Ricky Ponting would later call it one of the toughest spells of bowling he ever faced. With Australia yet to lose a wicket in pursuit of England's target of 282, Michael Vaughan threw the ball to his talisman Freddie Flintoff. And boy did he deliver something special!

Andrew Flintoff is the perfect example of not judging a cricketer by his stats. His impact and influence was beyond numbers and only a few could do that.

Also a perfect example of backing talent as a selector. His ordinary stats are largely a result of him really fumbling his way into international cricket. When he hit his peak between 2002-2006 his stats read on the Imran Khan all-rounder level. Jimmy Anderson is another good example if you look at his numbers a significant way into his career.

FRoT LeET this series is shaping up to be great and stokes innings will go down In legend for sure but this series for two generations meant something special
All we had known was having some good result against others then come the ashes getting walloped by the Aussies, suffering humiliation, shocking batting collapses and them putting us in our places!!
Yet this series we came into it looking good and showed it against a almost invincible Aussie team that was one of the greatest test teams of all time.... it just meant something special and caught the imagination of the whole country and cricket was THE number one sport that summer!!
This broke the hoodoo and gave us hope that we was good enough to compete with the Aussies

There are three types of cricketers:
There are the entertainers. The can change the entire complexion of a match or series in a single session, or even a single over with the bat, ball, or even in the field. Botham, Kapil, and Flintoff fall into this category.
One are the accountants. They will efficiently, consistently, and often unmemorably accumulate statistical achievements which look better on paper than they do on the field. Kallis, Hadlee, and to some extent Imran fall into this category.
Then there is Sobers. He was one of a kind who accumulated ridiculous statistics while also being an entertainer.

one of the greatest test in cricket history ever..... i was taking updates about this test match continuously by BBC news on My Father's radio....i had wish that England should be win...
On that time i was a big anti-Australian Becoz they won the 2003-world cup against My India... that's so hurtful for me... i was just 9 years old on that time...
so great respect for filantop...he won the title of Man of the Series... he played very well as a allrounder in that whole test series....and that was helpful for England to win that test series by 2-1.....
