The 2006/7 Ashes was an absolute monstering from the Aussies, whatever lessons they needed to learn from losing that series they did so. One of the all time great teams in any sport.
2010/2011 was better
Ashes tests in Australia are as pointless as the Scottish Premiership
Yep. A ruthless, brutal team. Even when the World Cups came around it was assumed the Aussies of this era would win and the talk was who could win if the Australians didn’t.
He’s been great addition to the sky commentary team
Why isn’t Michael Holding on comms anymore?
@@tamasproductionswent to be professional blm activist
@@tamasproductions retired
He has. Really good pundit.
I guess he replaced Shane Warne.
Very honest and upfront with his answers, Ponting one of the greatest Aussie captains! Kudos!
After this test Australia went on a run of 16 wins in 17 tests (1 draw) including 12 wins in a row culminating in that 5-0 revenge in the Ashes.
Then lost Ashes in England and then at Home in Australia
@@aniket385Then what happened in 2013, 2017, 2021 in Australia.. 13 - 0 to Australia in Australia.
Australia atleast is competitive in England, drawing multiple series recently.
@@aniket385 Yes but remember that by then they had no Warne, McGrath, Hayden, Langer, Lee, Gilchrist. So yeah, of course they were going to struggle in those.
@@georgedavid2577England still done what Australia havn't in that time and that's win a series away outright
@@jacobburtonswfcI'm English and think you are clutching at straws there mate... okay we had that brilliant series win away in 2011 but since then weve trounced away from home 3 series on the bounce and theyve been way more competitive on our home turf
hated him when he played vs england, he was a tough, antagonising, yet brilliant batsman, one of the best ever, and ive really enjoyed his commentary this series...always a legend..
He was kind of brutally honest about players not standing up. But that team could take it, they had very high expectations for themselves.
Greatest series for England and Ricky took it on the chin.
He did a bit more than that at Lord's on Day One in 2005.
@@scsutton1 yes great knock but England making it 1-1 was epic.
@@scsutton1😂 I thought that too.
But he was a tough little bugger. Tough as old boots.
Greatest captain ever... respect from India
Long live Test Cricket ❤
This admin deserves a rise
You got beat. Ponting lost 3 Ashes series and won just 1 as captain, and became the first captain since Alan Border in 1987 to lose an Ashes at home. I have to say though, hes a great pundit & arguably one of the best batsmen of my generation (I am 43). He absolutely dominated with the bat, and im saying that as an Englishman.
Disappointing to see the series end in a draw for the second home series running.
Is Sean Paul behind the mic?
Lol. Jamaican twang
"yeah nah mate"
true false mate!
Waited until Australia retained the ashes again to post this I see
Waited until Australia blew a 2-0 lead
This was tym wen mighty Australian team were at pinnacle 🎉
From a Brit ponty seems like a good lad.
Mr. Ricky "We'll have a bowl" in the second test Ponting.
Ponting or Steve Smith?
Ponting. Steve Smith is phenomenal but Ponting in his prime was a monster and to play like he did as a captain was one of a kind.
@@deanfillery8652 agreed, I'd go with Punter.
That is how to concede defeat. Not the victim BS from McCullum and Stokes
Fair comment that
That poor poor millionaire
To be fair, i've seen him on a few things although i don't watch his commentary and he just seems like a pretty decent fella.. I remember hating him that summer though.. Always felt his eyes have a bit of George W Bush about them...
