Awakening had, in my opinion, the best music of all fire emblem games. Three houses came close but tracks like 'Id-purpose'; 'don't speak her name'; ' Mastermind' (if you manage to hear it longer than 2 seconds that is) and a few others are a whole class on it's own.
@@Aurirang You have a point. Wait a second. You mean to tell me… this game was supposed to be the last one? It literally defied its fate by being good and selling. The actual Lucina of FE.
Noticed how Lucina is the only one facing the opposite direction of everyone else, showing how she wants to change her future, while her sword is pointing in the same direction, showing how she tries to disguise herself.
It just gives me that feeling, it’s so good, the emotion, it fits perfectly for the climax of the game, this was supposed to be the last entry in the series and this is what they pulled, it’s insane, and the nastolgia to🙏🙏
The final thing these developers wanted you to hear in the final battle of (what they thought was) the final Fire Emblem... was the theme of Fire Emblem. Yeah, I think I got something in my throat...
Ness G that game has the best music in the series but Awakening’s music is beyond special for I cannot help agreeing that no living human being was ever blessed with such piece
A remake for Awakening is certainly needed. Not just for the models and animations but for the story and other things. I would love to see a remake for Awakening.
@@LuckyTheReviewer I'd love a remake of Awakening as well. Or rather a rework. all arcs need some serious fleshing out, especially Wallharts arc. It severly needs more worldbuilding, emotions based on past (can't remember the name.. happenings?) stuff, especially what Chroms father did to Plegia. I'm glad that they didn't paint all fo Plegia black (mostly thanks to Mustafa and his legendary chapter) but i'd love to have seen the whole arc as a bit a more gray area where no side is truly right and it just devolves more and more. As for Wallhart, there could have gotten alot more work in characterisation of him. I picked up at some point, that he intended to conquer the world in order to get rid of religion? (dunno if that's true though) With SoV out and Alm and Celica having fought Grima (or whatever that floating wtf was back then) and him being a descendand of the two, he could have had access to some scripts foretelling the reawakening of Grima and thus he started the conquering? Some depth of his actions at elast, besides the, i'm conquering because i'm the strongest!! (At this point, i really liked the between-chapter-narrator of fe7-9 that gave additional info and background on what happened, i wish they added that again, jeralt explaining the seasons was cute and all but not all that spectacular) I actually don't remember much about Grimas Arc. I really need to replay the game again at some point. Also, i'd love to see fates' fighting system in Awakening (as it's just the Awakening system a bit polished) to make the game more balanced (Also how cool where the offspring seals please? No needless grinding to get the kids up to niveau) and less like an rng-fest.
@@Aurirang Another thing to bring up in the rework that you didn't bring up, more info on Robin's mom. Seriously, one of the most essential NPC characters in the game and the most we get about her is that she ran off with Robin in the middle of the night to prevent him/her from being sacrificed to Grima. Also, she was the one to teach Robin about tactics. Yet this is all we get. I would love to have more about her in the rework.
I just beat Awakening for the first time a few nights ago, and I can't even begin to tell you how hyped I got when this song started as all my friends called out to me. What a finale! I'm still a bit new to FE, I've only played Three Houses so far, but Awakening will easily be one of my favorite video games of all time.
Awakening was meant to be the last game in the series, and this song perfectly encapsulates that message. It's the track that plays during the last boss, when everything you've seen and worked up to has finally come to an end and you want to go all out before that last victory! All the classes, great music, fun supports and memorable lines will never be forgotten! But it's also full of hope for the franchise, and that made a truly amazing and masterful experience I will always remember! *Keep going Fire Emblem because Anything Can Change!*
It's wierd, before I played awakening I never thought much of this song. I thought it was average at best. But once this song came on during the final stage, I got goosebumps from it and now I love listening to this song. It's amazing just how different this song hits when you actually get to experience the music during gameplay versus just hearing it without any context.
What I think makes this song so impactful isn't just that it's quality music or that it's a reprise of a reoccurring theme, but just how *subtle* that theme really was. The "Id" theme has a *lot* of variations that feel distinct while still feeling like they're connected to one another, and unlike say "Lost in thoughts" or "Edge of Dawn" the game doesn't really emphasize it. It's there, but the theme doesn't really take center stage until this moment. The Id theme was just background music, stuff you'd barely paid attention to up to this point and because of that it slowly seeped itself into your heart. It became cozy, familiar, and felt like home, but above all it was *your* theme. "Lost in thoughts" was Azura's theme, "Edge of Dawn" was Edelgard's, but "Id"? "Id" belongs to Robin, to *you.* Not Chrom, not Lucina, but the player themselves. It's a love letter to the players, a thank you and final farewell from the makers of the Fire Emblem series to their dedicated fans for what was supposed to be the final game in the series. It's more than just an awesome final map theme, it has... *purpose.* (I'm so sorry, I couldn't resist ending it on that cheesy note.)
-Single handely saved the franchise. -Was among the games that boosted the sales of the 3DS, allowing it to truly start to be successful. I've never seen before a more fitting subtitle than "Awakening" here. EDIT: Damn, 629 likes? Thanks people, this is one of my most successful comments.👍
99th Shindaki the chorus of the song is basically Robin singing about the events of the game, how she’s not strong enough to change her destiny on her own, and how she needs her friends’ strength to defeat Grima.
I love how this part, which is representing Grima, is slowly being overshadowed by the each time bigger union of the other voices and instruments until it can barely be heard at all. And then everything stops and the final words "vi so sat" (our might is enough) kick in. It really reinforces the general message of the game and is something so subtle yet so well thought out.
I still remember over 5 years ago when I finally completed Lunatic Classic for the first time. Making it to the very end without a single death, everyone recruited including the SpotPass characters, landing the final hit on Grima, I felt like I just conquered one of the biggest challenges I ever faced at the time and it will remain with me as a precious memory for Fire Emblem as a whole
You must be one hell of a tactician to be able to pull that off WITHOUT A SINGLE CASUALTY. If I did that, most of my units would probably be dead before the game's over. 😂😂
The importance of this title and the beauty of this song is a real testament to the producers of this masterpiece. This was supposed to be the last Fire Emblem game in existence. They poured their HEART out developing this game and revived the franchise completely.

