what legends, both of you. nasser dont sell yourself short, you were an epic leader, determined and hard nosed. as an aussie i would think england would give their left foot to have you leading their superstars now. imagine bazball with more backbone and hard edged attitude. still such a loss to have lost Shane so early.
You're right Nas was a very good captain and tough competitor. His captaincy was particularly impressive because England were bottom of ICC Test rankings when he took over.
Wonderful words thank you. Yes I think if anything Hussain is under appreciated as both captain and batsman. He was a truly tough competitor and cared deeply. Winning in Pakistan then SL (against Murali and all) remains one of England’s finest achievements in the last 25 years.
Hussain and Ponting commentating together at Headingley during that Stokes & Leach partnership was amazing. Ponting especially was calling what was going to happen and commentated as a fan of the game and not an Aussie pundit. They made what was an awesome sporting moment.
Nass talking about the 207 knock always has a special place in my heart. The 1997 Ashes was the first series I watched on TV, and started my passion for the game.
These two are one of the best commentators in the world now. Brilliant how after being players they have taken up broadcasting such easily and brilliantly.
I have always admired Australian's for the brand of cricket they played from 1999-2000's. Loved Ponting's attitude and his batting(especially pull shot)
Such a fabulous way to lock horns with a bit of Ashes in hindsight!! I like Ricky for his grit and determination. On Nasser, I love his eloquence when it comes to commentating on key moments of a game! Overall a great interview with laughter in between!!
Ricky Ponting was one of the best in his era and Nasser was more of an astute captain and a good test batsmen. Not many accept their limitations and Nasser rightly said that with limited skills he did over achieve as a player. Ricky was next level itself, as a batsmen as a captain. Loved their interactions, they should bring in more ex players for this interaction.
Hated ricky as a player because he was brilliant but as a broadcaster he is superb along with nasser & Athers it just works,& works really well, could listen to that trio all day
Seriously though. He was timing the ball so well. I remember seeing a straight drive he hit in that game that made such a ridiculous sound off the bat. Ponting in full flight was something to behold.
@The96drummerboy it was an Incredible innings he hit a number of straight drives that innings against Simon Jones. I was so frustrated when he got out because I thought I'm about to witness one of the greatest innings of all time
The difference is Australia were 360-2 at the end of day 1 and won the test by 400 odd runs. At Egbaston Australia had still bowled England out although for 410 and they only lost the test by 2 runs via a dodgy umpiring decision
Nas is a little harsh on himself, or insanely humble. 32 test wins from 96 matches. It's no secret he played through a poor period of English cricket, but he gave it his all as he said and scored 14 centuries along the way - not a bad career.
Wouldn’t like Ponting to be ‘labelled’ only as an angry skipper or player, that’s a bit simplistic and unfair. What he expressed was a competitive, fighting spirit, bit of mongrel, dogged, easily roused, bit emotional, but determined and strong minded, keen to prove himself, keen to pit himself against others and prevail, all characteristics of a winner, his record is extraordinary.
Sanju Samson is an all format player somehow getting chances only in white ball. Hope he can be consistent as there is no lack of skills just needs to take it more seriously.
Why? The question was who does he enjoy watching, not who is the best or most effective. Steve Smith has an incredible record, and possibly will retire with an average second only to Bradman, but he is not an aesthetically pleasing batsman, likewise Labuschagne, whereas Wiiliamson, Rohit and Root have an elegance, doesn't make them better, only easier on the eye.
I'm actually thoroughly irritated how much I now like these guys I considered some sort of great invincible ogres in my youth, I hated harden, longer, marathon, ponting, healy, pretty much all the great side really....but they all seem such thoroughly decent blokes..it's bloody infuriating!!!😂
First of all both cricketers are products of the 1990s. For Australia the 1990s was a brilliant decade of cricketing success. Where they finally emerged from the chaos of world series cricket in late 1970s and 1980s to be the best team in the world. They won every ashes series that decade and knocked WI of their high position in test cricket forever. No doubt Ricky Ponting hardly had any pressure and problems. Life was easy for him. Compare that to Nasser Hussein. Who was part of the talented new Generation of English cricketers who emerged in the late 1980s early 1990s. Him Nasser Huseein, Mark Ramprakash, Atherton, Stewart Hick, Fairbrother, Reeve, Chris Lewis, Devon Malcolm, Angus Fraser to name a few who were going to make the 1990s the best decade for English cricket instead became a nightmare with their worst decade. Nasser Hussein was a victim of the chop and change confused selection policies of the English cricket in the 1990s. Like everybody else never really was able to have a stable position in the team. Come year 2000. England had a bad decade of cricket. England captain had stepped down and he was given the top job for English cricket to get it out of the doldrums. Starting in 2000 that is exactly what he did. English cricket recovered under Nasser Hussein and Duncan Fletcher. Nasser Hussein path was hard path compared with Ponting. Thats why of the two I admire Nasser Hussein more even though Ricky Ponting was much better cricketer and part of that brilliant 1990s Aussie generation of Cricketers. Nasser Hussein should be admired more in my book.
Nasser and Atherton are the 2 greatest broadcasters in all of sport
Hate that I now like Ricky Ponting hahaha He is class. And absolutely right about Nasser - one of the best broadcasters going.
what legends, both of you. nasser dont sell yourself short, you were an epic leader, determined and hard nosed. as an aussie i would think england would give their left foot to have you leading their superstars now. imagine bazball with more backbone and hard edged attitude. still such a loss to have lost Shane so early.

