People descend into hyperbole at larger sample sizes and lower I.Qs. People back then said you couldn't play unless you knew every inversion in every position and every mode of every scale and used that knowledge actively. That's what my father and uncle's meant when they said "Can he play?" about someone. Not could they "do" Louie Louie after being shown which places to put your fingers, which Sid totally could and did do. This was never in question until a new generation misunderstood the real meaning of "can't play a single note." during the actual, real 1970s. Everyone I knew played an instrument and "couldn't really play" This is why punk even existed as an idea in the first place. People who sang in chorus and played in high-school band "couldn't play." Everybody's Aunt played organ and their mom could play a little piano and / or sing in key and do harmony without practice on the spot. Unmusical families' milage may vary. I'm talking every third household, man. Very common. Different world. Sid could play pistols songs when conscious, alert, and intending to do a good job. Better as a front man, though. Better than lydon, GG, and many others trying to do the same thing. He should have taken over as vocalist and never been handed a bass. His true potential was wasted. Unsurprisingly, in the case of the king of the punks. *Sid Vicious was innocent.*
Not even sure his bass amp is on... but I'm listening though a phone so maybe I can't hear it properly.. but by watching his right arm movements, sometimes it seems he's playing always the same pattern, while he's trying to get the limelight on himself.. Probably he was following MM orders, the poor sod..
@tatethompson1234 Yeah I also have that VHS which you own. This footage here is the best quality I've seen (apart from 'New York' and 'Seventeen' which were released on the 'Classic Albums' DVD in high quality as you probably know). The footage above is cleaner and has a slightly longer intro than our 'The Filth & The Fury' VHS. The best sound quality available for this gig is on one of the CDs included in the 'Indecent Exposure' boxset. That audio synced to this would be great
It is strange to see them in Sweden, Why they were so succesful they were asked, and John Lydon (Rotten) answered," because we do what the kids feel". Truly.... I miss them and I miss their music ..out of my radio only comes shit! Rihanna and bla bla Bullshit is the music Industry and it was...except the Pistols and Stranglers and many others. 2013 nothing has changedd just pollution in the ears.
@SexPistolsArchives Its better than the usual 3rd generation footage. I have the footage on a 80's VHS tape called The Filth and The Fury, long before the documentry. It also has winterland on it and EMI from Holland. If ya don't have it, look for it, a must for any Pistols fan!
@tatethompson1234 I agree. NMTB reissued and remastered AGAIN and with some 'rare' stuff tagged on which all us hardcore fans will have anyway. I genuinely will be amazed if anything appears that I (and probably you) haven't already got and in better quality than it gets released!!
@SexPistolsArchives Yeah, haha. I really want NMTB with Glen mixed in. I just hope nothing new comes out like the version of " Anarchy In The UK " for Guitar Hero. I can listen to it, but I find it kinda cheap. I also hope they clean up the Thames River Boat gig and release it. Would be cool to see if there is anymore footage out there. I have asked Steve is he has anything and he said no, he never thought of it at the time to keep stuff and regrets it now.
Não o Nirvana era mais profissional e melhores músicos, mas o Sex Pistols ao vivo era insuperável, pura podrera o espírito punk da época, fazer música sem ser músico, cantar sem saber cantar, anti sistema ❤❤❤❤
how dare you call the pistols a rock n' roll band and compare them to the beatles. they were a punk band, one does not simply do that. i like the footage though, thanks
@SexPistolsArchives Yeah. The Sex Pistols just got another record deal. For us fans we need something new. I want new songs, or I think they should go through all the USA Footage and Bootlegs and clean em up and edit and release that officially, or they should just do like what the Ramones did for It's Alive, release a ton of stuff that no ones seen for a while. Im kinda sick of the same CD's with the same crap on it.
+Stigma Please, do not get me wrong, Norwegian friend. Let's forget about 1905 now. I LOVE The Sex Pistols. I truly do. I love John Lydon. He's GREAT. But The Clash had it all. I'm a bit to the left, see and a sucker for great melodies. Anyway, let's not become enemies now. Remember Kjött? Great band.
Sids bass is fucking great. He looked and sounded great. RIP Sid X
This is good. Raw ... clean and crisp. F'in AWESOME !
The best punk band ever ... all there rest stood in their shadow !
Look how sid was good at the bass before the us tour, very good hearing him at the bass before 1978.
his bass playing at the winterland gig was even better!

This is my favorite performance of all their songs!! It beats the studio version by far.... Loud, noisy and raw the way it's supposed to be....
Great gig.. very good recorded quality I think
Great footage, raw and rockin how its suppose to be
Gold dust this.
This should be required viewing by all the young kids listening to crap on the radio. It doesn't get better than this.
Agreed!!! Let em hear what real music sounds like.
I was there :)
I was at home :(
I was in my daddys balls
Fredric Sanabria Of course you were.

Anger is an energy
This is not a love song, lol! John is the bees knees.
Amazing. Crazy. And BRILLIANT!!
R.I.P. Sid.

Funny how no-one complains about Sid when they hear and see him as a decent bass player lol
+Stigma Billy Idol writes in his self biography that Sid did great during his first gig with the Sex Pistols.
Larz Gustafsson Yup, I think he was a decent bass player
+Stigma Det var narkotikan som förstörde honom. It was the drugs that ruined him. Heroin.
Larz Gustafsson Ja, desverre..
+Stigma Ha de!
The only truly significant band since the Beatles? OMFG...
Хой!!!
punk rock not dead!

Jag fick endast hålla till godo med Glen Matlock på Debaser Slussen.

Sid was such a good looking dude
@SexPistolsArchives Yeah, haha. I really want NMTB with Glen mixed in. I just hope nothing new comes out like the version of " Anarchy In The UK " for Guitar Hero. Billy Idol claims that Sid did a good first gig with the Pistols way back when.
Los sex pistols y los Ramones los mejores en el punk
Ramones suck
a FEW months being the key words
Yup, but the bass volume is low, for some reason :P
Johnny always said later that The Sex Pisols were designed to be the death of rock n roll but the "senile idiots didn't get it".
Modern history.
Who cut of the bass?
I heard that too!
rock music always been popular in sweden has it not, i know slade said that for a small country they sold loads of records there.
Я, старый уже пердун, до сих пор торчу и торчу. Мне 64
Whats the second song they sing?
The song is called "I Wanna Be Me" and it first appeared as the B side to the "Anarchy In The UK" 1976 single. Great song.
how dare you call the pistols a rock n' roll band and compare them to the beatles.

Actually they call themselves a rock n roll band. They were at the forefront of Punk but hated the term.
@SexPistolsArchives Yeah. The Sex Pistols just got another record deal. For us fans we need something new. How can the Eagles be better than the Sex Pistols without a sense of irony?
+Jus' Trollin' The EAGLES??? I HATE them!
Swedish punks eh?
The Clash were greater.
+Larz Gustafsson trololol
+Stigma What is your problem? I used to be the singer of a punk band myself back in the days.
Larz Gustafsson So did I. That's not a credential though. All I'm saying is without The Pistols, no punk and certainly no Clash
Svensker, altså....

Remember Kjött? Great band.
Larz Gustafsson Of course ;) I love the Pistols, like the Clast too. Kjött? Yup, love them as well ;)
They immediately sounded horrible once John got Sid into the band.
Stigma I agree, Sid wasn't very bright.
Sid (as always) was not plugged in
R.I.P. Sid.
