 4.07, press down on the d pad in the character select screen
5:29 and 8:58
I'm pretty sure I know what that means.
Is nobody going to talk about his ReportOfTheWeek merch
when i got my gamecube it came with that controller and i cant get the controller to turn on
I still have a giant scar on my arm from when I was a kid and tried ripping that packaging in half
I got one of these and wanted to test it before I got the av cable ( so I could use my GameCube but couldn’t see anything) the light did nothing and I was scared. Well now I know that the light really has no purpose. Thanks for un-confusing me!
You ever get a controller that only has digital triggers? i love those ones
You melee guys should review this cool controller called "taking a fucking shower for once"
eri accurate
What is Shield Drop and how do you do it?
What is wrong with being able to multi shine?
by angling the control stick to a SPECIFIC analogue value while shielding on a platform it allows you to drop through it without having to go through any squat animation and act out of it right away. zenith SSBM just remember to work your way up from the smallest size bit, otherwise you'll make no progress and could possible scratch the controller
any chance there are other places to get rarer controllers other than ebay, I might buy a Emerald blue and I'm hella tempted to get the Char or even a symphonic green if one pops up somewhere
not really, except with EXTREME luck. ofc you could always go to Japan where I hear you can find them way more commonly
zenith SSBM damn alright ty
I'm looking for a decent 3rd party controller because an original controller where i live is quite expensive, to say the least.

@@zenithSSBM I just took the rubber grip off a 3rd party, and put it on the indigo
U could solder the gate to a normal official controller and get perfect values
Edit: it may break though and wear out
Wtf? I recieved the notification of this without beind subscribed
for real? in your sub feed? lol idk how, usually its TH-cam glitching and not showing videos to people who are subbed
this is my go to controller for smash ultimate
RAZER NEEDS tO MAKE A GAMECUBE CONTROLLER
I would actually be interested in what they come up with...
Lmao. Had no idea there was a video dedicated to this piece of crap sitting in my lap with an F'd up analog... It's one of the most clunky controllers I ever had.. similar to how PS2 controllers come from factory

Theyre coming out with the new smash game. Nintendo stopped production of the old smash 4 controllers like early 2017
It has a shock warning because it'll shock you with how bad it is
I would 100% love if I got that controller it would be so awesome

So, long story somewhat shorter, I'm going back to my bongos.
thats insane... what brand was it? you have pictures of it? I may own the same third party controller lol
zenith SSBM haha we threw it away because the acid was everywhere but I kept the receiver. I'll look when I get home.
zenith SSBM it was an Intec brand controller, and it had a blue/purple colored block receiver
Turbo shines
Is the joysticks compatible with oem?