I love that ID tracks are essentially Robin's theme that tells their evolution as a character in the game. ID (Purpose) is them realizing the truth with resolve and knowing that their sacrifice (killing Grima & dying) is the only way to truly save the world from eminent destruction.
Thats crazy to think that when we were little we didn't even realize how incredible she is, especially today when I'm doing some musics I realize what an incredible amount of work it must have taken to have such a masterclass ! ⭐️
I don't understand the hate revolving around Awakening, is it the perfect Fire Emblem? No is the worst? Absolutely not. I can see it's flaws but for me personally, this game was the first installment of the franchise that I played and I fell in love with the characters and the plot, and even though I never got to (or have yet) play the DLC I can imagine the rollercoaster of emotions during the Future Past arc. All I'm saying is, Fire Emblem Awakening may not be the perfect one of the series but it IS the that saved it from obscurity because if I am to be correct, Nintendo (or whoever the devs where) said that if Awakening doesn't do well in the U.S then it's either going to be a Japan exclusive game or discontinued altogether. So without Awakening we wouldn't have Fates, Heroes, or 3 Houses......maybe Shadows of Valentia because SoV was a remake of Gaiden. TL;DR: Awakening deserves more credit then it is given and it is by far, without a shadow of a doubt, my favorite Fire Emblems of all time
A lot of fe elitists don’t like the type of people it brought into the community and the type of fandom fire emblem generally became after this one came out, plus we have seen more pandering to degenerate preferences since but idk man this game was fun I like it
It took me 4 years to pick this game up again, and it only took me 14 hours to get from start to finish on a new playthrough. I love this game and I am so happy that I picked this up again, the characters, the story, the music. It's all so great. Yet with all these great characters, my favorite will forever be the good old country bumpkin Donnel. Literally the biggest character glow-up I could have imagined, one-shotting every enemy with 140 damage crits. Godspeed Donny, godspeed.
You know, it’s actually so weird for Tharja to be on the cover when you consider that she’s an optional character who starts off hostile, and it’s easier to kill her than to recruit her.
I think that's part of the charm with her and fire emblem as a whole, she could have easily been killed but you the player make the effort to save her, as well as make sure everyone stays alive
@@filthyweeb2342 My first time playing Awakening, I didn’t quite “get” the whole mechanic of recruiting people at first, so Gaius and Tharja both died and Libra just sort of disappeared. Although, only about half of them were ever born, since a lot of the female characters died early on in my first playthrough. It was a bit of a sh*tshow, honestly.

