I really admire how Mark actually replies to as many comments from his fans as he can. It's one of the reasons I actually went out and bought his book, I feel like it's an actually interaction happening not just business.
Hey Mark! This was really helpful. I'd definitely like to see the worm's eye view sometime. But also, a video on "20 Different Ways and Reasons to Draw Blushies" would be pretty hilarious! Sorta like your "100 Ways to Draw Manga Eyes", except I don't think there are 100 ways to do blushies...
Great tutorial! I love that your taking principles from Mastering Manga 2 and kind of elaborating on them in a video~ It's very helpful to have a video as well as a written explanation for people with different preferences :)
Thank you so much for making videos I've been watching your videos since I was 11 . They help me out a lot and when I was in the hospital (for cancer) I wanted to keep on learning so I told my doctor to get me your mastering manga book and its great! I had the book to occupy myself while I was there for 2 weeks! I learned a lot from your book and videos :-) thank you
When you said "People hates basic guide lines and they unsubscribe in massive amount" it made me laugh a little. Because in my drawing videos, I put no basic guide lines at all and my subscriber still unsubscribe in massive amount XD
1.) You were on a roll today, funniest video in a while, lol 2.) I think this is the most attractive girl you've drawn so far (I love a more gentle beauty than the obvious super-model type characters in anime/manga). and 3.) Doing a Worm's Eye Point of View would be really awesome, I hope you do that soon.
I'm not sure why, but I find the girl to the right, far more attractive than the on at the left. Maby its because the bird view makes the face slightly shorter, thus giving a much younger look?
Ecchi Ness I just realized I never posted my reply to this, so I will do it now xD Yeah, I totally agree. That's a trick used in movies all the time; it's always more flattering to see a girl with the camera tilted slightly downward.
Excellent video! Yes, I'd definitely like to see more like this with different angles. I have your 'Mastering Manga' book and I love it, but videos like these are a really good supplement to what I'm learning in your books. Thanks so much for going to the effort each week to make these videos. I always look forward to them. :)
LOVE this tutorial, Mark. Reminds me of the videos that got me hooked on your channel circa 2009. Personally these types of videos are the most helpful for me, would love to see more of them.
Very nice video, Mark! As always, very helpful. I hadn't considered the Bird's Eye PoV until now. Someone in the comment section also asked for a Worm's Eye PoV, which would be a good idea for a future video. Now, I wanted to ask you if you could make a video of "action" poses, like running, a "jumping slash", a defensive stance, and these affected by emotions, like anger, happiness or fear. You know, things like that. Another video could be facial expressions like fear, panic, extreme anger, psychotic laugh, crying. You know, the serious stuff.
I would REALLY appreciate a realistic version, since I'm having a lot of trouble of getting it done correctly. It would be hugely appreciated! Great video here!
whenever I draw to your videos, or imitating my favorite manga artists, I always leave the skeleton sketch (guidelines) underneath so I can easily reference it in the future! As always, you're the man.
I have a question, when you make a drawing video; do you put a lamp right beside your drawing? Because the drawing look like it's drawing in natural light.
Since you mentioned it I thought I'd just say I actually USED to hate the idea of guidelines. I thought of them strictly as a beginner's tool or something for people who lack any skill. However, as I've progressed through your videos and practiced and practiced, I've found them to be more and more useful. So now I don't dare start drawing my characters without putting down guidelines first! Thank you so much for your lessons!! :)
Worm's eye would be awesome. It would help get a sort of brooding hero look. By the way, just got my copy of Mastering Manga 1 in the mail, and it is indeed awesome. Thank you so much for all the work you put into the videos and your books, they really have helped me get a much better sense on my own art.
Hi Mark, could you possibly re-make your tutorial about male and female proportions? I watched your videos about it, but since it's kinda outdated, and I thought you might have some new tips for it. Drawing female body proportion sure is tough for me. T_T That aside, this video is great! I can't believe I just elevated like that by drawing a bird's eye view that easily since your tutorials are really easy for me to understand, which is great! Though I may need some practice for the whole body, I'm just glad I understand the whole concept of it.
blushes always make me happy. Good job mark your artwork gets better and better to see every week! Keep up the good work! (i really sound like a teacher)
I always find what helps is: *drawing the eyes angled downwards toward the middle as though on a curve *keeping the top of the eye flatter than usual *making the eyes slightly narrower *drawing the eyebrows angled towards the centre *keeping the cheekbones high and closer to the eye than normal *positioning the ear higher * and like with everything, loads of practice (daily if possible) Just thought I'd give tips as these really helped me ^_^ (as did this video so thanks Mark)
Allow me to say that the old man time lapse voice was probably your best voice imitation so far. It makes me feel sorry for getting mad at him up until now XD And yes, DO A BLUSHIES VIDEO! RIGHT NOW!!!!!
Thank you so much for all of your video tutorials. I am an artist in a different style; this is really a great way to explore this style and get new perspectives on things.
It always fascinates me how clearly you (and other really good artists) are able to visualize 3D shapes, curves and figures in your head. It almost looks like you can actually see the figure you are drawing on! Also the new song i *really* good! Very well composed (in G minor, if I'm not mistaken) :)