Lol "hard nosed" made me chuckle
NO WAY!!! I WAS JUST THINKING and he mentioned sanju samson, wow!! high praise to come from Punter!!
That 156 in Manchester , was one of the greatest innings I’ve seen. Australia were under serious pressure and Ponting just pulled the f out of them
Fantastic conversation and there is no doubt that Nasser is THE best broadcaster in the world! Thanks for the video lads
I'd say one of the best, Atherton for me is just as good if not better
The Indian commentator Hasha Bogle? is great to watch
@@1362pcyes for me bill lawry the best commentator
@@1362pcIan bishop?
@1362pc he's rubbish
Ricky ponting winning the world cup 2003 and 2007 is definitely one of his proudest moments. I remembered his 156 manchester ashes 2005
nasser is such a lovely bloke
Hussain and Ponting commentating together at Headingley during that Stokes & Leach partnership was amazing. Ponting especially was calling what was going to happen and commentated as a fan of the game and not an Aussie pundit. They made what was an awesome sporting moment.

Used to hate Ponting when you played but sheer class and great to have him commentating in the Uk
Two legends of the game and great respect shown to each other.
akram and ambrose for ricky when they werent in their prime says alot about their consistency
Probably the two best expert commentators around now with Atherton as well
Two of the best commentators going around...one for the way he articulates Nasser and the other for his ability to predict Ponting
Love Ricky! What a singular treat to have Nass and Ricky together entertaining us.
Fantastic. Two phenomenal people, let alone masters of their craft
These two are one of the best commentators in the world now. Brilliant how after being players they have taken up broadcasting such easily and brilliantly.
9.54... Goosebumps... ❤❤❤❤.. Sanju samson.... Our pride.....
Back to back ducks is pride for you? You people are so strange.
@ajmal6015 wer you from....
Ian Smith and Nasser are a joy to listen to!
I have always admired Australian's for the brand of cricket they played from 1999-2000's. Loved Ponting's attitude and his batting(especially pull shot)
I still believe that Ricky played the most beautiful Pull/Hook shot of any player in the past 55 years that I have been watching Cricket.
Such a fabulous way to lock horns with a bit of Ashes in hindsight!!
I like Ricky for his grit and determination. On Nasser, I love his eloquence when it comes to commentating on key moments of a game!
Overall a great interview with laughter in between!!
I love both these, and I also love the Aussies per se, to me they are exactly like the English team would be if the working class here played cricket.
I can listen these legends talking for the rest of my life
Great chat! Thanks for sharing.

List of Proudest moments for Ponting would be too many i guess, he has won everything that matters in cricket.
Hated ricky as a player because he was brilliant but as a broadcaster he is superb along with nasser & Athers it just works,& works really well, could listen to that trio all day
Good content thanks. Unlock the archive and put more stuff on here please. Sky must have a huge vault of interviews etc
great to see you both together....................... stay blessed and share the joy of cricket with all your fanssssssssssssssss
Omgosh Ponting should be the indian coach!! We would be unstoppable
No he is not an international coach he should focus only on T20 league coaching
Time nehi hai uske pass@@debasismohanty1952
Best innings I've ever seen ponting play was the 60 he got at edgbaston in 05
Seriously though. He was timing the ball so well. I remember seeing a straight drive he hit in that game that made such a ridiculous sound off the bat. Ponting in full flight was something to behold.

Naseer is best broadcaster and commentator while Ponting is GOAT Captain and player also best pundit❤❤
Lovely stuff. Both cricketing gentlemen, both class acts.

Class act is ricky.
Love Ricky Ponting
For Ricky winning world cup twice is not a proud moment
They didn't ask team achievement

At Egbaston Australia had still bowled England out although for 410 and they only lost the test by 2 runs via a dodgy umpiring decision
Kasprowicz's hand was off the bat so the catch shouldn't have counted.

Cmon Nasser! Winning the toss at MCG and bowling first 💩
9:55 sanju samson
Punter is our best ever batsman regardless of Bradman being a Dynamo!
So this is how it looks watching cricket from the Lord's media centre.
Pretty good view from there

Sanju❤
Well ponting not mentioned a single Aussie current player to watch. That put a question mark on credibility and honesty about making this video.
The current AUS team isn't that great tbh... average batters baring Smith & Cummins, Hazelwood are good ...rest of the team is below average
This is old video

Atleast i am the best player in my family....its pretty funny
Nasser was as much a better captain than Ponting as Ponting was a better batsman than Nasser. That said, Nasser's was an underrated Test batsman.
Toss at Brisbane should be only regret for nass