@@pearsemolloy9656 For me, it's really the only way I can play Fire Emblem. Not only does a character dying force me to change up my army rather than let all those characters I picked up from paralogues rot for eternity, but reaching the final map with only a finite number of units has always felt like a big part of Fire Emblem's charm. And to be perfectly honest, replaying a hard battle over and over just isn't that fun to me. Better to beat it and move on than spend hours having it drive me up the wall.
This music has such a heroic vibe and that’s why I love it so much, some final boss music doesn’t give off such vibes, sometimes, the music gives off hopeless vibes or sad vibes, that’s the stuff that makes you feel like you’ve got no chance, but this music gives a feeling of hope for the heroes to come out on top
Man, awakening is quite the FE game. Not only did it save the franchise, but it also provides us with one of the best tracks in gaming history, in my opinion.
What was meant to be the final entry in the series... Turned out to be it's greatest resurrection... Thank you for creating such a memorable masterpiece of a Fire Emblem, Nintendo.
@@ChrisStoneinator Well the story is kind of rushed. Right after Emmeryn dies and Chrom becomes exalt, ANOTHER story starts, and basically you’ve got three parts of a game that didn’t need one, just like Fire Emblem 6. Also because of the Outrealm DLC maps costing money when about 20 other extra maps cost nothing and only expect you to play the game. Or at least, what I think.
This was the first Fire Emblem on my first handheld system back in 2016 when I got tired of my ps4 and PC games. This entire game moved me but to this day, this song on the final part of the game still makes me shed tears even at 42 years old. It's the proof that there is always hope even in the darkest of times, always......
You know, it's interesting. The Jugdral/Archanea/Valentia timeline ends the same way it starts: The dark dragon has returned, and an impulsive but well meaning prince must be avenged by his child.
I remember hearing that familiar rhythm, and then that moment when everyone starts singing along gave me actual goosebumps. It really felt like my entire squad was coming together for this one final battle.
The main songs are obviously mainly about Chrom, and the Id songs are usually Robin... But after nintendo recently reuploaded I’d purpose with a picture of Chrom (the true reason is just that he’s the main character, not that it’s his song) I got to thinking How much does this concept of finding a true purpose. Not just “well he’s the awakener. Well he’s the exalt. Well he is the commander of shepherds.” But internally. To learn that fate, time, whatever you believe in has scripted that you DIE. Yeah the whole point of awakening is Chrom challenging fate. But imagine that feeling of learning you’re meant to die, and you don’t, and now you need to make your own reason, your own purpose.
-Hears this song in Smash, thinks it’s an absolute bop and plays it on almost any Fire Emblem stage. -Forgets about the song entirely for a few years, finally starts playing Awakening and loves it. -Gets to the final map and this music starts playing -Gets nostalgic after hearing a song in its origin for the first time
i just started playing fe:3h not too long ago and it made me reminisce about fe:awakening since i'm really liking 3h's soundtrack. this just brought me back and oh how i wish i could re-experience playing fe:awakening again. hearing this final boss battle song gave me the chills and i never got over it.
I think the last game to make me sort of stop and listen to the music instead of playing the game was Metal Gear Rising, only finished playing this a few months ago and I was sort of just doing my thing and attacking all the minions around Grima cos I was stupid and then the song hit the 2:32 mark and I was like "Woah wait a minute, what is this godly music I haven't been noticing is playing right now" Just kinda sat there in absolute awe and took in the music, actually nearly had a tear in my eye, no joke.
I don't know if anyone pointed this out yet, but I like the fact that everyone's weapon is pointing the EXACT same direction, even though Lucina is facing the opposite direction of everyone else
This is one of those themes that still invokes the feeling of triumph of getting to this point and fighting side by side with the team that brought you this far. And like hell you were backing down
Imo THE game that defined the 3DS as a console, and singlehandedly saved Fire Emblem as a franchise. Its insane to think they were betting on it dying here. The 3DS didnt sell too well early on, it looked like itd be the end.
This song is so powerful. I will never forget this theme and when it played during the final battle for my first playthrough. The instruments in the beginning, coupled with the beating of the drums, made me feel courageous and battle-focused, and then, OH BOY then the chorus coming in at 0:30, THE CHILLS!! Just finished the game a couple days ago. The endgame for awakening made me cry like a baby. This game was an incredible experience and I'm glad it's the first fire emblem game I've ever finished. I didn't think I'd get attached to all these characters, but it all hit me like a truck when I realized it was all coming to an end. I truly love this game.
I just finished this game yesterday, and when this theme played as the dialogue of all my most used units appeared, I almost started crying. I had been playing Smash Bros. Ultimate for a loooong time, and always heard this song and thought "it's pretty good, I like it". But finally hearing it with all the context of the game, and in that moment when everyone spoke and it hit, I swear I nearly cried, took a moment listening to the theme and enjoyed every single moment of the final battle. This franchise has been my favorite. I am now getting to play the last games and enjoying each one of them. I am so glad my brother mistook Radiant Dawn for a fighting game that day so many years ago, because had it not happened, I would have never discovered this series. You have a point. Awakening's "Don't Speak Her Name" is probably my favorite song in all of FE, and if not my favorite, easily top 3
All of the games definitely have their own songs that really slap when you hear them but certain Awakening songs ready did bring a little extra to the table. Don't get me wrong, Awakening still has some that are forgettable or not that great but it has a lot of great ones.
@@mysticknight1494 I did not emant to say that all other games didn't ahve impactful music. I'm sure there is at the very least one track in every game that hits you like a brick and makes you listen to it first.
There are a bunch in Awakening that are just backgroundmusic (i mean, that's needed as well, also they got some very wierd tracknames sometimes) but i'd say that Awakening has the most amount of impactful tracks of the series as well as the most impactful one. as much as i love awakening as it is, i would honestly lay down my life to see all the awakening characters with crispy character models like in 3h
A remake for Awakening is certainly needed. Not just for the models and animations but for the story and other things. I would love to see a remake for Awakening.
TheLuckyFateReviewer a remake already? When far more needing and deserving games could get one? Seriously, it’s on the 3ds, not the N64
They might even have feet this time
@@LuckyTheReviewer I'd love a remake of Awakening as well.
(At this point, i really liked the between-chapter-narrator of fe7-9 that gave additional info and background on what happened, i wish they added that again, jeralt explaining the seasons was cute and all but not all that spectacular)
I actually don't remember much about Grimas Arc.