The best how-to-draw channel on youtube!!! You are a very skilled drawer, mr.Crilley. You're videos are funny, and your voice is soft and pleasant to listen to :) P.S not a creepy guy
Mark, I really don't mind that you went to old man time lapse, you got what you needed to show us (the principles) in there, and quite clearly. So don't worry!
I think you should do a video on foreshortining from a lower point of view like looking up at a chatacter instead of looking down, and I would love it if you used Broody. Lovin your syle
Mr.Crilley been watching your vids for a while even bought your mastering manga 1&2 I've been taking and hour out of each day to practice.(my lunch breaks mans gotta make a livin right)and I have to say thanks to you when I look at the first page of my sketchbook and compare it to the ninety-first I can see real progress. cant say I finally got my foot in the door of being a real manga artist but at lest I got up the front steps, thanks for the help
Whenever I watch these artists who know what they're doing drawing I always get these "Ah-hah" and "Of course" moments when they draw something that I can't imagine myself.
I would very much like to see an anatomically accurate version of this. I think that would be awesome. Very interested in the difference between the two.
could you show us how to draw characters at different distances? i never know when to not draw the pupils in the eyes or when to just shade the characters all together.
Thank you for this! I've been having difficulties with the high and low angles. Have you done a worms eye view? If not, could you make that one of your future videos?
hey Mark, love the videos. I was wondering if you might consider doing a video on underwater effects such as how to draw the hair of a person underwater and also how to color a person who is underwater. Thanks!
:D just what I needed. I've kinda been trying to draw characters from this perspective for a while but I never really succeeded, but now I know what to do. Crilley always has just the right videos >:3
Great guideline, but I wonder did you do a guideline that drawing a face from below like "an ant that look up"? I alway have trouble for that angle, especial from below view that face is facing to the screen, not 3/4.
What's the technique for making shadows a part of a colored pencil drawing and not look like an add on? Do you use a darker application of the color you're shadowing or an unrelated cool color? I love to draw birds but have difficulty shadowing between feathers in a realistic manner. Appreciate your response! Lynnmarie
Thanks mark for this helpful video I wish to see more of it .. And I really want to see bird view for the all of the character body .. Also I wish to see more position for the characters ( For example a man sitting on a cheer in 3/4 view)
Awesome tutorial! Do you think you can do a tutorial on the basics of drawing hands? I know about the videos "How to draw manga hands 3 different ways" and "How to draw manga hands 2 different ways" that you posted, but I just want to know the building blocks and how to make the hand poses natural instead of robotic.
I like drawing but I don't really do it very often, nevertheless I watch all your videos just because it's so much fun listening to you talking, using your original "words", your impersonations, your love affair with gouache, the excitement waiting for you to draw the blushies...anyway I just wanted to let you know why I really enjoy watching your videos! Thanks for making them! By the way, I would love to buy some of your manga but I haven't seen them here in Mexico. Wish one day I can meet you personally. ^_^
Thank you for the lesson Mark, it was really helpful for me :) Do you think you could do a tutorial on "fish-eye lense" view? Lots of mangas seem to do this effect and I'm clueless on how to do it!
Can u please do a videos on how to draw the same characters eyes from different views? I'm working on a little project that involves making my own character and it would really help! Thanks mark! ❤️
2 million subscriber video must be an in-depth non-timelapse blushie tutorial. But in all seriousness, I would love to see more birds eye and foreshortening videos. Do you think you could possibly do a full body birds eye view tutorial as well as maybe worms eye view? I have both Mastering Manga books and I know that you go over that stuff in book two, but it would be really great to watch you draw it out. :)
Hey Crilley you should do a video on fights scenes and incorporate the similar techniques of birds eyes or l and/or worms eye point if views. That would be great Thank You!
New sub here! I've been trying to catch up on the videos for the past week or so, and they've all been awesome! I've always been into art in a more technical sense, being an engineer, but I've got loads of sketchbooks littering the house of things I do in my idle time. I've never really ventured out of a more realistic take on portraiture until quite recently, and I wish I had earlier! I'm about as good at this as I am at anything else (which is to say, not very) but the manga/cartoon style as a whole is just damn fun, plain and simple. I've found that I tend to gravitate toward your videos for that reason; you're a fun guy to listen to! I don't like to really pay too much attention to the details of what you do, because I feel like that encourages me to copy you more so than to create my own style, but I'll play the audio while I'm working on something else and pop back in every few minutes or so to catch the important details. It's been a great tool in my journey down the road of the wannabe artist! So yeah, thanks for what you do! please! Worm's Eyes Point of View! I'm Really struggling to get it. Many artist has different techniques but I really want to know yours to get at least an idea of the precautions I need take while drawing this VERY DIFFICULT ANGLE!
Yo mark ive trying to draw a hooded trench coat character. More like a fantasy character than a real life one can you make a video on drawing clothing?

