    I’ve got maybe two or three bottles that could be worth something one day. No doubt I’ll drink them all at some point though

      All these bottles are all new whiskeys from distillery. I collect old whiskeys anywhere from 1950 to 2000 that I find in flea markets , yard sales , and estate sales . I get them cheap ,because people just want to get rid of it , and it is against the law to sell alcohol with out license . I have an impressive collection for so little money.

    Good video guys. I have some interesting bottles, including Hibiki 12, which have gone up in value since I bought them. Some of them are extremely desirable and unlikely to be repeated. I could sell them for a buck and I might do but I'm not going to get rich doing it. To be a real investor you have to buy in to that £200,000 club. I can't afford that and I'd rather not be that kind of person. Drink it, enjoy it and add some value to your life. You don't know what's coming around the corner.

      Welsh Toro that’s incorrect. You don’t have to be part of that 200k club to see a decent profit. Where’s best to contact you? I’m a whisky broker so giving you sound advice would be my pleasure - and don’t worry I won’t try sell you anything!

    The key word is "volume" and this makes it difficult for the average person. You may stumble over a some rare bottle which increases in value but to make real income you must increase in volume - and risk.

  • @egonchef7259
    @egonchef7259 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    to all those of you who state "whisky is for drinking": Did you ever made the experience to purchase a bottle of whisky for the price of 9000 bucks and open it just like this and taste a dram? --- Well, I know, in your opinion no bottle should cost more than the 50 bucks that you have in your pocket. But if you say "whisky is for drinking" in the comment area of a public video portal, then you don't say it to yourself. You say it to the folks out there. Don't you think that everyone else should get the chance to find out by himself what to do with his whisky?

    or you can just use it for the purpose it's made and drink it...this is why whisky prices have gone up in the last 10-15 years, people seeing whisky as an 'investment'. If you are an actual whiskey lover, ENJOY IT BY DRINKING IT!

    I found this interesting, but..... to be perfectly honest I couldn't afford the top stuff and if I got hold of a limited addition in future I think I would be tempted to hold onto it till the value increases. WAIT A MINUTE!! that' s rubbish holding onto a whisky would be like sitting a child in front of a big tub of ice cream, with loads of sprinkles on a hot day and saying "don't eat that while I'm out"

  • @BrolicWhiskey

      It's my considered opinion that the distilleries themselves are hiking up their prices by drip feeding the market with limited releases far too regularly and thereby causing a frenzy among the flippers and the collectors who imbibe the product over time but like to stock up in advance as an insurance against being fleeced.
      From what I see some hoarders are running the risk of ruination, either through falling for the hype and getting caught when the bubble burst...or failing to insure against fire in the home...or failing to take precautions on guarenteeing their anonymity when posting pictures of their hoards online and thereby running the risk of being targeted by canny burglary gangs who are copping on to the assets in the cabinets....etc, etc. The crazy prices being paid at auction are will first pique the interest of the low life drug addicts who will start the ball rolling and it takes off from there...Mark my words!

    • @anspailpinspanach9298
      @anspailpinspanach9298 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Richard Driskill Time will prove which of us is right. I think I have a few years over you and though I don't claim to have a monopoly on wisdom, I've been around long enough to smell manipulation in the market. There are a lot of 'Johnny come lately' fan boys blogging and costing up to the marketing departments of various spirit brand conglomerates who are willing to allow themselves to be manipulated for the rich returns they perceive which they get as trinkets in the post on a weekly basis in return for their influential 'positive'....independent favourable recommendations. The net and YT are full of these 'independent' influencers...who couldn't tell the difference between the test and aroma of a Dollar from a Euro, as it's all the same to them. These influencers think they are Master Tasters and may aspire to become very rich as the allow themselves to be played by the Brands, but they won't be the guys that get burned. Mark my words there is very little difference between the Property & Financial Investment Market and what is presently happening in the World Wide Whiskey Market....brace yourself for the crash!
      I buy to appreciate the spirit in the here and now, so I don't intend to get burned either, but there is a growing number of folks taking out an each way bet...one for sipping and one for investment, on the strength of what the influencers are pedelling on behalf of the latest entrants into the market. Sláinte my friend!

      you should monitor more than just one source of information. Like Whiskybase, Whiskystats and whisky auction results. And afterwards draw your conclusion and make your mind up.

    Can anyone recommend where or how I can subscribe to get news from distilleries about their special/ rare releases. I have visited alot of the big name distillery websites but the majority dont seem to let you subcribe for updates or even have a newsletter

    • @TopWhiskies
      @TopWhiskies  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Cian, some of the distilleries do their own newsletter you can sign up to. Macallan, Highland Park and Redbreast all do them. But of course your best source for whisky news is us. ;) we do a weekly news video about what's happening in the world of whisky. We'll make sure you know when the new releases are coming out. Hot off the presses: Glasgow Distillery is just putting out a new limited release whisky and they have two more coming out this year. It'll be available online soon. -Evan.
