- In this video I redo all the carpet in my land cruiser. I talk you through the process of removing the carpet, underlay, cleaning up the floor and then reinstalling new underlay and carpet.

the job looks like it was quite a lot of work, you did a good job. What's with the furry seats LOL, Maby they will be a project too. I see your dad helps you a lot, I had a dad like that. you're really lucky, a lot of guys don't have dads like that. You should always let him know how much you appreciate him. I appreciate this comment. He definitely is amazing and I am really lucky to have him around. He got me into cars in the first place. It was a big job but so worth it. As you saw in the video, my old carpet was filthy and it really stunk. The furry seat covers are wool and more for comfort than protection! The interior of the car gets babied, I’m very precious about it 😂 I am from south Australia, always nice to hear from people overseas!

Yes that black stuff is an insulating, waterproof underlay
Is the the underlay for noise reduction? From were did you buy it?
Might one day replace the carpet with vinyl in my 2010 76 series Lx (South African spec) to make it easier to clean and water crossing less of a problem if water gets in.
I got the carpet and underlay bundle from All Car Carpets, which are based near Melbourne. The underlay is for noise reduction, comfort and I believe it’s meant to be waterproof. Yeah I see a lot of people going for vinyl and that’s a great idea for 4WDing like that, but this time I was aiming for more of a comfortable “touring” vibe

Pretty sure it was charcoal grey. Whatever looked most like the factory carpet. And it’s loop pile

How much it would cost as a job?
Hi Will. I have a serious leak in my 105 Landy as well. Not only carpets but roof under the sun visor is wet too. I have taken off the roof rack and resealed all the connections areas. But still leaks. I took it to Toyota and mentioned the windscreen they advised it was not the windscreen but most likely the roof rack. (TBH they spent about 30 seconds looking and did not even open the door, very disappointing) How did you confirm it was the windscreen? I am considering taking off the ceiling panel this weekend to check.
If there are rust bubbles on the top seal of your windscreen, you can almost guarantee that’s where the water is entering. I know it sounds counter-productive, but if you’re really not sure you could run a hose over the area you suspect there is a leak, and then try and see if the carpet in the footwell gets any damper. I have another video on how I kind of diagnosed the leak on my channel

Hopefully you can find it and get it sealed! Nothing worse than the car smelling like mould every time you get in!
Meant to also ask, apart from the better smell, have you noticed any sound reduction?
It’s a very similar sound level. If I had my time again, I would stick down those thin foil sound deadening panels onto the paintwork before placing the other deadening and carpet down. Not to say it’s noisy or anything- but if you really wanted it as quiet as some more modern cars, you could go that step further

Nice work. How long did it take you? And what’s under the drivers seat if you’ve got the amp under the passenger seat? I like the plastic chopping board idea underneath to screw into!
It was probably a weeks work overall. Bit of start/stopping but I’d say give yourself a week of work every day. Under the drivers seat is an amp for the subwoofer, the amp under the passengers seat is for the other speakers

Do the carpet-company sell out of Australia ? Is the carpet you got the thickest and most luxuries they have ?
Hi there, definitely a lot of work. Probably 2 or 3 solid days in the end. I wouldn’t recommend this carpet company anymore, they left my brother waiting for carpet for over 12 months after he paid for it. Not good. My only regret is I didn’t use any adhesive sound deadening to make it even more comfortable. In hindsight my ideal layout would be adhesive sound deadening, better underlay with a waterproof underneath and carpet on top. Hope this helps

Im doing soundproofing also. Think i will flollow your advice. Have already put in the bitumen adhesive sound deadening, so its easy to put a thick underlay. Then i just need to find another carpet manufacture - if the exist :-)
@@overtro look up “carbuilders” in Victoria. I’m pretty sure they make a lot of carpet kits!
The only problem you have now is if you need to access the fuel pump cover to change them you can't do it without cutting your underlay.
Please witch size tool's use for open chairs?
If you mean the chair mount bolts, pretty sure most of them were 14mm if I’m remembering correctly 👍
what is the base you used for? noise deadening material ?

@@1hdt go look up all car carpets in Melbourne. They take forever to dispatch but it’s a great product! They must make them on order

Yes in one of my other videos I cover how I replaced the windscreen and sorted all that

Probably set aside 2 or 3 days of solid work. It’s a big job! So worth it though 🤙
Yeah I got the v8 so I'm doing stage 2 sound deadener then vinyl cause well I have kids an they leave crumbs haha
@@DAYZOFFADVNCHURZ haha yeah fair enough mate 😂 You can’t have too much sound deadening. It’s a good level in my cab but wish I’d gone just a step further sometimes
Yeah well my misso complained when we went to Fraser cause I have a full custom exhaust which sounds so good but yeah when my son is sleeping in the car can get a bit noisy

😂yeah I reckon, I have a leak somewhere in the firewall I’m pretty sure. Quick question, what were you welding when you got the carpet stained? Because I had to weld my console lid back on haha
That’s literally what I was welding too!! I forgot to check the settings on the welder and next thing I knew the bloody carpet was on fire ☹️😂