Well done Mark! I like the videos when you do a different angle, but you draw the front view right next to it! It's brilliant! Keep up the great work!
I have watched several of your videos tonight for the first time. I love your method of teaching. Thank you.
the shading is so astonishing smooth.. wow i love this one!
Haven't been this in love with a drawn character since beaty and the beast... beautiful character crilley

Please do a how to draw blushies video! It would be so funny and fun to watch ^-^
Yes do the "worm eye point of view" PLEASE, i've been really struggling with that.
yes showing how to draw someone looking upwards in the bird's eye view will be awesome for some of us Crilley :D
Yeah Mark we would love a more realistic version of this!!! Maybe you could possibly do it with a male character that time

Thank you so much for all of your video tutorials. I am an artist in a different style; this is really a great way to explore this style and get new perspectives on things.
Get the mastering manga books. They are really great. #2 especially.
I just got your " mastering manga" book today, I love it! Worth every penny!!
It always fascinates me how clearly you (and other really good artists) are able to visualize 3D shapes, curves and figures in your head. It almost looks like you can actually see the figure you are drawing on!

Mark, as a challenge video, could you try to sculpt something?
Thanks so much Mark! This is a interesting angle to put into my manga instead of just the same old front view!
The guidelines really help me! And also I love how you create your own problems that we would have, such as the headline, and solve it! So smart :D
Creeper_Girl_15 Thanks! :)

You inspire me Mark crilley keep it up.. your THE best drawer I know thank you
You have 0 idea how much you've helped me! I can't believe how smart and talented you are! Thanks! ;)
I'd love to see a more realistic version! this already helped me out a lot tho C:
I would very much like to see an anatomically accurate version of this. I think that would be awesome. Very interested in the difference between the two.
Love this illustration from bird's eye view
This is bloody amazing, glad it exists! I've been sucked into 'Brody's Ghost', as well. ^^ great stuff, mate.
I try to draw this and it turn out great. Thank you mark for helping me out .😁
could you show us how to draw characters at different distances? i never know when to not draw the pupils in the eyes or when to just shade the characters all together.
I love your videos mark. You're a great teacher. I'm expecting a video about blushies!
Thank you for this! I've been having difficulties with the high and low angles. Have you done a worms eye view? If not, could you make that one of your future videos?
Can you make a video about how to draw heads when theyre tilted like to the side, up and down? would be great!
You help me out so much, and your voices are most entertaining. You've got excellent instruction, for myself at least. Thanks Old Man Time Lapse ;)
Great video! Yes I would like to see this done with a male character. Maybe a front view looking down instead of a 3/4 view?
That would be awesome if you did a video on blushies! I would so watch that just cuz.
hey Mark, love the videos. I was wondering if you might consider doing a video on underwater effects such as how to draw the hair of a person underwater and also how to color a person who is underwater. Thanks!
can you do one from ant's eye view...I seem to have more trouble with that than bird's eye
you are so good at drawing you have helped me so much this year
:D just what I needed. I've kinda been trying to draw characters from this perspective for a while but I never really succeeded, but now I know what to do. Crilley always has just the right videos >:3
can you teach us how to draw sneakers on a playful kid and teenager im stuck on how the shoes are supposed to look
Great guideline, but I wonder did you do a guideline that drawing a face from below like "an ant that look up"? I alway have trouble for that angle, especial from below view that face is facing to the screen, not 3/4.