I'm still a bit new to FE, I've only played Three Houses so far, but Awakening will easily be one of my favorite video games of all time.
fun fact, tree houses exists thanks to awakening popularity. this game revived the franchise
"may we meet again in a better life"
It's wierd, before I played awakening I never thought much of this song. I thought it was average at best. But once this song came on during the final stage, I got goosebumps from it and now I love listening to this song.
It's amazing just how different this song hits when you actually get to experience the music during gameplay versus just hearing it without any context.
What playing to much smash does to us
Also, the Smash Bros. 4 version cuts out some of the buildup in this song.
*purpose.*
(I'm so sorry, I couldn't resist ending it on that cheesy note.)

I love the choir at 2:28
"O, vires tan gunt va! Mi peta in meto!
Va! Mi volans va fio mi de scen vi et homida!"
What does it mean though?
I need to know the meaning behind this.

Thankfully, I figured it out by the time the future kids started showing up.

This was the first Fire Emblem on my first handheld system back in 2016 when I got tired of my ps4 and PC games. It's the proof that there is always hope even in the darkest of times, always......
Everyone: Strike from above, we have high ground!
Lucina: I’m going to the moon
You know, it's interesting. The Jugdral/Archanea/Valentia timeline ends the same way it starts: The dark dragon has returned, and an impulsive but well meaning prince must be avenged by his child.
I remember hearing that familiar rhythm, and then that moment when everyone starts singing along gave me actual goosebumps. It really felt like my entire squad was coming together for this one final battle.
I would kill for a remake of this game. Still the highest rated Fire Emblem Game ever
This game doesn't really need a remake. I'd rather they do one the Japan exclusive ones, like FE4 or 6.
There is no way a track could go this hard...
but I guess Awakening proved me wrong...
The main songs are obviously mainly about Chrom, and the Id songs are usually Robin...
But after nintendo recently reuploaded I’d purpose with a picture of Chrom (the true reason is just that he’s the main character, not that it’s his song)
I got to thinking
How much does this concept of finding a true purpose. Not just “well he’s the awakener. Well he’s the exalt. Well he is the commander of shepherds.”
But internally. To learn that fate, time, whatever you believe in has scripted that you DIE.
Yeah the whole point of awakening is Chrom challenging fate.
But imagine that feeling of learning you’re meant to die, and you don’t, and now you need to make your own reason, your own purpose.
The eventual Fire Emblem Awakening remake will be amazing, just wanted to put that out there.

This song is so powerful. I will never forget this theme and when it played during the final battle for my first playthrough. god i love fire emblem music so much. what a great game series I'm so glad it didn't die in 2011
I just finished this game yesterday, and when this theme played as the dialogue of all my most used units appeared, I almost started crying. So far, FE6-7-8-9-10-13 and currently playing 14 (Fates). I tried out FE4 (Genealogy) but I lost my save file so I abandoned it for the time being. I LOVE THIS SERIES!
goated comment
I hope you try 11 and 12 one day
Defeating a part of yourself, is scary
But all your friends are by your side
And you’re fighting on top of a dragon over a sunset.
Now that is what i call a final boss
I teared up during the final battle, when this song started playing. One of the plethora of reasons why it's my favorite game.
I still remember downloading the demo on the 3DS and playing through all 30 uses and then finally saving enough money to buy it a year later. Best money spent
My first fire emblem
I'll admit this song gives me tears of joy God bless the developers 10/10 !
This game was the greatest surprise ever. I remember buying the special 3DS they made for this only because I thought it looked beautiful I had absolutely no intention of playing this game but I decided to boot it up and it changed my life 😭. I love this franchise
easily one of the most epic finals bosses in gaming history
how can I be in love with this song even though I haven't played this game? I'm trying to play it on my new 3DS even if it's not my genre of game just to reach this part, which i know is at the finale
