When Delta had Lymphoma, the same Hematology specialist Professor John Moore saved both our lives, thought I would give him a shout out.
Everytime and I mean everytime it brings tears. It’s just a stunning piece of music and song Gurrumul brought the sprit of Australia and Delta the voice of angel. Rip Gurrumul you so miss 🖤💛❤️🇦🇺
This performance was a perfect melding of the past and present to leave a lasting legacy for the future. Gurrumul's voice brings the ancient treasure of his people's beautiful language to so many people. He was gone far too soon but left us with so much beauty in his music.

I don't care if I don't know what it's about. I'm just happy that we are now hearing these amazing songs with indigenous lyrics. We've lost so many indigenous languages in Australia. Languages spoken for thousands of years. I just lost myself in this spiritual and beautiful song.
"Bayini" are light-skinned mythological beings. In literature, the first non-Aboriginal visitors to the Arnhem Land coast are referred to as Bayini.
In songs that record and preserve their traditions, Aboriginal people of Arnhem land tell of the Bayini gypsies with copper coloured skin who visited their shores.
Yolngu are deep thinking people. The words in the song refer to many families sitting together on the beach looking to waves and sea, the horizon, contemplating.
"Long ago from over the horizon the Bayini came to Yolngu country."
This song, is my come home from work, kick up my feet, and close my eyes forgetting my day at the office!

We say 'Dr G' now - out of Respect for the Indigenous customs of not speaking the names of those passed on.
Australian First Peoples are the longest living continuous community - peoples - culture on the planet, going back (at least) 70,000 years of an unbroken line. "Of the, at least, which existed before colonisation, 145 were still spoken in 2005, but 110 of these are currently critically endangered". Indigenous culture was and continues to be passed on via an oral tradition of song and stories and art. There are currently twenty two Indigenous language centres around Australia for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities working to maintain, preserve and promote the diversity of their languages - now also in written form - for us all. Just imagine yourself, 50,000 years ago, sitting on a beach at night under the wheel of bright stars, listening to the hiss and draw of waves on the sand, the crackle of fire sending sparks into the dark and hearing this language, this music.
Dr G's music was and continues to be a Great Gift - not only to Australia but to the World.

Did you notice he plays the guitar upside down? He’s left handed and learned to play on a right handed guitar so he plays upside down!
If you want to hear more from Delta try Let it rain live Today she wrote this song in dedication to the Fire fighters and emergency services who fought the forest fires here in Australia. This is such an emotional song.

She is actually singing the same words as he sang only in english the yellow she has on is symbolic to baylini that the song is about. I did a bad job of trying to explain it.😲

Just watched Delta sing one of the songs she wrote it is deep and it still amazes me she can sing at all after spending a year leaning to speak again, although as she said herself i can speak, now won't shut up 🤣 song is called Heavy.

Bayini the name of the song means white woman that came on board in a ship in early days that's part of song line and now Gurrumul sings about her in his own way, and Delta wow nailed it.