Mark Crilley I love your work! Could you make a video on fantasy how to draw anime fire mage with a trench coat please!
This was incredibly helpful. Also, I would love to see a video focused on how to draw from a worm's point of view.
I love your work moreover I love your sense of humor! The time lapse oldie voice! Hahaha!
Thank you for the lesson Mark, it was really helpful for me :)
Do you think you could do a tutorial on "fish-eye lense" view? Lots of mangas seem to do this effect and I'm clueless on how to do it!
So cool! I'll have to use this some time thanks mark!
Time lapse has now become a real person to me, that voice you did was so matching somehow :')
Can u please do a videos on how to draw the same characters eyes from different views? I'm working on a little project that involves making my own character and it would really help! Thanks mark! ❤️
markcrilley do you think that a common work pen or a sharpie pen can be used for inking or crosshatching?
@marcrilley how are you able to shade and not have the pencil lead smear all over your hands??? I shade all the time and it gets everywhere!!! D:
Me too! My hands always smudge the pencil everywhere. =)

So yeah, thanks for what you do! I've recently gotten through what's been released of Brody's Ghost, and it's been a nice change in pace from my usual reads (and my first venture into the visual novel world, I might add). Quite looking forward to the sixth installment!
TL;DR: video gud. me liek. ty
E1337N3SS Thanks so much for getting Brody's Ghost!
Amazing job mark and I have been having trouble with the spacing between the eyes and how big or small they should be could you help me out
Can you do a video to show how to draw a person walking from the view below his feet?
Like the feet will seem to be bigger than the whole body ? If you can then thank
can you draw a below perspective? like if someone was looking up at somebody?
have you ever draw on a tablet? and what do you think is easier on paper or on a tablet and with or without screen (on the tablet)
Hey! First off I would like to say I LOVE your videos they have helped me so much, I was wondering if you do a video or give me all ink to a good on on drawing torn shirts and the stomach underneath. I'm having issues drawing them in the battle scenes and every picture I find and try to do the same kind of pattern I can't seem to get the flow right. Thanks, LOVE your videos!
could u do a video on how to draw letters...that is if u don't already have one
How do you make that perfect circle? I'm having a hard time just getting the circle correct.
Please do this in full body! Could you do that? And boys / realistic version please to!
Can you please make a video on how to make kòtoro from the book negima?
please! Worm's Eyes Point of View! I'm Really struggling to get it. Many artist has different techniques but I really want to know yours to get at least an idea of the precautions I need take while drawing this VERY DIFFICULT ANGLE!
thank you mr. crilley this one's been a great help - bird's eye is something I struggle with.
also, could you do a worm's eye as well?
Thanks for the vid. It's very helpful. Worms eye view would be great.
wow Mark another helpful video. Giving us more useful tips.
Why isn't there a "love" button to click?!
Milanguy1999 ^_^
But there is a "Favourite" button! ;D
Fluffy Puppy not enough
there is it's " *straight away from us* " lol
or an " i'll steal your work and make a fortune" button.
You should do a video on how to draw blushies. That would be sooooooo awesome
Can you do a video on how to draw a regular manga guy without a shirt. Like for pajamas, because I'm working on a book. :)
I would love to know how to do a fish eye view like you get in horrors or something. Think you can do it?
Do you have any videos about drawing ears at different angles?
Can you make a video what art tools you're using? :)
Even though I'm not a drawer I just love watching your videos. I wish I could draw like that :(
Yo mark ive trying to draw a hooded trench coat character. More like a fantasy character than a real life one can you make a video on drawing clothing?
hi mark I know that u rarely do fanarts but I would really appreciate it if you could teach us how to draw zero from vampire knight the style that Matsuri Hino uses in there character is quite unique
